Spicy-Dark-Warm
Well, I can sense the chocolate, which means I know which note is meant, but primarily I smell Artemisia. And not Artemisia absinthium, the wormwood, which would be more bitter, but Artemisia vulgaris, the common mugwort. A culinary herb that aids digestion with rich dishes, such as roast goose. We all know it as a weed in the garden or by the roadside. And I can directly feel the silvery velvety flower clusters between my fingers. But a weed is a plant whose virtues are (still) unknown. Mugwort is spicy-bitter and aromatic.
The aroma is muted by the balsamic fine resinous notes of benzoin resin and labdanum, which add a hint of sweetness. The leather note brings a dark and slightly dirty softness to the fragrance, acting as a balance.

I also find it not loud, and it remains - at least for me - quite close to the skin. I can't detect any fruitiness at all.

I find the scent very interesting. No fruits, no flowers, neither woods nor animal notes, and yet the fragrance has a pronounced character, and I would love to wear it. I am a night owl anyway. But perhaps the nightingale is also meant with the bird of the night??? L`Oiseau de Nuit is indeed somewhat melancholic. Although I can't quite describe what this fluidity consists of.

Sorry Apicius, it had to happen sometime. I completely disagree with you this time;))

Gourmand for a Night
What I hardly dared to hope for: that one day the door to the world of gourmands would open for me. L'Oiseau de Nuit, the night owl, was the perfect key to that, a key that is more like a praline - made of dark chocolate with an Artemisia cream filling. Once sprayed on, it instantly becomes evening, the forest illuminated in reddish-brown by the spotlight of the setting sun, long shadows stretching into the darkness. It smells dry and herbaceous of blooming grasses, while a piece of chocolate with its 50% cocoa content melts on my tongue. Why exactly 50 percent? Because I also taste a hint of milk, a sweet melt, Bourbon vanilla. Once the praline has been savored, a dried-grassy leather note remains on the skin, faintly reminiscent of chocolate. The sillage, which has now shrunk to a civilized level, is still marked by the dark-warm praline tone, yet abstract enough to evoke a variety of associations in those around me. L'Oiseau de Nuit is more suited for the darker season, with its original scent accord having great recognizability. It is just enough, or rather just little, gourmand that it doesn’t become overwhelming for me, and aside from the massive sillage shortly after spraying, it is well controllable, fading over time and disappearing by dawn.

Resinous, slightly ethereal bittersweet chocolate, followed by sacred-mystical moments
The "Nachteule," the namesake of this French fragrance, indeed fits the rather dark texture of the scent.

This is not a fragrance for bright days and good moods; it has more to do with people who wander in the dark. More solitary figures than party animals, perhaps Hesse's Steppenwolves?

It starts with an abundance of benzoin, waxy, somewhat dull, numbing the nose.
Herbaceous, plant-like notes of mugwort mix in, slightly bitter-ethereal.

It doesn't smell really inviting yet; a transformation should come.

Indeed, the benzoin softens a bit, making way for a rather bitter chocolate note, easily 80% cocoa content. Again, the thematic darkness is present.

Initially a bit sour, not very pleasant, but after 10 minutes it becomes softer and more subtle.

The increasingly emerging labdanum contributes to this; it becomes a bit smokier, while remaining slightly sweet and somewhat resinous. Quite contemplative or even meditative. One wanders alone through dark alleys, lost in thought.

After half an hour, the fragrance gradually shifts from the brief chocolate excursion towards an oriental style, with labdanum teaming up with slightly spicier leather notes to create a soft-spicy, lightly sacred base aroma.

Quite pleasant to smell, somewhat festive in a sacred sense in its nature. The lonely one's walk into a scarcely attended midnight mass?

Overall, a decent fragrance that may have turned out a bit confused in its phase composition. Quite nice for the autumn in the base, tending to be somewhat more masculine in its fundamental tone.

I like it, I don't like it, I like it, I don't like it.........
The scent has something of unsweetened chocolate, it is somewhat sweet, but it doesn't smell like sweet chocolate. It has the same "undertone" as Felanilla, I don't know how to describe it better. When you sniff both, you immediately know they come from the same house. Somehow, the scent has something very fascinating. However, I'm unsure if I like it 100%. In any case, it is very interesting and smells somewhat "naughty".

For Night Owls
Yes, the name of this perfume is understandable. Nothing fresh, but rather a somewhat squeaky-fruity accord on a lot of dark chocolate. I find that very gourmand. The scent reminds me of a bar of this relatively new type of dark chocolate with bits of dried raspberry in it. Chocolate and then sour - well.

The reference to night owls is justified by the fact that it can be well used as a nighttime going-out scent. Because this perfume is very loud and can certainly hold its own at wild parties and in smoky pubs. You just have to like it.

With its chocolate note, the perfume is very similar to the much more refined Toubereuse Couture. However, the chocolate is not of the best quality and is unpleasantly present. On top of that, there’s the terrible carnival candy aroma - no thanks, keep that away from me!

I cannot relate to the fragrance notes listed above. Fortunately, the intensity fades quickly, especially the fruitiness disappears after an hour. Now it becomes at least bearable, only to then culminate in a hard-to-define woodiness in the drydown.

Surely there will be one or another sweet tooth that can't get enough of it.

Here, patchouli and benzoin take center stage, while the rest serves to round it out. Leather hardly comes into play for me. I like it.

Well done, but it doesn't quite suit me, as the combination of resin and a subtle leather note with patchouli feels animalistic to me.

Fruity amber, remarkably transparent. Sweet & soapy in a delightful balance. Delicate acidity. I think of copper, caramel & cognac.

Disgusting start with intense patchouli, rubber, gasoline... who knows (synthetic). But then it gets nice with a lot of benzoin. No chocolate!
