Not bad, not bad
When I first tried Humus, it smelled nice, like sweetened pine sap. There were damp, green notes. Smells like a humid forest and bright green plants. I just wish it stayed that way. Within 20 minutes, it began to morph into a soapy, generic musk scent that eventually dried down to something that smells like clove or a cinnamony aromachemical, but it completely loses that wonderful humidity that I loved in the beginning. Base notes are listed as pine and vetiver? Definitely not the case on my skin.

This brand in general smells very synthetic/chemical to my nose, although they try to make things smell like nature. Unfortunately nothing from Mad et Len have really struck a chord within me.

Humus lasts several hours, though it's mostly a skin scent the whole time, which is totally fine. Definitely worth a sample.

Humus is not a winged word.
On my front door steps, there are coniferous plants on the first and last ledge.
So I can always say, look here, these are my upper and lower jaws.

The connoisseur knows that the humus content of soils can vary widely. It can be calculated from measurements of the organic carbon content of the soil by multiplying these values by the factor 1.72 (for peat and surface humus, the factor is 2). The humus content depends on the soil horizon, the plant cover, the climate, the soil moisture, and the land use. There are also significant differences in the distribution of humus in the soil: In forest soils, the majority of humus lies as a more or less thick layer (see humus forms) above the mineral soil (surface humus, raw humus). In agriculturally used mineral soils, humus is intimately mixed with the mineral component. The content decreases rapidly from top to bottom. The average humus content of cultivated mineral soils is 1.8-2.5% in the topsoil, while in grassland soils, it averages 5-8% in the upper 10 cm. Higher humus contents are typical for clayey soils, moist to wet soils, and soils in high rainfall climates. Highly aerated sandy soils have lower humus contents (1-2%). And that means something.

In light of these facts, everyone must understand here, we are NOT talking about the litter, but exclusively about the raw humus, which comes out incredibly pure in this perfume.
A massively penetrating, vaporous, bathwater-like, piney head, heart, and base note desolates my lustrous nostrils. With this perfume, you suddenly find yourself unexpectedly in the mixed pine thicket. Be prepared for it. Experience resinous, ethereal versatility, and all without a horse.
This is exactly the scent that Hansel and Gretel had in their noses, even before gingerbread and roasted substances. Unfortunately, the longevity and intensity of this mixture also resemble the lifespan of the childish fairy tale figures.
I prefer to stick with the witch.

Confession
Woe betide you if you laugh at me - I can tell! And I become terribly... sad *sniff*
I have to confess something - among all my fragrances in the collection with their often poetic names, the expensive (or supposedly expensive) ingredients, the stylish bottles... which are sometimes not so budget-friendly (and which I all like very much), I have a secret passion for Wick Vaporup (and actually also for the old dark green, bath-tinting pine needle cold remedy from Aldi). However, as a daytime scent, it doesn't come off well - it gets annoying over time when everyone asks if you have a cold.

Here, chance or my eternal curiosity came to my aid:
I blindly dug out a leftover bottle of Humus, just a tiny bit left, perfect for satisfying my curiosity. Because I had no great expectations for the scent at all. How pleasant can mushrooms and rock be? And then the fragrance is called Humus... Who on earth wants to smell like that??

And then came the surprise:
Humus smells like Wick Vaporup and pine needle bath, along with a moist-warm birch infusion vibe from a Finnish sauna, complete with wooden benches. Underneath lies a deep, dark earthy note, with mineral sprinkles that smell almost cool in comparison. Over time, the scent becomes a bit softer, leaning more towards the forest than cold remedies. Fortunately, I don't perceive any mushrooms - while I do enjoy eating them, I don't need to smell like them.
The longevity and sillage are pleasantly good; even with a light application, it lasts 8 hours at a good arm's length. After about 4 hours, however, it becomes more intimate.

Since my leftover bottle is now empty, the scent is very high on my wish list. I need to get it again so that I can continue to smell secretly uncanny like Wick Vaporup in my everyday life :-D

Wick maybe, Vaporup definitely not
Mad et Len's "Humus" is currently my absolute favorite fragrance! After years of mourning the disappearance of Gucci's "Rush for Men" (2003) and a life induced by that in complete scentlessness, the recent nose contact with "Humus" shocked me like a pacemaker and brought me back into the world of fragrances. I am greatly excited by the suspected high proportion of synthesized mineral scent notes (salt, pebbles, sand, flint, gunpowder(!), ...) in both fragrances for reasons unknown to me, although here only stone and (stone) mushroom are listed as scent notes. To be continued.

Pine without "Sutherland", but with plenty of moss and fresh earth
Clearly: here I have a high-quality forest spirit before me, which can be both bright and cheerful, as well as somewhat "dark-grim." It transports you to Nordic forests that are sun-drenched in summer and barely dark even at night.
In spring and autumn, it is bathed in mild light during the "transitional period," and in winter, it hardly sees daylight. All seasons are united within it.
There is not a single moment where it becomes dull or boring. It remains exciting and mysterious until the end.
No, I am not referring to a film with actor Kiefer Sutherland, who has also portrayed a survivor away from civilization. Rather, I mean a truly masterfully composed fragrance from "Mad et Len," which perhaps bears the wrong name despite its class. For under "Humus," many fragrance enthusiasts imagine a "musty" and "oily" scent character. The opposite is true: a grassy-green "form" that transforms into "forest," specifically a coniferous forest. Fresh and green. And yet with a fine-dark-slightly-bitter-woody undertone that evokes a great deal of depth. The depth of a Siberian or Northern Canadian coniferous forest, where it alternates between damp to wet and then dry. Full of aromas from all possible weathers. From summer heat, autumn rain, spring sun, wintry cold snowy air, moist moss, and ferns on which droplets sparkle. And full of mysterious twilight in early spring and late autumn.
My nose and my spirit can only rave: "WONDERFUL"!!!

Initially very mossy, the scent becomes earthy, bitter, evoking the smell of old bark. Quite demanding, damp cool stones, delicate mushrooms.

Damp forest floor, wet rocks. The pine needles have been crushed and release their essential oils. It’s quiet and dark.

Franzbrantwein, Alpa, 79 cents for 100 ml or Humus, Mad et Len, 109.00 euros for 50 ml. Result is the same: scent of pine, invigorating.

At first, it smells like polish, then like a mix of moss and conifers. You have to like something like this, and I do.

The short opening note, oh, is heavenly! After that, it's very very very very very close to "Relax" by Davidoff. Which is truly not a bad thing!
