more My Little Pony collection than noble winged steed

Parfums de Marly's Pegasus Exclusif, and maybe I am extrapolating a bit from the brand’s copy, promises a ride on the back of a flying stallion, a journey into a realm of masculine virility and exhilarating power. But I think we need to temper our expectations; the description would have us believe this is the fragrant equivalent of a noble winged steed, all myth and muscle, soaring through the heavens, presumably being the fantastical equine embodiment of toxic masculinity. I'm not saying that I actually wanted any of that, but instead, what we are presented with is a pastel carousel pony, all heliotrope powdered sugar and cracked porcelain. Now, there are some things I am not up to speed on here, which is to say that Pegasus Exclusif implies the existence of a Pegasus not-so-Exclusif, and if that is the case, I haven’t smelled that yet, and maybe that one is a dusty plastic marzipan macaron as well… so I am not sure how this one differs. And unlike other reviewers, I don’t get anything complex or dark or rich out of this perfume; the promised depth and complexity and woods and spices never materialize, leaving a one-dimensional sweetness and a sense of artificial whimsy that smells more like a My Little Pony collection than the epic journey of a majestic beast.

Gorgeous almonds paired wirh florals

Oh, what a beautiful scent. This is a fragrance that many folks, even people that don’t like many things perfume-related, have complimented me on. This is basically the OG-Pegasus with more almonds and a bit of oud.

Hours go by and you still get whiffs of sweet/bitter almonds every hot minute. The sillage is to be reckoned with; do yourself a favour and go easy on the trigger! The scent performs well and can be worn in any season, somehow, though it might be best to only wear it outside on a hot day; else, you might choke out some people.

I hope this review is helpful and perhaps motivated you to try out this flagship of a fragrance.

Good combination of Pegasus and Layton Exclusif

Love PDM especially Herod. I liked both original Pegasus and Layton Exclusif too but didn’t like them enough to pull the trigger on the full bottle. The original Pegasus was a little to punchy and sharp in the opening and that’s why I didn’t love it. I gladly was able to try the Pegasus Exclusif at Nordstrom. OMG!!! Love it so much at the first sniff and got the 125ml bottle right away. It doesn’t have the sharp aggressive opening and it’s definitely warmer, darker, smokier, smoother than the original. I love they added cardamom and Oud to it. I also love the bitter almond. It has the exclusif accord that I love. It feels like a mix of the Pegasus original and Layton Exclusif so this is a perfect combination of the 2 of my ‘likes’ (then it became LOVE). It’s a 10/10 for me.

The best lightweight parfum ever semelt

Im impressed by how the accord between spices , vanilla , almond is a succes you will discover those olfactory notes on another olfactive angle ( very different than desinger ) . The smell is strong and lightweight ( transparent ) powerfull sillage , the smell pervades the room even when you leav it and so long lasting (14h) i remembered depiste i washed my dress it sill smeling for me it 's the best perfume of marly . The 2nd is : ojan 3 : layton

Not that much more powerful than the original

I was never too much of a fan of the original Pegasus, so I wasn’t expecting much from this edition of the scent.

However, the opening of Exclusif, is a much better balance of notes than its predecessor. This one doesn’t feel like a bomb of almond and vanilla. Instead, there is a tad more of the bergamot citrus, a better spice from pink pepper, and the soft heliotrope.

I’m still getting some of that almond and vanilla, but I also don’t get the same sort of chemical overhang that I do with the original (maybe it’s just me who got that smell).

After 10 minutes or so, the pink pepper and bergamot have faded substantially. Cardamom steps up and I get more of the influence of the middle notes. Yes, almond and vanilla are here for the duration, still not completely dominating anything.

It’s softer with a dry freshness to it. On my skin, I pick up lavender and geranium jockeying for influence at different times during this wear. I do like when the geranium hits its heaviest, really adding a colder aromatic vibe to the blend.

The main difference between Pegasus Exclusif and the original, is the guaiac wood. The sandalwood probably also has a stronger influence here than in the original. However, the warmth and smokiness that is unleashed here by the guaiac is a really great addition.

The dry down is much the same. It’s woodier for sure, but we still get the vanilla and some almond that’s left. It’s an ambery wood finish with those two other notes adding support at the tail end.
