Surprising Jasmine
I've been wearing Jasmin 17 for a few months now, and I'm still not sure what to think about this perfume. The website description claims that this fragrance willl create "havoc in our circle of male friends". I wouldn't use the term havoc, but I have to admit that A LOT of people have complimented me on this perfume- I was at a party and a guy walked passed me and told me he was truly intrigued by my 'captivating' smell. When I switched perfumes for a day, all my friends were complaining about my new smell and missed the Jasmin 17.

Jasmin 17 opens up with a very fresh and sweet jasmine scent, that is constantly battling with a heady vanilla smell. It is a white floral, but again I have to underline the sweetness of it- which can be a little too much at times. The heart notes offer a very comforting and "round" warm jasmine smell. And the base notes leave a green, citrussy light smell that freshly lingers on clothes.

Three of my friends told me it is somewhat an addictive perfume- because although the smell itself isn't mindblowing, it does entice people in a subtle charming way. Jasmin 17 would be more of a spring perfume because of its floral and fresh aspect, but I've been wearing it throughout autumn and winter and it does deliver some sort of warmth. The only aspect of this perfume that really disappoints me is that its longevity is very weak. Since it is a fresh perfume, the smell quickly evaporates.

But this perfume is for feminine and delicate women, who do know how to charm using their subtle magnetism.

You want to attract a strong gentleman with sad eyes and a delicate constitution. You want the accomplished, academically-minded woman in your life to wonder why she can't stop thinking about you after you leave the room. Regardless of who you are or who the object of your affection is, this perfume will have them losing their mind. I know I lost mine.

Imagine it:

You're a flower-selling peasant who's caught the eye of the recently widowed monarch. You're the creature's would-be prey, rescued at the last moment by the (also recently widowed) monster hunter. You're sweet and innocent and naive, and the ancient unknowable being who lives in the dark depths of the forest suddenly feels alive again when it's with you.

Le Labo wasn't kidding when they said this will wreak havoc. This perfume will ruin lives.

My only gripe is with the price-to-lasting-power ratio. No way I could justify spending this much in my current financial situation without afterpay. Even if I was gifted this, I'd never want to use it in the knowledge of how much it costs to replace. It feels like it's cheating to take points off for this at this point, but no matter how long I've been in this hobby, the absolute audacity of some perfume houses to charge prices like these continues to astound me. Maybe it's kind of a wild idea, but I think everyone should be able to access fragrances that aren't, like, B&BW and Aeropostale.

Like Froot Loops with moth balls
I really like the opening and early middle stages, which are mostly citrusy white floral. It smells a lot like Froot Loops cereal! But I actually like it. Until, that is, the late mid-stage and drydown, when suddenly I’m smelling a strong undercurrent of moth balls. No no no no no! Insert sad face here. I did some research and learned this is due to the presence of indoles, which are common in jasmine and can smell like mothballs to/on some people. I guess I’m one of those unlucky souls. It is kind of amazing how this goes from smelling delightful to absolutely rank on me.

Inoffensive and linear fresh jasmine
Le Labo continues to amaze me with their beautiful simplicity and their workshop-based concepts. Jasmin 17, although not anything outstanding is polite, refined and smooth. Everything that a jasmine soliflore should be.

Sarrasins by Serge Lutens is still my favourite jasmine scent, however when Sarrasins is too dark and rich for Summer, that's where Jasmin 17 comes in. This fragrance is a pretty concoction of light, transparent jasmine, a hint of orange blossom and milky vanilla.

Subtle and fresh, and in some ways innocent, Jasmin 17 is nothing loud or irritating, just delicate jasmine blooms resting softly on the skin. This fragrance is fairly linear, the only development being the appearance of the musk in the drydown.

Like I mentioned before, simplicity is what I admire from this fragrance house. Jasmin 17 goes to show that extreme measures don't need to be taken in order to achieve something lovely and fresh.

The scent also feels rather natural on the skin. There's a definite sweetness in Jasmin 17 that is most likely the result of the jasmine and vanilla blending together rather than a saccharine additive.

This fragrance lasts considerably well and the sillage is moderate, not too strong nor too soft. I highly recommend this fragrance to floral lovers and jasmine fanatics alike.

An effervescent blast of sweet orange citrus with a bit of jasmine, grounded by a creamy sandalwood base. Simple, pleasant, fairly linear.

An oddly sweet but very addictive jasmine.

Floral-sweet with mild fresh qualities, I smell a lot of orange blossom (like in FdO27). Very average profile/execution with no edge.

Milky, vanillic, powdery cloud of goodness. An abstract beauty.

Sweeter and more “vanilla” and “floral” than orange blossom, but lasts longer and has the same essence. Smells so good after a couple hours still. 8.5

The name Jasmine is misleading, as it’s really the overall composition of white floral, orange, and amber notes that impresses.

The true APOM femme. Quite close to APOM Homme, enhanced with a delicate jasmine note. Still unisex and definitely a good alternative.

Floral (that's an insult). Yes, jasmine is there too. Not long-lasting. For a younger audience.
