Scent of the sun slowly setting over a tropical island
Sweet, humid, and very lovable. I was worried I'd hate it based on my prior experience with Solo Ella Eau de Parfum, but they ended up being nothing alike. Huh!
I have to preface this with the fact that I never smelled fresh passionfruit (and found dragon fruit to have a very mellow and whimsical flavor profile that, imo, doesn't translate well into perfumery), so I can't judge if it smells like either of the fruits that it lists. But it is adorable!
There are two visible layers to it. The airy outer cloud cloaks the whole room in a thin mist of sweet peony-flavored cotton candy. Playful and pink. It slowly fades out over the first ~2 hours.
The thicker inner cloud is fruity and wet, with a tangy tropical twist and a gourmand praline backdrop. Well, that and sandalwood. Sandalwood is there and it's, well, itself. I don't love it, but I admit that it fits the composition well.
The playful tartness is my favorite aspect of it. It's like a sweet and sour metaphorical cherry on top of a delicious tropical cake ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
Cutesy, girly, youthful. Not something I'm interested in wearing myself, but imagining it on someone else makes me happy. Feels like something straight out of a "main character's childhood friend from the time he visited a tropical island" fantasy. The lulling sound of ocean waves crashing onto the shore, lively chirping of insects, distant noise of the city – and the way all of that fades away when you see her tan skin illuminated by the setting sun. A sight that goes straight into the "core memories" pile in your brain.
Honestly, if someone told me that this was Paula's Ibiza Cosmic, I would easily have believed them. It may be less traditionally unisex, but it's unique, works great with its sandalwood backdrop, and fits the tropical vacation vibe much better. Also, for what it's worth, I tested it on my partner (noticed no major differences in either flavor or longevity), and thought that it fit him wonderfully.
Once peony and cotton candy disappear after the first ~2 hours, everything else settles on skin. Fruits linger, but become sweeter. As if they ripen on your skin. Praline slowly dissipates, sandalwood becomes more prominent. In another ~2 hours fruits start fading away as well.
Around ~6 hours in all that's left is sandalwood, ambers and a faintly gourmand aftertaste. Sandalwood dominates for another hour, then dissipates. Feeling that there's nothing else interesting this perfume will be able to say, I go take a shower. In a good mood. Content.
