Volupté Noire Pierre Guillaume 2025

Dates soaking in over-brewed black tea, astringent and mouth-coating, that dry tannic bite married to sticky, crystallized sweetness. Dark musky honey, earthy and animalic, refined in the way something becomes after a thousand years of being wild - it evolved, got that shit out of its system. Heavy like a weighted blanket, enveloping, calming rather than crushing or claustrophobic.

This is the witch in the woods who turned out to be just a person whose heart was too good, whose reputation for darkness came from living apart, looking strange, choosing solitude. You went seeking magic or answers or maybe just got lost, and she poured you tea in a chipped Limoges cup, offered a shoulder to cry on, pulled out the good French biscuits kept for guests who never come. She wrapped you in a cashmere throw gone soft from years of use, pressed soft woolen slippers into your hands, gestured to the chair by the fire that's clearly the most cushy, cozy comfortable one. Abundance in unexpected places, richness where you thought there'd only be shadows.

It makes you feel powerful and protected simultaneously, wrapped in care that looks forbidding from the outside, but inside is all velvet cushions and warm stones and things worn soft by love. The sweetness and bitterness work together, sticky dates and bitter tea conspiring toward comfort, quiet luxury in weathered textiles and secret stores of good honey, the kind you'd want to find if the world got too sharp, too bright, too much. A dark, warm space that welcomes without questions, that knows what you need before you ask, will hide the bodies in the best places.

This perfume caught me completely off guard, quite literally.

After spraying it on, a cloud rises at first that smells medicinal. Then the linden joins in, unfolding in a somewhat almost menthol-like and metallic way, with a subtly sweet spiciness in the background; I also detect a certain sharpness.

The fragrance comes across as green, juicy and fresh to me, somehow herbaceous with bitter or tart nuances as well, yet still pleasant and clear. I also associate a kind of danger with it.

Later, the fragrance becomes darker and more balsamic, softer overall, and the edges blur.

The linden remains like a common thread for me until the end, not in the foreground, but present and never cloyingly sweet.

Volupte Noire lasts a very long time even on me, remaining clearly noticeable for at least 7 hours. I can still smell it directly on my arms after 12 hours.

This fragrance completely surprised me, which I probably also owe to my skin.

In any case, it is unique to me and has become an absolute candidate for purchase, something I would not have expected, as I had previously read the not exactly positive reviews.

I can only urge everyone: Always test for yourself, and perhaps you will experience such surprises too.

With a glance at the previous opinions, one can see little positive feedback and commonalities regarding the critical points. Therefore, I am genuinely surprised that I cannot join in but have found pleasure in this scent.

This seems to be a special love story between Volupte Noire and my skin, which I do not want to hinder.

For me, the fragrance starts in a fine balance between fresh bergamot and sweet date, with the fruity, rather sweet davana leaning more towards the date.
The middle and heart of Volupte Noire are undoubtedly characterized by floral notes, which do not always appeal to me.
However, I really like the trio of jasmine, linden, and other white flowers here.
The linden exudes a very fine sweet and almost honey-like scent, while the white flowers come across extremely clean and pure, which seems exceptionally good and harmonious.

This beautiful floral image is supported by a base that is primarily dominated by amber. The honey interacts excellently with the linden.

I cannot draw comparisons to "Baccarat Rouge 540 (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian," as I find clear differences here, particularly the absence of the saffron note, which I did not really like in Baccarat.
The sweetness is also not too much or indefinable; the dates remain authentic and carry the gourmand aspect delicately throughout the entire progression.

Longevity and sillage are quite potent; however, I do not perceive Volupte Noire as too dense or overloaded. For colder days, it puts me in a positive mood and reminds me, thanks to the floral heart, of the sunnier months of the year, which I am already longing for again.

Perhaps it is simply a special rendezvous of my skin with Volupte Noire?
