Lush tropical flora.

Mr. Ellena rarely disappoints. What I love about his scents is that they can seem deceptively simple sometimes, but they never fail to charm and seduce. Baliflora fits this description perfectly. It recreates the feeling of a lush tropical garden of frangipani and jasmine. There are no sweet or synthetic vibes here, no coconutty suntan lotions, no Monoi oils, no tuberose: Baliflora feels natural and warm and lively without the heavy, stereotypical notes that are usually associated with the idea of beach scents. It's light and airy and easy to enjoy on the hottest of hot summer days. Decent longevity and projection.

Endlich habe ich meinen dies Jährigen everyday Sommer Duft. Der Bali Floral war für mich komplett unbekannt bis ich ihn durch Zufall testete. Anscheinend ist er sehr unter dem Radar obwohl es echt ein toller moderner unisex Duft ist. Zuerst ist er sehr Floral mit zitrischen Noten. Dann wird er sehr orangig und riecht wie eine weniger süße, saubere Fanta. einfach toll spritzig erfrischend. Haltbarkeit sind ok, eben typisch zitrischer Duft. wobei die Silage echt nicht so überragend ist, leider. Dennoch wer einen Floralen sauber, spritzigen Duft für den Sommer sucht sollte ihn aufjedenfall testen.

Ellena's Frangipani

This fragrance is said by the manufacturer to revolve around the Frangipani flower, which is native to Bali and regarded as its symbol. Unfortunately, I have never consciously perceived one, nor do I know any comparable scents, so I cannot judge whether this perfume represents a fragrant equivalent.

My impression of this third Eau de Parfum designed by Jean-Claude Ellena for Laboratorio Olfattivo within their Masters' Collection is somewhat reminiscent of a straw flower (hay-like and slightly woody, without fruity or honeyed notes), mixed with a lovely floral odor and a soapy clean base. However, it seems to me quite clearly removed from the description of Frangipani found online as "exotic, warm, floral, and sweet with a slightly fruity undertone," or from what I imagine it to be.

At the center is a lovely clean floral note that I cannot assign any distinctive features to. It is embedded in a dry, spicy hay tone that is slightly dominant. Both components are very well dosed and lie in the understatement range. Characteristically, this combination reminds me of a dried flower bouquet that still carries a faded scent of the plants. These two scent impressions (floral, hay-like) create a rather unusual - one could even say exotic - aromatic profile that plays with the two contrasts of sweet and bitter. This feels very pleasant and is easy to wear. From my perspective, it is an ideal scent for the transition to summer and during it. It also reminds me - if I am not completely mistaken - of the distinctly hay-like, dry-spicy note in Amouage's 'Sunshine Man.' Like there, it also feels fresh, optimistic, and carefree here. However, it is more subtle and tends overall towards a slightly feminine direction due to the lovely soft character of the floral component (according to conventional codes).

Up to this point, I find the fragrance to be valuable and successful. However, from the 4th to the 5th hour, a slightly soapy-sweet musk note increasingly emerges, which I associate with laundry detergent and strongly reminds me of Acqua di Parma's 'Yuzu.' While it does not dominate the fragrance and is spiced up by the hay tone, it noticeably changes its character. As a result, it loses a lot of its appeal and quality for me. Moreover, this part does not fit with the largely unusual fragrance character that prevailed before. Only the dryness thematically connects them. In terms of projection, it remains pleasant, though. This is rather subtle, and the longevity due to the musk molecules is surprisingly long.

Overall, the impression is of a nice, wearable summer perfume with largely unusual DNA ("sun-dried, lovely clean flower"), which, in my view, somewhat squanders its potential. A weaker and ultimately unusually trivial Ellena in my eyes.

White blossoms as far as the nose can reach. A fine citrus note, rounded off with musk. Nice as a clean summer scent, but unfortunately too weak otherwise...
