Tom Ford In the Old Way

So, what should I say. When you are as "crazy" or rather "obsessed" as I am, you sometimes think: "Oh, I'll make a blind purchase." After all, I could always sell the fragrance again if I don't like it. The mind tricks you with all sorts of reasons and makes you believe that this was a good decision and a worthwhile purchase. Perhaps this also explains the many 9 ratings here. :) - ultimately, as always - "Greed devours reason."

If I were to give this fragrance a 9, I would have to have quite a few 10s in my collection. But in my subjective perception, that is definitely not the case here.

Tom Ford in the old way stays true to itself here: What is successful gets reissued and sold at an extremely high price. But well, this time it’s successful, I would say.

The Soleil Neige in the perfume version starts with one of the most beautiful openings I have ever experienced - a wonderfully balanced mix of mandarin (a fresh and juicy mandarin), orange, and bergamot. Unfortunately, this dreamy opening fades after a few minutes, and the floral notes come into play. From this point on, the fragrance strongly resembles "Masculine Pluriel" or at least has some parallels to "Lavender Extrême." That’s also well done! As I evaluate for myself - I personally place great importance on a harmonious balance of the components, and here everything feels rounded and balanced. No note overshadows the other. (Just for the record, in case someone is reading along!)

In the drydown, unfortunately, some of the magic is lost, but it remains appealing.

However, in my opinion, the fragrance does not justify the high price - I would rather reach for MFK. Nevertheless, it is worth a test.

The sillage is okay, rather close to the skin up to about a meter. So, not a beast. The vanilla and amber are subtle but noticeable in the drydown and round off the fragrance pleasantly.

My conclusion: An expensive, typically Tom Ford inflated fragrance. The opening is great, no question about it, and overall the fragrance is successful. Still, it lacks that certain something to be truly spectacular.
