On a different scale
This feels like the original Arpège has been sandwiched between two masculines, M7 and Fat Electrician.
It's got the white flowers, aldehydes and fizzy elements of Arpège Eau de Parfum - even if the fizzyness has a lemongrass feel to it, and Pour Homme also keeps the balsams from the original. These are reinforced by the kind of deep ambery sweetness you find in M7. In fact ApH reminds me of M7 more than anything else, even though there's no oud in it. And to avoid the "brown-study grimness" of M7 (great phrase by Luca Turin) there's a pale and nutty-cream smoothness, which was popular at the time and later appeared in Fat Electrician. Finally, there are some original touches: the green-orange feel of the fizzy note, and nutmeg - which confirms a masculine direction and helps tie the composition to the base.
Although it's not very original, Arpège pour Homme makes good use of its sources and even improves on them, especially M7. It may be a bit too sweet for some (it is for me) but if you like M7 this could be a better choice; it's lighter, less grim, and there's more going on.
