Sweet, pretty fluffy cloud
After using this scent countless times over the course of many months, I want to get it out of my head. I became obsessed with the scent as soon as I tested it and now I have come to the conclusion that I will not be buying the whole bottle. The scent is not bad at all, it is just as good as I briefly wrote seven months ago: "Beautiful pampering velvety leather with fruity nuances and subtle sweetness. Well blended, attractive, chic, versatile as well. Perfection." Despite its addictiveness and excellently crafted blend, it still feels pointless to add it to my collection. This is not a head-turning scent or one that will be remembered for its uniqueness weeks, even months later. This is a well-made, safe and easy choice.

The scent is an incredibly beautiful and balanced composition, and it will definitely please most people who like sweet scents. Its fruity aroma combined with cotton candy, candy-like violet and the softest and softest leather create an addictive elixir that you will want to sniff endlessly. The soft base of pure musk and cashmere really create a feeling of a fluffy, velvety texture, which wraps its wearer in a safe blanket.

The scent has been compared with "London (Extrait de Parfum) | Widian / AJ Arabia" , Ombré Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum and Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum but I disagree about the similarity. First of all, the fruity note is clearly different, after all it is Blackberry and not Raspberry. There is a similar ease in Ombré Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum , although it is not quite the same fluffy cloud, but rather clear and transparent, Tuscan Leather Eau de Parfum being darker. As for "London (Extrait de Parfum) | Widian / AJ Arabia" , the leather and fruity twist of Raspberry are much more clearly separated from the blend than Blackberry and the leather in Kama . London is oriental in structure with a dominant ambery base and the scent has some kind of darkness in it, while Kama in my opinion does not meet the criteria of an oriental fragrance at all, but in all its sweetness, deliciousness and ease it even leans towards the gourmand category and if I have to describe it as a color I would say baby pink.

The difference also comes in who the fragrance is aimed at. Of course, fragrances are subjective and everyone can wear what they want, but the categorization still helps to understand the fragrances. While all the aforementioned fragrances are unisex or even lean towards the masculine, Kama leans towards the feminine. The structure of Kama without Oud remains extremely versatile and crowd pleasing. Its leather note, despite Birch Tar, is very subtle, the sweetness of the scent is tuned up with cotton candy, bringing out a playful nature, and the gentle, caressing, comforting base finishes the scent in a class of its own from other fruity leather scents. This scent can be worn anywhere and anytime, I don't think it bothers anyone. The projection is very moderate, it's a gentle cloud around the wearer.

Starchy leather and blackberry sugar
The opening is much sweeter than I anticipated, and it threw me off a little bit... Although after the initial blast of sugar, it got much better. The starchy earthiness of orris root is very prominent, it's laying on top of the leather note. The blackberry note is quite sweet, which is not the blackberry note I personally enjoy. Generally it is too sweet for my taste but not cloying, it is a well-done scent. I wish I smelled any birch tar, though, I don't smell any on my skin...

Kama is nice, but not necessary
A few days ago, I saw with delight in my beloved niche perfumery that the new fragrance from Pernoir was finally on the shelf. I love Mansa and "Amoral | pernoire," and I had been eager to smell this new addition since I first heard about Kama. The first sniff from the atomizer - I was thrilled. Intense, powerful, and a bit gourmand. I looked forward to testing it at home in peace and olfactory neutrality.

Once I got home, I sprayed it on my skin and… I was shocked. What… is this? I waved away the alcohol scent. Again and again, I held my nose to it, and it didn’t get any better.

Once again, I perceive a synthetic and, for me, aggressive fruit-musk blend reminiscent of "Erba Pura | XerJoff" - this time with smoky birch tar underneath and Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum sugar water poured over it. Later, artificial leather in the style of Sillage joins in.

Once again, I am immensely disappointed. On paper and based on the notes, it’s a dream. The bottle looks super promising. But on the skin (and not just mine), Kama leaves the unpleasant thought that the friendly gentlemen from Switzerland - or perhaps it was their perfumer - took the DNA of the aforementioned overly successful fragrances and mixed them together. And out came - Abracadabra: Kama. Unfortunately, it just went wrong.

The bottle, of course, is as wonderful as ever - an absolute delight to hold, and the atomizer has Swiss precision.

Performance, projection, and sillage are also top-notch.

The fragrance itself, unfortunately, is uneven, disappointing, and somehow 2023.

A Nose Pleaser
For me, Kama is an absolute crowd-pleaser; it is round and completely harmonious. Unlike perhaps some other fragrances from pernoire, such as "Mansa | pernoire," Kama is absolutely easy to understand.
A beautiful combination of blackberry and leather with a fine clean touch that reminded me a bit of "Almaz | Kajal," only with this fine clean note that probably comes from the violet. The iris only emerges after a while and adds a fine powdery touch.
The leather is not at all overpowering or disturbing; it is really fine suede, like what you find in "Venom Incarnat | Stéphane Humbert Lucas."
The cotton candy note adds a delicate sweetness without becoming too sweet.
Of course, it has a DNA that you know from "London | Widian / AJ Arabia," but I still find the fragrance unique enough, thanks to this fine mossy base and also this fine clean touch.
Longevity is top-notch and lasted at least 12 hours + for me, and the sillage is present but somewhat restrained.

Blackberry cotton candy and leather. Weirdly… nice? Not my type of scent, but original.

Don’t be afraid of the birch tar. Or the cotton candy. This was surprisingly good. When I saw the notes I was skeptical. Addictive

Unique leathery-fruity scent with balanced sweetness and musky base. Distinctive, refined, and long-lasting but slightly pricey.

Soft snuggly leather with all sorts of sweetness. Here you’ll find gentle fruits and violets. Pretty, but not a reinvention.

Versatile unisex perfume - distinguished, pleasing, clean, evokes trust. Leather and birch tar hide way too well.

100% the current "perfume spirit": loud, intrusive, sweet. This time in a leather-fruit disguise...
