In love with Cherry
I can’t get enough. It’s become my go-to spring/summer scent. Bright, MUCH sweeter than I’d usually go for, but I love it. Candy-like cherry, but also a bit of cherry blossom? And a zing of ginger. There is definitely a soapy element but that’s why I love it for the summer heat! I don’t really get the pepper and the sandalwood is very much in the background. It’s not the most complex, but it is a beautiful and unique fresh cherry in a world of cherry/almond/vanilla (which I also love, don’t get me wrong). Layers beautifully with Tobacco Vanille for a similar feel to Lost Cherry in the fall. Currently layering with Une Pistache for the summer, which accentuates that soapy/nutty undertone. Would love to try layering with a clean citrus. Reminds me of falling in love, it’s heady yet youthful. Doesn’t last all day, however.

Not what I expected - incredibly soapy!
I'm into cherry right now, and while I've found a lost cherry dupe that I love, I wanted to see what the buzz was about around Electric Cherry and so I purchased a sample.

I was not expecting such an expensive fragrance to basically smell like fake cherry on top of soapy dishwater. When a previous commenter says it smells like washing up liquid, they're not kidding; this is so evocative of dish soap. It doesn't smell expensive, it smells like something I might have purchased in a sampler set at TJMaxx for $7.99 -- it's like there needed to be something else to round out the cherry. It feels unfinished, rushed.

The soapiness lessened into the drydown, when the scent just became cherry, but I have to be honest, this was weak. I'm not even sure layering can save it due to the soapiness, maybe with a sweet floral to tone down the dishwater scent.

Smells like washing up liquid to me
I don’t smell any cherry in this at all. I was curious to try this after seeing some people state this was better than Lost Cherry, which I love. Well this has nothing on Lost Cherry whatsoever. My partner instantly said this smelt like washing up liquid, and I have to agree! It absolutely does. It’s soapy as hell. Just awful! It smells like it should be a Maison Margiela scent named “At The Car Wash” because that is this scent.

cherry laundry detergent, I want to wash my skin in this
To me, this smells like a cherry laundry detergent, and I love it. Fresh musk, cherry is not cloying at all, nicely sweet, ginger is so comforting, pink pepper gives it some spice that tickles my nose, subtle pistachio ice cream with creamy jasmine. I also find it to be slightly minty. Divine. But I wish the longevity and sillage were better for that high TF price, because I need this all day, every day, 24/7.

Floribama Shore
This is the name of a relatively popular reality TV show that has been produced by MTV since the late 2010s, serving as a successor to the legendary Jersey Shore at the time. While you could observe Italian-American individuals with a refreshingly simple mindset during their mating rituals there - the New Yorker commented back then, 'one could hardly resist the feeling of being an anthropologist, secretly observing a new indigenous tribe through a gap in the trees' - the spin-off moves the action to the US Gulf Coast, shortening the artful combination of the states Florida and Alabama to 'Floribama'.

The concept is identical. The very different broad Southern accent, compared to the Mid Atlantic idiom, adds a new component to the theme, yet the actions and rituals remain the same as those in the coastal strip known in the USA as the 'Redneck Riviera'. Plenty of alcohol meets zigzagging chicken crap meets large-scale, not always expertly executed tattoos - and there you have it. And even if the principle 'the self-perceived non-underclass observes the underclass and shouts: Hey, look - the trash!' can still withstand many repetitions, one gets the feeling here: 'Seen it before. Boring.'

Seen it before. Boring.

While I secretly acknowledged Tom Ford for his chutzpah with Lost Cherry, confidently placing a perfume with rather 'ordinary' attributes in the Private Blend league - because he can! - I do notice here: even the concept cannot be repeated indefinitely. Once was funny, once was cool. The second and third time, a cheap fragrance is simply just a cheap fragrance. And when, in the early 2010s, one was still reasonably entertained by the confidently displayed lack of refinement in the first Jersey Shore, the little sidekick "Southern Accent" is no longer enough ten years later.

Lost Cherry, which somehow balances between 'classy' and 'trashy', was no longer a risk as a fragrance. At the latest since Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire and its offshoots, the cherry accord, including all its more or less subtle connotations, has become indispensable in the perfume mainstream. Lost Cherry was thus already a freeloader, albeit a charming one, one that could be allowed for the Tom Ford brand. Another one is simply too much of a new emperor's dress, even for a die-hard disciple of his oeuvre like me, who fundamentally doesn't care about the so-called price-performance ratio in perfumes.

However, Electric Cherry as a fragrance is not even outrageously bad. Those who like light, frivolous girl scents might find it appealing: cherry and sugar and jasmine - sexy and cheeky, all clear? What is outrageous is that here - and one cannot really blame the merchant Tom Ford for this, as it worked with the blue summer scents - a second-rate idea is reproduced in a second-rate manner, which already required a considerable amount of goodwill to pass as somewhat 'classy' the first time around. Electric Cherry does not oscillate between trash and class. Electric Cherry simply smells - sorry - thin and cheap.

Conclusion: my first critique of a Tom Ford Private Blend. I'm really sorry, Tom. And I hope you are too.

Surprisingly cheap smelling for being so expensive. Fruit is tough to make adult and it's like they didn't even try. Lost Cherry is better

Soapy jasmine and musk with whiffs of bright cherry hinting through. But mostly musk.

Jasmine, musk, and bright sour cherry. On my skin, the ginger fades to something closer to wintergreen (?), which is a new one.

Sour cherry flavored bathroom cleaning supplies in the outer cloud. Red fabric softener close to skin. I have nothing kind to say about it.

This one's an odd one - the opening is this sharp sour cherry but also waxy type of note to it? Sorta like chapstick. May want to layer?

Cherry is only minimally present here. The scent quickly becomes very trivial with a generic shower gel-washing powder note. TF fades away.

After all the LC & mega hype,
this scent comes off as more than just forced.
It smells like diluted
cherry liqueur to me. Plus, it's outrageously expensive.

The zesty cherry feels almost bitter and sparkles like a grapefruit-cherry soda with a hint of ginger spice. Refreshing, summery.
