Leather Handbag in Perfume Form
I received this scent as a sample. Before the first test, I quickly looked at the fragrance pyramid. Mate, cardamom, and violet leaf: I’m curious. Leather, tobacco, and wood: hopefully, I won’t perceive you too strongly, as I’m still a bit at odds with you.
At first, I smell the spray head, not bad at all. Very fresh, but also a bit spicy.
When I first spray it on my skin, the cardamom and a bit of green come right at me - that must be the violet leaf. Not bad at all. The initial short euphoria is unfortunately quickly replaced by tobacco and leather. I hardly notice the mate, but that might also be because I haven’t had the chance to test many mate scents so far. After a few minutes, a bit of sharpness comes through, smelling almost like a mint candy; maybe that is indeed the mate. Tobacco and leather are so present for me that I feel like I’m unpacking a new leather handbag while standing right next to a tobacco factory, sucking on a mint candy. Fortunately, the woodiness takes a bit of the wind out of the tobacco’s sails.
Who is this appealing to? Unfortunately not me, but I can completely understand why it’s a unisex scent - I find it very hard to categorize. The potential customers seem to me to be older individuals. I imagine someone sitting in a rustic room, loving their old leather items, and having a special affinity for (chewing) tobacco.
Longevity and sillage are quite decent; the scent definitely lasts for several hours. I applied it in the afternoon and had to wash it off in the evening and replace it with one of my fragrances. Don’t get me wrong, the scent is by no means bad if you like leather and tobacco.
