A real treasure
For my birthday, I decided to spoil myself. Like, really spoil. Probably, even some fragrance lovers like myself could call me crazy. I spent more than €200 on 7,5 ml Roja Amber Aoud Absolue Preciéux. Worth every cent, though.

Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful, mature, and refined scents ever. At least, from what I smelled, of course. I don't mean to overhype it, but I have to say that it is hard to think that such a great fragrance exists at all.

This is rose and oud perfume, with a juicy fig and the deepest, most sensual, and powerful amber. Wearing this perfume is a fragrant journey. Opens with a blast of citruses and then gets darker. One after another, layers unfold. Softly sweetened fig flirts with rose de Mai, and you can feel the spicy warmness of amber coming out and the reserved touch of aoud.

If you compare it to the EDP, the scent itself is very similar. However, the wearing experience is something else because it is in a very concentrated form. When spraying this one, it feels as if I am wrapping myself in some sort of luxurious cashmere. It is so soft and gentle, lends on the skin smoothly, and wearing this, feels almost like a royal ritual. And the performance – well, it is way stronger than the EDP. But it is not about the performance; it is about the feeling it gives.

Roja Parfums Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux Review: An Olfactory Overdose of Opulence
The acquisition of an unsprayed 7.5ml atomizer of Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux (Aoud AP) presents a classic collector's dilemma: is this a sacred display piece or an intense experience meant to be worn? The decision to test it reveals that Aoud AP truly lives up to its name, delivering an even richer, deeper, and more concentrated interpretation of the already iconic Amber Aoud.

Scent Analysis: Sweetness, Spirituality, and the Cool Twist

The Opening – Holy Sweetness: The initial spray is marked by a sudden rush of extreme, almost overwhelming sweetness (significantly amplified compared to the standard Amber Aoud). This intensity, combined with deep oriental resins and spice (Saffron, Cinnamon), immediately evokes associations with sacred shrines, mosques, and incense for those familiar with the cultural smells of the Orient. It is a luxurious spiritual sweetness, a profile often mirrored in potent creations like Aaron Terence Hughes’ Onyx Extreme.

The Creamy, Nostalgic Accord: The fragrance quickly settles into a distinctive creamy texture. It possesses a nostalgic quality, with some finding it reminiscent of a high-end, luxurious hand or face cream from decades past. This creamy-floral (Fig, Rose, Ylang-Ylang) note is crucial, acting as a rich, comforting buffer to the potent sweetness and Aoud.

Aoud, Chocolate & Honey: The heart features an Aoud note that is not aggressive but is instead enveloped in a deep, gourmand sweetness that suggests a combined accord of chocolate and honey. This scent is a masterclass in tension and balance, pushing the olfactory threshold for sweetness without crossing into cloying territory, thanks to the grounding Ambergris and the contrasting brightness.

The "Cool Cassis" Drydown – The Signature Surprise
The Drydown delivers a fascinating and unexpected development: beyond the warm, opulent Amber base, a sharp, cool freshness emerges in the later stages. This cooling effect is highly specific, vividly recalling the aromatic, lightly fruity menthol of an Airwaves Cool Cassis chewing gum.

This contrast—warm, sweet, resinous Aoud versus the fresh, cool, "cassis" edge—is what elevates the Aoud AP, preventing it from remaining purely a traditional "shrine-style" oriental and lending it a unique, addictive quality that compels one to smell it (but only briefly, to avoid the saturation effect).

Performance and Wearability
Sillage and Longevity: Performance is, as expected from an Absolue Precieux, immense. Sillage is powerful for the first 2-3 hours, and longevity is outstanding, particularly on clothing.

Wear Occasion: Due to its density and imposing character, Aoud AP is best reserved for closed, large environments (banquet halls, theaters, high-end restaurants) where its majestic sillage can project without overpowering.

Unisex Appeal: While the scent garners significant positive attention, particularly from women, its rich and creamy depth confirms its classification as a powerful and perfectly Unisex statement fragrance.

