Rose Scent with Boogers
The scents of MDCI perfumes have always intrigued me, but, as it should be, this was mainly due to the wonderful bottles rather than the scents themselves. You can say what you want (or call me a bottle victim… :D), but there’s a saying for a reason: “The eye smells too!”
Hmm… or was it more like “The nose eats too!”? Am I mixing something up here? :D Considering that if you really sniff hard, you might end up with boogers in your mouth (only to swallow them down!... I hope you’re not eating something with raisins in it while reading this :DD), then the latter saying might actually hold true… and yes, yes, I know, I can be disgusting sometimes :DD
Unfortunately, we don’t have any MDCI scents in niche perfumeries around here (or I just haven’t noticed them yet), so I haven’t been able to test many of them so far (actually almost none). But now I finally got to test a scent more extensively thanks to a sample. And as luck would have it, this is once again a women’s fragrance :DD
Rose de Siwa is named after the roses in the oasis of Siwa in Egypt. The scent is supposed to evoke the feeling of a fresh oasis in the midst of a hot desert, where you finally arrive after crawling more than walking through the desert, begging and whining for “Water… water!” Then you are lured in by the fresh and sweet rose scent and somehow feel really angry to find beautiful roses in the oasis instead of water,… no matter how pretty the roses are! Then you can only hope that the thirsty one doesn’t gather his last strength in a fit of rage to trample all the roses :D
For the most part, you primarily smell the roses, which have a nice, lovely, slightly tart, and also naturally slightly sweet scent. And as mentioned, this rosy scent remains quite unchanged for a long time.
Only from the base do you gradually start to perceive other scents, with the roses still being very present and therefore the most intense. You begin to notice a slightly darker sweetness, which should come from the musk. This also smells beautifully clean and pure. By the way, I don’t think you can smell vetiver and cedar at all.
All in all, the scent has become a very beautiful rose fragrance.
I would say the longevity is about five to six hours at most. Because despite a decent dose, after about a maximum of six hours, only a faint breeze remained on my skin, which hardly smelled like anything anymore.
So, the scent mainly smells of roses. But what is the difference to other rose fragrances? Especially those from the mainstream sector, where there are also some beautiful rose scents, like Chloé’s “Roses de Chloé,” which is truly wonderful? Well, actually not much, as it’s just a well-made rose scent without any particular strengths or weaknesses, that smells natural, fresh, and nice, but strictly speaking, olfactorily, it doesn’t offer anything more than the good and cheaper mainstream options.
With such scents, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they are satisfied with a Chloé scent or not. However, if one does decide to go for the more expensive scent, they might as well opt for the most expensive version with the sculpture bottles to also get a great bottle, but of course, that’s up to each individual.
Scent-wise, the fragrance is certainly very recommendable for rose lovers, but the fine differences to other (good) rose scents will probably only be recognized by professionals or true rose enthusiasts. By the way, the scent fits wonderfully with the current hot days, as it smells fresh as described and is not overwhelming. Additionally, rose is always a nice alternative to the bright, sweet scents if you want to wear it for going out, although the colorful sweet scents, as I always say, make one seem more delicious, he he.
However, a rose scent does come across as more elegant.
Hmm… somehow I’m feeling a slight hunger… a raisin roll would be nice right now, don’t you think?… :D

The Scent:
You immediately smell a beautiful rose. It appears fresh because the top note is generally fresh and clean. I also detect fresh or spring-like, but indeterminate other flowers, something fruity, which I assume could be lychees, as well as a powdery-sweet clean note that I attribute to violets. For the most part, you primarily smell the roses, which have a nice, lovely, slightly tart, and also naturally slightly sweet scent. And as mentioned, this rosy scent remains quite unchanged for a long time.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is okay, or at least above average. The scent will be noticeable without overwhelming anyone, of course, if you don’t overdo it with the dosage. I think you leave a small scent cloud in your immediate vicinity for a little while. I would say the longevity is about five to six hours at most. Because despite a decent dose, after about a maximum of six hours, only a faint breeze remained on my skin, which hardly smelled like anything anymore.
The Bottle:
The bottle, like all bottles from this brand, is inspired by ancient columns, so it is divided accordingly into base, shaft, and capital. The regular versions are topped with a gilded and cylindrical cap. The so-called Limoges editions feature a porcelain bust on the cap, which is handcrafted and looks really great to me. However, the bust edition is quite a bit more expensive than the “normal” bottles, which, while also beautiful, seem a bit less spectacular next to the bust editions. So, the scent mainly smells of roses. But what is the difference to other rose fragrances? Especially those from the mainstream sector, where there are also some beautiful rose scents, like Chloé’s “Roses de Chloé,” which is truly wonderful?
