Thick, resinous incense with citrus
I didn't know what to think of this perfume at first. Yet after a couple of wearings, Lush Icon has become a guilty pleasure.

It's a powerful fragrance, there's no denying it. It smelt like disinfectant at first, with strong pine and citrus. It was an intense olfactory experience, but once settled there's something very likable about Icon.

I get mostly honeyed and woodsy incense with subtle hints of zesty citrus. In some ways it's quite a masculine fragrance, so with that in mind, I'd label Icon as being unisex. The myrrh is somewhat of an acquired taste in Icon, being rather sweet and resinous. Although extremely rich and sometimes a little overbearing, I can't help loving Icon, particularly during this cold, rainy weather I'm currently experiencing at present time.

Icon is not necessarily a churchy incense fragrance, instead it's a dark and resinous interpretation. I like this fragrance because it's unusual and intense, however for some it may be a little too much.

Icon lasts quite well, however I expected it to be a lot longer lasting to be honest. I'm talking in terms of lasting a whole day. All in all, a very alluring and mysterious fragrance that does grow on you, that is if it doesn't captivate you at first sniff.

Dark Purple-Gold-Speckled Power Elixir
When I bought Icon at the Lush shop in Covent Garden, London, the saleswoman was immediately enthusiastic and said she would always wear the scent when she wanted to feel "powerful." I can only agree, what a fragrance! Unusual, indeed.

It is not for those who wish to remain olfactorily discreet in the background; however, it completely lacks any vulgar intrusiveness, as it has too much style. It is also not suitable for when one is going about their daily, mundane breadwinning, but rather demands special occasions, like grand, evening outings.

The dark, heavy notes (sandalwood, myrrh/the dark purple) are brightened by the fresher notes (orange blossom, bergamot/the golden speckles). I almost want to describe this scent as "gothic," but not in the sense of the clichés known here (since there is no patchouli), rather more as "victorian gothic." Lush itself has referred to it in the past as "byronesque," a lovely and understandable description, I think.

Icon was first available over twelve years ago, then disappeared for a while, only to reappear a few years ago. May it continue to enchant the world (well, at least its fans) for a long time to come!

Candied orange peels with a heap of myrrh. Smells dark, mystical, and at the same time festive - "A Christmas Carol" in fragrance.

Dark, unsweet O-flower with lots of myrrh + warm sandalwood
Dark, smoky, spicy, rich
Somehow gives me associations with the Middle Ages.

Has nothing to do with previous versions. Dark, bitter, unsweet, not nice. I returned it. What is Lush thinking? I'm really disappointed.

Light floral note of orange blossom, only the sandalwood accord and the accompanying myrrh have some staying power.
