Tea Blossom
"A tea rose or tea blossom, also known as tea peony, is a small decorative bundle of selected (young) tea twigs, traditionally used in China for tea production during particularly festive occasions. In the Chinese mountain province of Fujian, the precious white silver needles of very young green tea buds are collected. Aromatized with delicate jasmine flowers, young and tender leaf buds are intricately and laboriously tied into unique tea roses, tea balls, or tea blossoms. The tea blossoms are placed in the teapot, where they can unfold their aroma and also fully showcase their shape and color. The history of the tea rose, tea blossom, or flower tea dates back to the Sung Dynasty, when Tsai Xiang (1049-1053) wrote in his tea book that the Imperial Tribute Tea was refined with spices. In a tea book from 1541, the flowers that were often used for flavoring were documented - rose blossom, jasmine blossom, osmanthus blossom, or orange blossom."
