Just another Tauer-ade
Struggling to pick apart differences between this and Au Coeur du Désert. I don't have № 02 - L'Air du Désert Marocain Eau de Toilette Intense on hand to compare it to, and it's been a long while since I've sniffed that one, but I know that it is in the same ballpark as Au Coeur. So Noir really isn't forging new ground.

I feel like the sugary airy opening that is common to a lot of Tauer fragrances is a bit amped up here, and the drydown is sweeter too. At least in Au Coeur du Désert there was some incense/woodiness when I stuck my nose where I sprayed; here there is no respite from the sweetness. It also feels a bit weaker than Au Coeur, though that might be a good thing considering the nuclear strength of these fragrances. Flowery notes? Leather? I get neither. Just some artificially-sweetened resins.

Nothing really stands out scent-wise or originality-wise for me, I don't really think there's a reason for this fragrance to exist other than for die-hard Tauer fans to be able to own multiple editions of Tauer-ade.

Leathery LDDM
A blast of herbs sandwiched between dry woods and fresh spices, with an ambery undertone. An evocative desert bazaar unmistakably like the original, where this differs is a more intense amber accord and strong animalic top note. That note has the woody and camphorous funk of oud at first but reveals itself as more of a dry, rough leather once the opening settles. Warm, dry, aromatic, leathery. Like Andy Tauer made an oopsie batch of LDDM splashed with Lonestar Memories. Strong projection for 3-4hr, longevity 16hr+.

More similar to the original than Au Coeur du Desert, which pushes the amber in a more balsamic syrupy sweet direction. This just smells like a leathery LDDM with the woods and amber ticked up half a notch. While neither of its older siblings are performance slouches, this is the longest-lasting of the trio.

LDDM Cosplaying as an 70’s Leather Chypre
As is the case with Au Couer du Desert, this is absolutely a worthy LDDM flanker. Both have a lot of the characteristics that tie them back to the original (the spices, the resins, the Tauer-Ade) but where Au Couer takes what is a airy amber structure in LDDM and to me solidifies it, LDDM Noir takes that structure and dresses it up as what struck me immediately as a leather Chypre. It is recognizably LDDM but to me dons a less amorphous more structured Chypre structure. This is so so so Tauers lane that I support any work he does in the LDDM space. The OG is so unique and recognizable that moderate tweaks create really interesting results.

La nuit de l'air du désert.
A LDDM, greener, darker, and more leathery, as if Air and Lonestar had been combined.

The citrus and green notes give the fragrance greater astringency—I think Andy wanted to use them to give it the nighttime freshness/cold sensation he claims in the description—and although the drydown becomes more amber and similar to the traditional Air—the Air notes are always detectable underneath—it ends up being a darker Air, as appropriately should be, given its name.

Longevity, projection, etc., like LDDM.

Very good fragrance.

Austere, mysterious and incredibly elegant
While the original L'Air du Désert Marocain represents the heat of a Maghreb sunset with warm spice and balsamic sweetness, the Noir version captures its shadow. Noir is designed to recreate the cold vastness of the silence of the desert at night, proposing the experience of a distant starry sky. Noir is an Elixir concentration (around 30%), denser and more tenacious than the original Eau de Toilette. Noir is the cold, starry twin of the original, with less spice market, and more midnight silence.

A more robust L'Air du Desert Marocain with leather and slightly more complexity. Indistinguishable from the original once it dries down.

Old good Marocain with flowery notes coming up through. Good job, Mr. Tauer!

Herbal blast sandwiched between dry woods + fresh spices, with an intense ambery undertone and strong roughout leather top. Leathery LDDM.

Accents of the original are even more vivid: more bergamot splash at the start, more dry depth (wood, smoke, amber) at the end. Incredibly beautiful.

On me, it's more of an Au Coeur du Désert Noir,
citrus-smoky-leather + loads of labdanum
on the well-known Tauer base. Successful!

Balsamic, sweet notes of earth collide with an overwhelming floral freshness. It just doesn’t fit! Piercing dissonance.
