Sweet grape bubblegum

I thought I would love Rochas Girl with its jasmine, neroli, orange blossom and sandalwood notes just calling my name. Unfortunately, I think it’s a bit too sweet and juvenile for my liking. It’s a grape bubblegum like scent that feels like it’s gotten stuck to the bottom of your shoe and just won’t come off no matter how much you try to scrape it. Could that be the black currant overpowering everything else here?

I think my younger teenage self would’ve enjoyed this but sadly, it’s just not for me. But don’t let my review stop you, it could be a lovely summer scent for you. I do appreciate that there are refill bottles available and they are very affordable. Rochas definitely deserve a few extra points for that.

Lemon Neroli Girl

Again, an overlooked scent that I didn't really like in the opening. I thought of mint lemon tea and for the first few seconds, it really has nothing to do with a girl... it leans more towards Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, unspectacularly conservative. Somehow, though, it picks up speed and becomes interesting. Cool floral notes, the citrus accompanies me through neroli and tart blackcurrant. However, it develops into a creamy powdery scent. Not too long ago, I had a Good Girl Blush dupe, and thankfully, this DD is without musk. Definitely worth a test. Not a girly scent!

The it Girl

In the past, there was a cozy pub in Bochum with a grandma vibe - the "Old Club."
People went there to see and be seen.
The entire youth scene gathered there - I was also part of the "young wild ones."
I wasn't wild - but I was young.

One evening, a stunningly beautiful woman approached me - great figure, long black hair, and unusual green eyes.
She handed me a red cigarette holder with the words: You still need this.
I was blown away by the nice gift - and by the velvety voice of the generous giver.
She whispered her name to me - Birgit - and sat down next to me as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Since then, we met every evening.

Birgit was an intern at our daily newspaper - and she always knew where something was "happening."
I gladly accompanied her to any events or private parties.

Her charming nature was well-received everywhere, and we were always welcomed.
If the term it girl had existed back then, it would have suited us - just like the girl from Rochas.

This fragrance is not loud - but confidently in a likable way.
It doesn’t push itself forward - but it is present.
The girl doesn’t want to linger in a quiet room - she wants to go out - and experience something.
The scent will effortlessly accompany you to a classical concert - but also to a pop concert.
It is cultivated - but in a modern way.

And it is not only suitable for it girls - but also for it ladies.

"How awesome is that?!"

.. says my best friend to me when I bring her a sample of Girl. "I think I'll get it after the vacation!"
We say our goodbyes, she’s off to her well-deserved vacation and I head back to work. Before that, we wanted to see each other briefly again, and I gave her a small sample of this fragrance along with a few borrowed books.

But let's start from the beginning:
The beautiful bottle immediately caught my eye in the perfume shop. Simple and unpretentious, without any edges or corners and in a lovely color - it stood out from the pink and nude uniformity on the shelf. Although those scents certainly have their advantages. I immediately associated it with my best friend.
A young woman, studying to be a sports teacher, with a correspondingly athletic figure. Blonde hair frames her face.. An uncomplicated woman, with whom you can steal horses, but first you have to get to know her better.

So it is with this scent as well. So I spray it on a test strip. I only find out the ingredients with the help of the fragrance pyramid, but that's nothing negative for me, especially since you should smell good and feel comfortable with a fragrance rather than immediately sniffing out every ingredient. For me personally, this is also a sign of a great interplay of the individual components, but that’s of course subjective.
I primarily smell something fresh, a light sweetness, combined with a pleasant warmth. I don’t notice the pink pepper - luckily, because it would rob this composition of its harmony.

Again, I think of my friend. An athletic woman, yes. But above all, one who is there when you have a bad day, who also has her soft sides, and for whose friendship I am so grateful, as she can give you a feeling of happiness and security even on the worst days when no one else can.
We are so alike and yet differ in many ways.
For me, the scent is already written off. No, if someone should have it, then it should be my friend. She is made for it - or is it made for her?

Today, I decide not to choose a fragrance, but I ask my favorite saleswoman if she can possibly give me a sample of Girl. She can. Perfect, so I’ll bring it to my friend.

And so we come back to the beginning of this story. My friend is thrilled and happy about the sample - and so am I. She waves to me one more time and then she’s already on her way to vacation. When she comes back, it will soon be autumn, making it even better to wear vanilla and sandalwood.
And if I ever have a bad day again, I’ll go to her, and maybe she’ll be wearing this scent then. I’m looking forward to that a little, strangely enough. Because bad days are not pleasant. But this scent will ensure that they become better, I’m sure of that.
