A Soothing Sensuality
Whether I love SOLO Absoluto or not, I’m here to give you my honest, detailed thoughts. And honestly—this is another spectacular fragrance from Loewe. It’s not an intensified version of the traditional Solo Eau de Toilette; instead, it takes an entirely different path. The most notable difference? The guava note, so central to the original’s charm, is absent. In its place, a beautifully soothing orchid emerges, and that swap alone gives SOLO Absoluto its own personality—soft, warm, and distinctly comforting.
Marketed as a sweet-oriental, woody, spicy, and slightly powdery fragrance, SOLO Absoluto includes notes like lavender, neroli, orchid, sandalwood, frankincense, bergamot, tangerine, wormwood, basil, tonka bean, amber, and musk. On my skin, only a handful of these stand out clearly—but the evolution is where the magic happens. It’s sweeter and deeper than the original SOLO, with a similar vibe after the top notes fade. Yet its development is quite different—more floral, a touch darker, and rich with velvety complexity. The orchid note is especially well-applied: delicate, present from the opening, and lingering gracefully throughout the heart.
I have to say—the first few minutes after spraying offer one of the most beautiful aromas I’ve ever experienced in a fragrance. It’s immediately captivating.
What follows is an elegant, slightly unusual blend: the sweetness of orchid, the resinous woods, and a gorgeous smoky trail of incense. Together, they create something genuinely soothing—like sipping a warm cup of Honey Orchid tea (Mi Lan Xiang), descended from old Phoenix Shui Xian trees with that rare, honeyed depth.
Frankincense and tonka bean stay present from the opening through the dry-down—not overpowering, but just enough to create balance. They never feel cloying or overdone. Instead, they provide structure, grounding the orchid’s sweetness with smooth warmth.
Interestingly, the musk, sandalwood, and other woody notes don’t emerge until hours later. Loewe seems to use a secret formula—the notes don’t unfold in typical order. Instead, they reappear unpredictably, like scent memories coming back in waves. It’s strange, but oddly appealing. The progression feels almost circular—revolving, not linear—and it keeps me engaged each time I wear it. This is a fragrance made for cool weather—perfect for fall, winter, and the early days of spring. It performs beautifully on my skin, with impressive longevity and above-average sillage. Smooth, intimate, and hypnotic.
And let’s not forget the bottle: golden juice housed in clear glass with metallic gold accents—a luxurious vessel for a luxurious scent.
