A Cool Minty Whiff at the Heart
Slowly, my impression of this Spanish perfume house is coming together, and I must say, what Mr. Monegal has created so far can easily hold its own internationally. So far, there hasn't been a perfume that I would classify as typically Spanish. Additionally, there hasn't been a true fragrance twin among the scents I've tested. A unique olfactory path has been taken here.

Mon Bois is less wood-heavy than I expected from this name. The opening is deliciously fruity, but it forgoes the obligatory freshness. In contrast to Florblanca, this top note holds up quite well for me and skillfully merges with the spicy heart note.

I keep trying to sniff out which component causes this sweet minty touch that develops in the heart note for me. MB gains an additional coolness from this.

The cool fragrance sequence then finds its calm in a very beautiful cedarwood note. Oud has been used extremely sparingly in this scent, as I only perceive a tiny hint of this otherwise prominent note.

I must say, it is a great pleasure to get to know this brand, and I am curious if a perfumery will emerge that will eventually offer this brand in our country.

No Fear of Oud!
The ninth Monegal fragrance - also from the "El Deseo" line, like "Black Suit," "Terre d’Orient," and "Umbra" - leans more towards a masculine scent for me. However, that doesn't mean it can't be worn by a woman.

The opening is pure freshly cut, ripe orange with spices - definitely saffron and cinnamon. Wonderful!

But this impression unfortunately fades very quickly, and I wish it would last longer. Because it is replaced by a rather woody, robust, but not bitter scent.
Oud is certainly noticeable, but it is very carefully and harmoniously dosed and well balanced with the cedarwood. Oud fans will find a really well-crafted fragrance here that is suitable for many occasions and in which a masculine woody note dominates.

El Deseo means the wish or desire, but it doesn't resonate with me. Except for Terre d’Orient, I can't connect with any of the fragrances in this line, although I find them all very well made.
