Cotton candy for grown ups

I have to admit, when I first bought this I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t as sugary sweet as I had expected and that I couldn’t discern any cotton candy note. It smelt nice but was just that. Nice. And nothing more.

I revisited my bottle after a few months and I’m not sure if my bottle has had time to develop or my tastes have simply changed over the seasons but White Magnolia has won me over. It’s a gorgeous floral cotton candy scent that is so beautifully blended together. It’s sweet and sophisticated without being juvenile or cloying. I’m glad I held onto my bottle.

Unique but well-liked

I discovered this while living in Spain, and it is my favorite from the Loewe collection.
The yuzu note is a sweeter citrus than orange, lemon, or bergamot, and adds to its uniqueness. The cotton candy note is subtle enough that it doesn't come across as too juvenile or cheap, but adds a quality which makes people want to lean in. The vanilla works well with the cotton candy but is't overwhelming. Magnolia is one of my favorite floral scents and blends well with the other notes. I have been complimented while wearing this by my grandmother as well as friends, and it is definitely buildable strength. I like spraying in my hair as well. I would describe it as a sweet floral that works for all ages, not too young but not too mature at all.
Reminds me of Madrid and carefree times :)

Aura pink cotton candy. With a touch of white magnolia

When I hear "White Magnolia" I think of a pure, fresh floral, but this is very gourmand on my skin and smells more pink than white. Actually, the titular magnolia is the least prominent note to me. It's not non-existant, this scent definitely has a floral aspect, too, but if you want to smell like a blooming magnolia tree, maybe look elsewhere.

The whole base, front and center of this fragrance is the combination of sweet vanilla and cotton candy. It's not the burnt, cloying kind of cotton candy though, together with the other notes it comes across as creamy, smooth caramel. It reminds me of Werther's Caramelts, if you know these. The overall scents still retains the funfair atmosphere, so it makes sense that they listed cotton candy instead of caramel.
The next important note is yuzu. It breaks up the sweetness with a realistic bitter and acidic note, much more than other citruses like lemon or pink grapefruit would. And the magnolia? Well, it adds a clean, creamy backdrop that makes clear that this is a spring and summer fragrance.

It's a simple, but surprising and effective blend of notes. Sweet and playful with a fresh twist. A spring floral for cotton candy girlies, a funfair gourmand for fresh floral ladies. Of course, everyone else who enjoys sweet perfume is welcome, too, regardless of gender.

Invincible Spring

Do you know the famous quote by Albert Camus: “In the midst of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer”?

I think of these words almost every time I wear White Magnolia by Loewe.
Only here, it’s not an invincible summer that I feel within me, but an invincible spring full of floral scents, blue skies, and gentle breezes.
Magnolia and cotton candy are distinctly noticeable, yet very fine and airy, not a bit gooey or sticky. A feather-light, powdery sweetness wraps around me like a scarf made of air, holding me tightly in its embrace.

I wore White Magnolia on one of the darkest days of my life and felt, in a magical way, calmed and comforted by it. As if the fragrance wanted to whisper to me, “Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Life will be beautiful again.” That was the invincible spring that granted me an inner strength I never thought I possessed.

After that, I couldn’t help but buy a bottle. I owed it to the fragrance in a way.

I have not regretted it to this day.

A Flower is a Flower!

For me, as a passionate collector of all scents leaning towards sweet, with a very high pain threshold for "that's too sweet," there has always been a problem: summer! That's when my beloved fragrances and I don't really get along. And I'm always on the lookout for a pretty floral scent that doesn't overwhelm me. Nothing fruity and nothing green should spoil my mood here. As always, when you want it just so, the search was difficult. But those who seek will find, and so I ended up with Aura White Magnolia.

The beginning was already very promising with a lot of flowers. I specifically mention flowers here because I have no clue how magnolias smell. The cotton candy mentioned in the scent progression makes it sweetly lovely, but one shouldn't expect a sugar club. After half an hour, vanilla wants to join in, and by now, the scent becomes a little dream. It feels like being nestled in a cocoon of soft flowers that lift your spirits, and the day becomes beautiful at this point. It should also be mentioned that I have no idea what a yuzu fruit smells or tastes like. I can't smell any fruit at the end of the scent either. Perhaps finer noses than mine have more success here.

Conclusion: I wanted a beautiful floral scent and only flower. I definitely got that here 100%. If one doesn't mind the rather linear scent progression too much, Aura White Magnolia is the perfect choice. Furthermore, the longevity of about 6 - 8 hours is absolutely sufficient for my needs. In spring or summer, I can truly recommend this scent dream to anyone. Here is the flower garden in a bottle, waiting to be discovered.
