Balance Gourmand

This is my favorite of the popular SDJ scents. It is very sweet but balanced with the addition of floral. The violet is not powdery but somehow conveys a subtle dryness that helps balance out the vanilla. It is a beautiful base, especially in the lotion version of the product, for more powdery violet, iris, or orris perfumes. This is a rare scent with some staying power that I can see remaining popular after the other trendy gourmands become passé.

Soft and calming

This is a more subtle, sophisticated scent. It’s a lightly floral, powdery, vanilla-y scent. Definitely smells like a soft sugar-coated violet, it’s not overly sweet though in my opinion. Very relaxing and calming. Much less overtly “summery” than most of the other SDJ body sprays - I think this will work any time of year.

candied sugar and creamy sandalwood

i'm surprised by how much i enjoyed this one. i usually am not a big fan of sweeter fragrances, but i think this strikes a good balance between sweet, creamy, and woody. it pretty much smells exactly how it's promised: sugar, vanilla, a subtle violet and sandalwood. the projection is fairly decent too. great to wear for a day out in any weather!

Guilty pleasure bed scent

This is such a guilty pleasure of mine. While the body cream for this smells like thick, vanilla buttercream frosting piled two inches thick atop a Victoria sponge, the body mist is more nuanced, with a minty pop of violets and anise giving way to a clean, lumber-style 'sandalwood'. It is quite sweet, in a gummy, fruit pastille kind of way, but the woody notes tone it down considerably. If you liked Nirvana Black and rue its discontinuation, then this is a creditable stand in.

It's a body mist, not a perfume, so not only do you have to be able to deal with a tacky plastic bottle but you have to be ok with any scent at all evaporating from your skin in two to three hours. I layer it with the body cream and spray it on my clothes and hair, but even that only buys you another hour. I have given up wearing this at work, therefore - I work 12-14 hour days sometimes and though no devotee of the longevity Gods in general, I do like to be able to smell myself for most of that time - and reserve it for bed or for my rare trips to the gym.

It is okay

I expected this to be better than it was, definitely was because of all the rave reviews making it out to be a super sweet/cupcake/vanilla icing etc fragrance. I don’t get anything like that at all. It is a “perfumey” scent, it smells like a perfume. It is very very light, powdery but in a floral way and woody with some sweetness. Not a horrible scent, just not this sweet vanilla everyone makes it out to be. The cream is also the same, if not more floral.
