Once again, a review of a Juliette Has A Gun fragrance. In the past, I often tested the scents of this brand and I also have
Vanilla Vibes in my collection. I really liked
MMMM... as well. In recent years, this brand has somehow faded a bit into oblivion. A few releases came out, but they weren't really in the spotlight. I tested this Ex Vetiver from 2024 purely by chance, as this scent was included as a sample with an order. My expectations weren't particularly high, as I'm not a big fan of vetiver (at least not in the leading role). However, my expectations were exceeded, and I believe this scent deserves at least a first review. The scent seems to be well-received with a score of 8.0 and some good statements. The lack of a major breakthrough is also due to the brand and the missing hype. Definitely a great cheerful spring and summer scent that you can also enjoy on mild days.
In terms of price, this brand from France is definitely fair. The older scents can already be found for an astonishing 50-60€ per 100ml, although these brand new releases are not available at that price yet. However, with a discount, you could get this for a good 100€. The fragrances come in a simple yet cool box, which justifies the price perfectly. In terms of quality, this brand can be well positioned between designer and niche. The bottles are quite pretty with this color gradient. Overall, it looks nice and everything is functional and in good shape.
I was positively surprised by the scent as a not-so-big vetiver fan. The development of this fragrance is enormous, and it transforms into a very cheerful fresh scent. The vetiver in this fragrance comes across as rather fresh-green and provides a refreshing summer vibe right at the beginning with this lemon-bergamot combo. The vetiver notes start off rather fresh-grassy and not like, for example, in Terre D'Hermes. A friendly green freshness that radiates positive vibes. Together with the citrus notes, it's a delight in summer. After 1-2 hours, this scent profile completely and unexpectedly shifts in my opinion: Ex Vetiver becomes very creamy, fluffy, and a bit tropical. This wasn't really expected with this pyramid, but it probably has to do with the clean creamy musk that sets in quite early. You have to like it, and it comes as quite unexpected with this title. Additionally, there’s a modern woody Ambroxan freshness. Overall, it's quite modern, positive, and very delicious with this citrus-cream note. Absolutely unisex and also very pleasing. Even though vetiver is in the title, I believe it is not in the foreground, but it is certainly present throughout the development.
The performance is really good for a fragrance in this genre. This scent lasts for several hours and sweetens the spring-summer day for the wearer. The sillage is in a good range, especially during the first 3-4 hours. A great choice for leisure and everyday wear.
All in all, it's absolutely not a blind buy candidate. You have to like these very creamy notes. Nevertheless, a great cheerful modern release from this house.
