woody vanilla with a twist
This starts with a gentle vanilla and dry smoked wood (the copaiva?) but immediately turns to take on a sweet cereal grain note that reminded me of Parfumerie Generale’s Une Crime Exotique. (UCE, while beautiful, grew to smell sweeter and sweeter to me, until I couldn’t wear it any more. Mercifully, Petits Papiers is less sweet.) At 6 hours, it is back to a soft woody vanilla, a real comfort scent. It’s a good choice for those of us who like our comfort scents unsugared.

Writing History
The name and the bottle immediately brought to mind ancient scripts and stories.
The scent wants to show me that it is timeless and distant, yet it whispers beautiful stories in my ear. I really like this simplicity, and with black, I can certainly not say no.

However, the fragrance disappoints me. I expected a very demanding, smoky scent. But what came out was a flop and absolutely unusable for my skin and my feelings.

Petits Papiers Nobile, let's call it PPN for short, descends upon me like a sea of plastic. It gives me an artificial impression - as if the sun were beating down on empty plastic bottles and everything around is pressing down on it. Unpleasant! On top of that, a very bright, almost pale wood note sneaks in, slightly overshadowed by patchouli. A mixture that is simply not successful here. It has a subtly balsamic edge, somewhat flat and smoky at the base. The heart beats indecisively - no spark ignites here, and I feel bored.

Over time, it becomes a bit sweeter, and benzoin spits a little fire into the mix. That’s about it. What remains is just a bit of light wood, this strange scent of artificiality, and a bit of patch. Everything is very light and by no means dark. The smoke is completely disappointing here. Nothing feels dense. Nothing deep and unpredictable. It is a flat smoke that lingers at the bottom and occupies no one and nothing.

Longevity is not bad, sillage is the same. But still, it is not a masterpiece for such a scent coming from such an exciting house.

PPN wanted to write history with its first impression.
With all that is written on it, with all that it visually presents.

What has come out is rather a burning papyrus sheet where nothing is written!

It smells like opening a packet of vanilla sugar and sniffing it... And a bit of paper d'Armenie added...

My child's paper from Armenia.
Smoke and vanillin.
Lots of benzoin. Little development.
Wintry aura.

When it was time to write about the scent, the pen broke, the paper tore. Sour-soft-fruity-smoky ink runs.

I can't understand the hype around this synthetic-woody, subtly spicy balsamic, almost disharmoniously bright-spicy scent.

The opening is like lighting a fireplace, the drydown like a packet of vanilla sugar. I like it! :-)

Smells like glowing d'Arménie paper, unlike Guerlain's Bois d'Armenie, less perfumey and powdery, more smoky and earthy.

Sweet, slightly smoky, lots of benzoin and a hint of patchouli. Decent longevity and a subtle scent aura. The spark just doesn’t ignite for me.

This scent smells just like Ütje's smoked almonds. Incredible. If you love those almonds, you'll get addicted to this fragrance like I did.

Warm and dark, a hint of rum pot. Smoky but not scratchy, sweet but not sticky. H+S above average, not for heavy sprayers.

A unique experience. Very impressive, extraordinary scent - masculine, delicious, rich. Give it a try!
