High-Class Under the Radar!!
The theme of Russian Leather has been executed extremely well. It opens with a green, naturally smelling leather that is neither dirty nor rustic, which is very pleasant and intense. I would say that the leather accounts for a good 50% here, and the rest is evenly balanced. It has a slightly cool and dark feel reminiscent of a coniferous forest, and it is neither fresh nor dry. You can smell all the notes; the lavender fits excellently, but personally, I am not a fan of it. Its woody and slightly peppery character is maintained until the end, and it does not undergo any development during that time. Russian Leather goes straight down one path! Towards the end, it becomes slightly ambroxan-like, and not much else happens…
A small downside: The performance could have been a bit better, but it is still completely in the green zone.
My conclusion: I found it very strange that such a good fragrance is completely unknown, smells high-class, and flies under the radar!
Molton Brown Russian Leather is, on one hand, a bad boy scent, and on the other hand, it is also very elegant and naturally smelling without any frills!
People looking for a green leathery/woody fragrance without an oud and patchouli note will be completely satisfied!! It is worth a blind buy ;)) Thumbs up for the Russian friend ;))
