Black Afghan
Black Afghan starts as a pitch-black smoke bomb, like freshly taken from the pyre, intense, yet not screaming and scratchy. A campfire in a pine forest. Zero synthetic notes detectable, pure natural scent of burnt wood. As it develops, the smoke clears and reveals in the dark depths the underlying glow of a subtle resinous sweetness.

Unfortunately, it is very close to the skin from beginning to end, even with many sprays. So it's more for private enjoyment than for everyday wear, as you really have to push other people’s noses into it, quite literally. I had to get it solely because of the scent, but the wonderful constellation of black logs quickly collapses, crumbling to ash and being swept away by the night wind. A fragrance like a campfire with the sillage and longevity of a tea light, unfortunately, unfortunately. A scent for the moment, a brief, fantastic flash, a will-o'-the-wisp in the forest that quickly escapes the senses, yet burns itself into the olfactory memory as a pleasant reminder.

Black Afghan is a unique perfume, for me one of the best scents from Mad et Len, alongside Graphite and Red Square.

Relentlessly Smoked Leather
Right after applying it, I had to laugh heartily. The scent hit my nose so impressively direct, cheeky, leathery, and smoky, simply relentless... but I found it really delicious. Many more fragrance notes didn’t come through for me. Unfortunately, the scent had completely vanished after 2-3 hours. As a standalone fragrance, Black Afghan is only conditionally suitable for everyday wear. However, I layered it with Oud Muataq, and the wickedly smoked leather really shone through in the fragrance fullness.

Dense Resin Layer at the Bottom of Dark Souls
Black Afghan is a truly impressive, eerie, and extremely intense fragrance that is hard to come by. I sincerely thank Terra for providing me with a sample.

One must imagine the first contact with this specimen like this:
You are literally overwhelmed by a powerful spiciness that carries fir and cones within it. Thoughts slide wildly into a dark forest, where you remain captivated for a long time. The fragrance itself is strongly underpinned by the lush, green woods, which form a strong and extremely stable framework.

Only when you have come to terms with the situation that you have been completely swallowed by the forest does a truly dreamy resinous note emerge. Balsamic, it stirs on the skin and draws thick threads down the wearer's skin. Down to the bare heels, which stand firm in the wet ground of the forest. The whole experience is enveloped by a gentle note of incense, which stealthily enters the mix and gives the fragrance a certain mysterious quality. However, the perfume is only lightly "smoky"; rather, it is thickly resinous, which triggers a veritable torment of wild thoughts.

The heart is thus reached. Resin, densely embedded in the forest, which not only swallows foreign shadows but also one’s own. A thick resin layer spread out at the bottom of dark souls. Packed in an almost never-ending forest that exudes enchanting scents. The woody notes are perfectly integrated here and feel so natural that you believe you are directly smelling a tree that has opened its bark for resin.

One would think that a leather whip gently caresses the skin. It wants to strike, but somehow still remains quite tame. This is how the leather presents itself in Black Afghan. It approaches you very softly, flatters you, and suddenly it hits you with full force. The leather almost craves the resin, embraces it, and slowly falls to the dense layer, almost soundlessly, like a feather, to the bottom of dark souls.

Black Afghan becomes drier and drier. The resin no longer shines as it did at the beginning and begins to stagnate on the skin. It almost seems frozen. Yet this does not diminish the fragrance. Everything still feels so harmonious that the forest still does not reveal the shadows. A slight animalistic feeling always lingers here. Like a ton-heavy pendulum.

However, Black Afghan does not have a powerful sillage. No. Rather, it remains present for itself and its wearer and does not let go of them. It only takes away what it has control over. And that is only the wearer themselves. The longevity stretches almost throughout the entire day. As the perfume slowly begins to fade, one feels almost liberated. The dense resin layer is packed away again. The bottom of dark souls is once more filled with life and rises into the clouds.

I had the feeling that Black Afghan was pulling me down. Like an anchor that buries itself deep in the seabed. Yet this excites me, and I find this sensation not at all unpleasant, but rather particularly interesting.

This one has nothing to do with the Black Afgano from Nasomatto. This Afghan here speaks volumes of naturalness and presents itself as a small souvenir from nature-the supposedly evil.

From nature. From the forest. When it is dark and almost silent.

Opi with the Hookah
wow... this is an impressive scent. In many fragrances, I have already detected a camphor note, but here I smell original spirit of wine in the opening. As a baby, I was probably rubbed with it from time to time, just for relaxation. Otherwise, you usually smell something like this on older people, it's said to help with rheumatic complaints. As the fragrance develops, it becomes more resinous, drier. Indeed like hashish. Not as if it were burning, evaporating. But simply the pressed resin. However, it is an extremely "fresh" harvest, as if the resin had just fallen from the freshly harvested female flowers. Wonderful. Slightly fresh, ethereal, resinous, and totally stoned :). Better not wear it if you run into a police check ;).

This scent here is finally not a terrible Black Afgano copy, but it actually smells very natural and could indeed remind one of cannabis.

The next fragrance I want, I must have - at least as a sample. Really beautiful.

So far, I haven't smelled a more beautiful and darker leather scent. Pure smoke and leather, that's all it takes to make me smile. Wearability? H/S?

Pure burnt + burning wood. Now that's a campfire. Pitch black and hellishly good. H/S unfortunately also hellish, i.e. underground... :(

Initially very smoky (like smoked tea!), it then becomes sweet and lightly smoky.

Resinous-woody with lovely smoke and rough leather, though the leather is rather subtle. Monotonous, yet beautiful and natural. Unfortunately, it is...

A dense perfume that just bursts with resinous notes.
Black Afghan roars in the dark forest and swallows all shadows.

Beautiful, refined, dark, and natural leather scent that thankfully has 0.0 to do with BA. Probably one of the best leather fragrances. ...

To produce 50ml, the clothing of 50 orcs is needed and distilled. The naming is just a distraction. Nasomatto in 3D nature.

Charred wood, hot metal, smokehouse. Unbearable for everyday use. More suited for a medieval market or blacksmith convention.

Starts off loud and incense-heavy. Transitions to a soft, dry resin scent. I really enjoy those few minutes in between!

When sprayed, it hits you with a full blast of dark brown resin and sharp leathery wood, which quickly softens into a sweet smoky cough drop.
