Sweet and kind

Powdery, sweet, delicate. Got a sample of this one last summer in Paris. I like it better this year than when I received it. A nice, subtle everyday fragrance. But unfortunately doesnt project or last much. If I was to buy the full bottle it would soon be empty because of all the touch ups needed.

Creamy sweet floral vanilla

Scandal Le Parfum by Jean Paul Gaultier is the latest flanker (2022) of the well known Scandal line. This perfume is sweet and floral in the opening, with a caramel heart and a delicate salt that is barely there, probably coming together some sparkling touches. Smoother and better than the original

I'm not the biggest fan of Scandal, but I still tried all the flankers. This one is my favorite so far, along with Scandal a Paris. While that one was a light, fresher version, Le Parfum is as rich, sweet and opulent as the original, but in a different way.

There is a touch of the honey-infused Scandal DNA in this, but the sweetness here is less sticky and the honey gets tamed by the other notes. It feels very smooth and quite floral. I don't just smell jasmine and lots of tuberose. The caramel in this is very creamy without any burned aspects and only a little touch of salt. Vanilla rounds it all out.

A lot of people compare this to Hypnotic Poison, but I don't really get it. The vanilla might be similar, but HP has so much almond, a rubbery note and even some spices, all which Scandal LP doesn't have. Instead it's much more floral and a bit honeyed. Weirdly I get a hint of Black Opium in the opening (without the coffee), but that vanishes away in the drydown.

At first I wasn't too impressed by this, I thought it was just another unremarkable sweet designer floral on a vanilla base. A weak like, nothing more. But it really grew on me while testing. If I had a smaller collection, I'd buy it. I think it's the subtle salted caramel and the super smooth blending! Also, this is the type of perfume that gets better the longer its on.

Surprise Easy Reach

This blind buy gift from my husband immediately reminded me of Hypnotic Poison, but not—It’s smoother, with no playdoh note, and it’s less heavy. It’s more of a vibe that tickles my brain in a similar way. I love them both. I like to rotate my fragrances, but I find Scandal LP easily fits most occasions, so I find myself choosing it several times a week. Today, it’s my shlump-around-in-sweats scent, and I keep smelling my arm. My husband calls it “the sexy one,” so it’s perfect for date night or cuddles, too!

Sexy but also cozy gourmand

This reminds me a bit of marzipan with vanilla, yum! I do sort of get those “vanilla play-doh” vibes with this, but it’s not bad - just makes it feel very cozy and comforting. Yes, it IS a sweet fragrance, but it’s not sickly or cloying in my opinion. Wearing it in the right weather (i.e. cold!) definitely helps it perform at its best.

Some of the florals come out in the drydown on my skin as well and give it more dimension, it’s definitely not a simplistic “one note” fragrance.

Is it sexy? Yes, I’d say it definitely has flirty vibes. In my opinion, you could also get away with it during the day, but only in the fall and winter. This will be a strictly seasonal scent for me.