In Summary: Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux is the epitome of creamy, spiritual, and sweet opulence, punctuated by an unexpected cooling lift. It ultimately wears like a royal, sweet-fresh Aoud hit—the feeling of applying a deeply luxurious, subtly cooling hand cream before bed in the winter.

Comparison Amber Aoud Absolue Précieux - Crystal and the Dark Version
In this post, I would like to make a comparison of Amber Aoud Absolue Précieux (Extrait) - Amber Aoud Crystal (Parfum) - and the Amber Aoud dark version (Parfum).

One might often wonder what the difference is and which one to ultimately choose :-) At least, I felt that way at the beginning...

After some extensive research, many conversations with connoisseurs, and numerous tests, I would like to share one thing upfront and elaborate a bit:
The Crystal version is absolutely not inferior to the dark version in any way!
Both are parfum versions!
The Crystal version is neither weaker nor less long-lasting!
The Crystal version differs from the darker version solely in terms of color! The color pigments have been removed through elaborate processes - without affecting the scent!

The reason for creating a clear fragrance is - who can guess it.... indeed the stains on clothing!
Aoud is dark by nature - and the older and more mature the Aoud is, the darker and more intense it becomes.

Since Roja only uses the highest quality raw materials, the Aoud used in the fragrances is also quite dark and leaves stains on light clothing!

Aoud fragrances are highly valued in Arab countries, much more than in Europe. Both women and men wear Aoud. Since women in Arab countries predominantly wear black or dark clothing, the dark version of Amber Aoud is very popular and widely spread there.
Men mostly wear light or white clothing. Thus, the desire for the beautiful Amber Aoud - without leaving stains - reached Roja - leading to the development of a process to crystallize only the dark pigments from the dark luxury water - without compromising the quality of the fragrance! And tadaaaa --> This is Amber Aoud Crystal!

To truly convince myself of this theory, I, of course, conducted a 1:1 "practical" test :-))

On the left is the Crystal version and on the right is the dark version of Amber Aoud:
A small spritz of each is enough, and I am in seventh heaven..... *swoon*..... But now back to the test:

A sweet, slightly resinous Aoud note with strong amber tones sets the tone...

Delicate citrus sprinkles leave a subtle freshness... the lime is truly detectable, fantastic....
Soft flowers (mainly rose?) blend in, everything so finely tuned.... grandiose.....
Creamy sandalwood provides that fantastic woody softness that I love....
Spices follow... saffron complements the ever-present oud so incredibly well.... everything just fits....
Later on, an earthy-musty note flashes up... it must be patchouli and oak moss... The scent becomes increasingly complex and multifaceted, truly high perfumery...!

During the test, I repeatedly compared my left arm (Crystal) and my right arm (dark version) and I could not detect any difference whatsoever...!

So here is my confirmation: the Crystal and the Dark version of Amber Aoud really only differ in color, period.
Of course, everyone is free to express their opinion on this, and I am really curious if you see it the same way, dear fragrance friends :-)

Well then, the comparison with Amber Aoud Absolue Précieux follows.
I tested the Crystal (Parfum) version on my left arm and the Absolue Précieux (Extrait) on my right arm:

To avoid explaining the entire progression again, I will now only describe the difference from Absolue Précieux to the previously mentioned fragrance progression of the Parfum version :)

The Absolue Précieux starts with a more intense blast of Aoud, powerful and even more robust than the Parfum version.... The oud strikes me as not only worlds more intense but also somewhat more animalistic, stronger, and captivating.... the gentle "pig note" from the parfum, just stronger - not musty-stable, but just stronger (quite a bit stronger)....
The concentration of oils in the Absolue Précieux is said to be between 60-65%... According to a reliable source, it is the highest concentration that is still "sprayable"..... In the parfum, the concentration is already between 40-45% - so already quite substantial!

In terms of the scent itself, the progression of the Absolue Précieux is indeed very similar to that of the Parfum version.... Individual notes are simply a bit more pronounced..... The Aoud is incredibly beautiful, strong, but stunning.... it seems to caramelize over time, merging with amber... sweet.... animalistic.... powerful.....
I perceive the flowers in the Absolue Précieux as slightly less pronounced than in the Parfum version, but the resinous and earthy notes come out a bit more...

