Noble classic
Eau Noble features a magnificent opening. Ultra-classic masculine with green, herbaceous and spicy notes. An example of noblesse and good taste in a gentleman's cologne. This makes all those 'over-the-top' masculines look vulgar and cliché.

The scent undergoes a quick Chypre-ish development and ends in a patchouli base with aromatic elements. The patchouli here is not too dense, so the overall scent remains light and 'Eau'-ish.

Contrary to the reviews below, I can hardly detect any oakmoss. Note that I am referring to the current version of Eau Noble, which was revised by Thomas Fontaine in 2014.

I would classify this as formal wear -not business- or as an evening cologne. Highly recommended.

Aromatic Chypre
This fragrance deserves more than a quick statement during lunch break, so here are my impressions.

Eau Noble starts off citrusy, with lemons and oranges wafting into my nose, but without that sour note that makes one sneeze. Rather spicy and underlined with a barely resinous sweetness. Galbanum adds a bittersweet touch. Shortly thereafter, it becomes greener and more aromatic, blooming a little, though I can't really name the varieties. I can perceive the sage in between; it gives a herbaceous green note that I quite like. Eau Noble lingers for a while before oak moss and musk join in to herald the base. And now I wonder, is oak moss really still being used? Or is there now an "oak moss substitute"? Not that I have anything against oak moss; quite the opposite, one would have to ban life if one wanted to eradicate allergies. Nuts can be deadly for some allergy sufferers, yet they still exist (for now, who knows).

Eau Noble is not classified as a Chypre, but for me, it belongs in that category: Aromatic Chypre. No wonder I find this fragrance exceptionally beautiful as an old Chypre enthusiast.

Eau Noble is unisex, with medium to weak longevity and sillage; the sillage quickly retreats to "close to the skin," which I regret a little. From spring to autumn, this water is a good companion.

The scent is classic, with something fragile yet very elegant about it. "Noble little water," a worthy name. The reader can tell I am quite enchanted and will enthusiastically empty my decant. And then, a bottle... we'll see...

Parfumo Comment - Victim Gratefully Thanks!
After “Vie de Château Intense,” which came to me as a blind buy and immediately conquered a spot in my heart, I am now indulging in “Eau Noble.” On vacation, I simply had too much time to keep an eye on the souk - and there, I must confess, the temptation became overwhelming in several cases. But in my defense, I must say: I am completely innocent here, the helpless victim of two commentators on Parfumo! With “Vie de Château Intense,” it was Turandot's description of the fragrance that pushed me over the threshold - and with “Eau Noble,” it was Pluto's comment that magically nudged, pulled, and tugged my index finger to the “Contact” button. Believe me, I heroically tried to resist, but the two were just stronger! And for that, my heartfelt thanks, along with: Kiss your hand and G'schamster Diener! Thank you for your scent descriptions that bring the perfumes to life like an olfactory emotional painting before my inner eye. The two have apparently allied in this case with another perfumer who generously placed a bunker bottle in the souk - and whose additions to the fragrance, I fear, will further contribute to the overcrowding of my perfume drawer as well as the underfunding of my account.

Unfortunately, in life, it is not often that imagination aligns with reality - or even surpasses it, but with “Eau Noble,” this was clearly the case.
The classification as fresh-citrusy does not fit my nose. Right at the beginning, I do smell citrus, more like lime, less sour than lemon, but even here the scent is already delicately green, mildly resinous, and mossy. The green, slightly bitter sage aroma is warmly enveloped in a mossy, very soft earthy note - like a spring in the high forest on a summer day, where sage grows along the banks. Very unexcited and sovereign. It is a classic scent in the sense of being straightforward, not overwhelming, a perfume with a clear direction and style. The name fits the fragrance perfectly. It has something noble, distinguished, and understated - and is light-years away from being boring, generic, or interchangeable.
A real new treasure in my perfume drawer! The only potential threat could be “Essence Noble” from the same house, as the only downside is its longevity. In this case, however, it means: The glass is far more than half full - and I have an excuse for why I keep the travel spray on my desk at hand to simply spritz later.
Clear recommendation for testing to really EVERYONE, but especially to those who usually steer clear of oakmoss. This scent could surprise even skeptics!

Everything was better in the past...
…not so with Le Galion's Eau Noble!

After finally experiencing the test premiere of the reissued Le Galion creation today, I must say, Wow, what a stunning masterpiece and an absolute enrichment of the citrus-fresh fragrance genre.

I had to wait a week for the test, as I gifted the fragrance to my better half for their birthday today, and it has thus found its way into our collection. The wait was definitely worth it, and Eau Noble 2014 has the potential to become one of my favorite scents…

The new version is significantly softer and more powdery than the original from 1972. That scent was more of a herbal-bitter citrus representative in the style of Loewe or YSL Pour Homme.

The scent development is very classic; fresh citrus and green galbanum are quite fleeting, while lavender, sage, and the rose geranium, which I usually shun, remain rather discreet. The base is wonderfully warm-woody and gives the fragrance a certain complexity.

Overall, a 90% candidate and the hope that Le Galion secures a place among the great Parisian perfumers once again and holds onto it…. My wish would be a relaunch of the Eau de Vetyver from the 1960s...

The Meat Lemon
Dear Yatagan, I simply cannot get your image of the meaty lemon from your statement about Le Galion's "Essence Noble" out of my head. Every time I wear or smell Eau Noble, I picture a half-sliced, intensely yellow lemon filled with ground meat.
Somehow creepy and fascinating at the same time.

Yet this fragrance does not deserve my associations.

In the style of the greatest scents like New-York or Chanel's Pour Monsieur, this one stands on equal footing.

From the start, this clear, refreshing lemon presents itself underpinned with plenty of powder and a pinch of green galbanum. Comparable to the lemon from Pour Monsieur; just not quite as authentic.

From the middle to the end, it develops more and more into New-York by Parfums de Nicolaï. Lavender, sage, and rose. All captured directly by the oakmoss and still powdery. Finely balanced and harmoniously intertwined. Truly worth recommending.

The only downside for me is the average longevity and sillage.

A modern fragrance in a classic presentation. For all lovers of the above scents.

Best regards

Subtle understatement with a classically citrusy start and a warm, amber base. Reserved, elegant, and very finely crafted.

Wonderful aromatic chypre fragrance, whose subtle nobility is unlikely to resonate in today's loud world for long.

Close to the original, but much more subtle and adjusted, which noticeably changes the character. Great duality of moss and musk.

Gentle yet characterful, slightly retro Chypre. Incredibly elegant. Remains distinctly citrusy & rather atypically soft-mossy for a Chypre.

No loud fireworks, but still impressive.
Contains everything important without being excessive.
