Sad Niche

I’m really sad about how niche perfumery is fading into grey.

I remember when it was about art, originality, class, it was an artistic expression. I really can’t believe that somebody is gonna spend a lotta money on this, to smell like a common Sephora whatever designer perfume.

I’m really bored, the niche world has just become a trend, you can throw whatever juice in a bottle and emulate a designer cologne but as long as the price tag is high, you’re niche.

I’m going back to my roots, to L’Artisan and Diptyque. The modern stuff is absolutely “spot off”.

On a cold autumn day in...

... Rome. I stroll through the park of the Villa Borghese. I am enveloped by the aromas of the trees and flowers. From somewhere comes the scent of freshly brewed coffee. My leather shoes are slightly damp and exude the aroma of leather, and somewhere in the garden, wood is being burned.

Upon applying this fragrance, the first thing that hits the nose is a light sweet floral vanilla scent that merges with the spiciness of pepper and licorice. From the very back, there is a hint of something citrusy fresh. This scent takes on a slightly masculine quality from the coffee and leather. Furthermore, there are both woody and charred woody notes that make this fragrance very mature. The spicy accords that creep in remain present throughout, giving the scent a certain dark note. Jean-Michel Santorini, the perfumer, has created a fine noble fragrance here that has some edges and character. What I cannot understand is that there are some statements that really devalue this scent; it certainly does not deserve that.

The longevity and sillage are good.

Here we have a unisex fragrance that I see more suited for gentlemen than for refined ladies. I would also say that this scent really comes into its own from around 25 years old. It is a fragrance that can be worn well except on really hot days. I can easily imagine this scent making a good impression during the day in a well-tailored suit in the office, at a meeting, at a business dinner, or simply after work while shopping. This fragrance is so cheeky that I can also envision it in the evening on a man in jeans with a shirt and leather jacket at a rock concert, but also at dinner or in a club. Ladies can certainly give this fragrance a try; one or another will surely enjoy it.

For those who like a sweet, spicy, light fresh vanilla scent with a spicy and charred woody accent, this brand Nobile 1942 is a great choice, and at a reasonable price too.

Nobile 26 is a beautifully spicy-sweet fragrance

The scent starts off beautifully spicy sweet, it reminds me a bit of Le Male, I can only minimally detect the licorice, the other notes are so intertwined that I can't really pick out a single note, I find that perfect.
The longevity and sillage are in the upper third, not a monster but definitely present, wearable everywhere in the winter months!

Bella Italia in a Bottle

Now my vacation in Italy is over.
Italy never ceases to amaze me with its history, architecture, fashion, and of course, with many perfume houses.
This year, I was really looking forward to the trip to Italy because a visit to a perfumery was definitely on my agenda.
In a small holiday town on the Adriatic coast, I discovered a perfumery that was somewhat old-fashioned and conservative; time seemed to have stood still there, and one could take a "journey into the past." But that was exactly what fascinated and attracted me. It was surprising that such a small perfumery had a really large selection of Nobile 1942 fragrances, including Nobile 26.
I didn't fall in love with the scent immediately. The first time, I bought another fragrance and received Nobile 26 as a sample.
The next morning, I sprayed the fragrance: it starts off quite masculine, even sharp with bergamot and mandarin (I didn't perceive any licorice). At first, I thought: oh dear, what kind of men's fragrance is this?
Then I got a bit distracted, and after a while, I smelled a soft wave of vanilla, woody and citrus notes. I keep noticing the scent again and again. It calms me and creates a good mood. I feel like I'm in a gentle aura that I never want to leave.
I must say, I first tested the fragrance at the beach and only thought: what will it be like in Germany, in a different climate?
But the scent did not disappoint me. In Germany, I noticed exactly the same development, and beautiful memories come flooding back!