You can also see a difference on the arm... The parfum leaves a delicate film and then dissipates within about 15-20 minutes...
Absolue Précieux leaves a good and slightly oily film, which remains visible on the skin for a bit longer...

While the parfum spends a good 8 hours with me, Absolue Précieux has a much longer lasting presence...!
I can still perceive Absolue Précieux well the next morning - even though there was a good shower in between... Even if it is more intimate, you can still recognize Absolue Précieux very well.... That is truly grandiose!

I would give the parfum an overall rating of 9.5
Absolue Précieux gets a straight 10 from me - it must be love!

I hope that my post has helped those who have asked the same questions as I did and I look forward to other insights and opinions :-)

Fragrant greetings

Speechless through the night…
…please don’t be too critical, as this is my first review here and it shouldn’t be my last. But I am trying to review the ultimate variation of my signature scent; and believe me: it’s not easy.

What can I say - even the regular perfume is heaven for me. The sweet and fresh opening of the fragrance. Followed by the fruity and floral heart note that makes my heart race. And then the drydown, which invites me to dream again and again and accompanies me throughout the day.

To begin with: I have both the perfume, the Crystal Perfume, and the Absolue Précieux. For me, the perfume and the Crystal are absolutely on par, and the legendary "rubber note" that is supposed to be in the Crystal is something I do not perceive. Perhaps a year ago I would have been a complete Roja disciple who would have accepted anything, but even without my rojarote glasses, I still see no difference.

In stark contrast to the Absolue Précieux. For me, it was a (very expensive) blind buy that I have not regretted to this day. The powerful and intense fragrance explosion right upon application is indescribable. I simply lack the words in all the languages I speak. It is just wonderful. A delight for the senses. There’s no other way to describe it.
I am the type of perfume lover who often needs 10+x sprays for bliss, but here I have found my master.

Two sprays on the neck and you are ready for the day. And the evening. And whatever else may come.

This rosy, oudy, and floral masterpiece enchants me every time I get to wear it. And this has nothing to do with being over 50; it is simply a masterpiece that is unparalleled.

With every movement, you have this wonderful scent in your nose - and let’s be honest: we wear our fragrances only for ourselves, that’s clear; but a compliment - and you are sure to get one with this perfume - is of course good for every perfume lover’s soul.

So, for those who have the necessary pocket money, and who really want to ascend to heaven, you should at least test this fragrance, as it is, in my opinion, the best there is. Period.

A Masterpiece of Fragrance Art
Although I have been part of this wonderful community for a while, I have enjoyed the development of perfumes and fragrance enthusiasts from the background. After all, a friend had to give me a nudge to share my perfume experiences.

I wasn't exactly sure which perfume to start my commenting journey with. That I begin this journey with such a complex masterpiece as AAAP is a statement. And the fragrance itself is at least as much of a statement.

With this exceptionally well-composed scent, one makes a presence. The very strong sillage makes one immediately noticeable. However, this presence is not tainted by feelings of inferiority. This fragrance has nothing to prove. It is simply so majestic that one can only bow down.

The scent opens with a symphony of lightly citrus-spicy accord, accompanied by an Oud-Amber-Patchouli composition, along with floral components. Over time, the floral components emerge in the heart note. After about two hours, the spiciness subsides, and a slight sweetness from the sandalwood becomes noticeable, giving the fragrance a soft and very pleasant touch. Throughout all these phases, I always had a feeling of a very balanced composition, even though the fragrance notes were much stronger at the beginning.

I find a lot of joy in smelling it only in the drydown when the fragrance starts to become softer. It is precisely then that the extremely pleasant oriental-floral facet reveals itself to me.

A wonderfully majestic fragrance!

Better, richer, more natural version of Amber Aoud. Beautiful warm & slightly sweet blend of rose, amber, resin, cherry barrel woodiness
