Morning Has Broken
Beautiful! This scent is actually pretty amazing. The opening smells like a green, fresh spring morning right before the sun hits the garden. Then it blooms into a grove of fragrant lilac trees that are surrounded by delicate iris, freesia, narcissus and early spring roses. Heavenly! It reminds me of the song "Morning Has Broken".

"Sweet the rains new fall, sunlit from Heaven
Like the first dewfall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass."

white flowers
As far as I remember, this perfume was marketed by Yves Rocher with the theme "white flowers." A quite sweet, bright floral scent, where rose plays the leading role. In the dry down, it becomes powdery, with iris and musk making their presence known.

I actually got it because of the beautiful bottle (shame!), but it matched the colors so wonderfully in my bathroom.

Y.R. has always advertised that they only use natural or painstakingly nature-identical ingredients.
Here's a little anecdote for today:
I had wrapped myself completely in "Vie Privee," shower gel, body lotion, and EDT, the full program. Just as I was finishing up, a bee came racing through the tilted bathroom window right towards me. All excited and buzzing wildly, it circled around me. I tried to shake the creature off, I waved, I hopped, I jumped. It didn't help; it apparently thought I was the most beautiful bouquet of flowers in its short bee life. Finally, I fled the bathroom totally frazzled, slamming the door behind me.
In the end of this involuntary encounter, it was 1:0
- for Yves Rocher - the proof was provided, their ingredients are truly nature-identical.

The Scent of My First Love
Actually, I can't write an independent review of Vie privée; it was one of the scents that my first girlfriend wore. While I already had a clear inclination towards perfume appreciation back then (at that time, I was into Escada pour Homme) and placed a lot of value on my styling, she was a mix of tomboy and intellectual. She read a lot, wore a pair of horn-rimmed glasses, was a passionate sailor, her favorite subjects were math and physics, and she talked about herself 80% of the time. And she shopped at Yves Rocher, period.

The scent somewhat matched her type - with the floral note being dominant, somewhat cool (cyclamen) and not sweet at all, let alone girly, and it had a slightly animalistic, "wild" touch due to the musk. Of course, you can tell that it doesn't belong to the higher price categories - the scent comes across as somewhat "unrefined." Now the question is, what rating should I give it? I think a 60% won't offend her, as she simply had other strengths than hunting for the most exquisite fragrance in perfumeries!

my very private May holiday
Theodor Fontane refers to the day, especially the evening before Pentecost Sunday, as "Pentecost Holy Eve" in his well-known "Wanderungen" in the Oderbruch.
He uses it for a long walk, enjoying the open view over vast meadows and forests, still dressed in the various shades of green of early summer, occasionally interrupted by bright spots of chestnut candles and acacia flower clusters.
An early evening silence envelops everything, only interrupted by the "six o'clock chime" of the churches in the villages nestled in the greenery, prompting one to pause and listen: Listen to the vibrations of the just-awakening nature with its touching surprises for all the senses.

So intimate, so private does he describe this moment (which is still a bit distant) that it awakens in me the memory of a long-forgotten fragrance from Yves Rocher, which I did not appreciate at the time: I was wandering in other, more exciting fragrance realms.

Therefore, I am particularly glad to have the opportunity for a second chance and to have found another miniature among all its little fragrance siblings; the content has not changed.
This is a very delightful addition: Most of Yves Rocher's fragrances show great consistency, rarely changing over the years: They remain true to themselves!

Thus, "Vie Privée" presents me, after a short time settling on my skin, with a lovingly arranged bouquet of seasonal flowers under a fine, tastefully dosed veil of musk and sandalwood.
How beautifully the almost fragile beauty of orange blossoms and freesias harmonizes, two very graceful fragrance components, whose subtle beauty continues to bring me much joy.
These noble classics of many compositions also reveal themselves here in their not yet overly ripe but already fragrant bloom.
They have not yet awakened from their winter slumber, stretching towards the light and sun, opening their flower heads, and sending their scent full of delight over the rebirth of nature.
Radiant jasmine flowers, almost still innocent in their white-green garb and golden faces, exude cheerfulness together with ylang-ylang.
Not quite as noble as the ladies rose and iris, but they all make the heart swell with joy and allow one to rediscover all of this as if for the first time in life.
The already mentioned veil of musk and sandalwood accents adds depth and a slightly animal warmth that is still very welcome at such an early point in the yearly cycle.

How unpretentious and yet beautiful "Vie Privée" was created: As a charming everyday companion that underscores personality, light-footed yet so complete in its own grace.
I do not expect more in terms of sillage and longevity from an Eau de Toilette and am therefore not disappointed: Here, early summer lightness and cheerfulness dominate in the form of a lovingly arranged floral bouquet.

I consciously experienced the time of pompous, opulence-laden fragrance masterpieces in my younger years and let myself be carried away and seduced by them: They still enchant me today!
But from time to time, I prefer, having grown older and more fragile, the soft harmonious tones that I find in a part of the vast fragrance world that I never entered back then.

Therefore, today, on May 1st, there is a reason to celebrate spring and the upcoming summer with fragrance!
This time not with lily of the valley - but please do not forget: Today is "Lily of the Valley Day"! - but with the wonderful bouquet that was already presented to us years ago by the perfumers in the name of Yves Rocher and is still very welcome.

A Yves Rocher classic that definitely needs to be reissued!
I can only recommend it! Back in the 90s, I ordered it directly by mail from Mr. Rocher and gifted it to my wife. Then I forgot about it. But now - as an almost antique bargain - I snagged it on the bay and tested it today. Three sprays on my neck and I involuntarily stopped, as I was immediately surrounded by a massive cloud of fragrance that did not tolerate any further sprays.

And then, just two minutes later, this happened: My wife came flying in and wanted to know what fragrance it was. We had been about 7 meters apart before. I showed her the bottle, she remembered it, and soon she claimed the bottle for herself and took it to the guest bathroom, where she keeps the fragrances she sprays on before leaving the house.
Well, now the bottle belongs to her, but I will just have to swipe it from time to time.

The scent is floral fresh, green, very distinctive, with an extremely high recognition factor. It’s a rather feminine fragrance, but one that men can certainly use well for layering. Some heavy woody scent would complement it nicely.

Almost indolic white flowers with a not insignificant amount of musk in the base. Despite the green freshness, it's not a simple scent.

The older Rocher scents had something special. This one is very floral, creamy, and fresh, not too sweet.

How carelessly I used to treat YR fragrances, the miniatures were always given as gifts; today I miss this one a little, it was delicate.

Friendly, spring-like. Not too sweet, not too fresh. Creamy, floral, and really quite good. The 'old' YR were sometimes top-notch.

Here, there's a beautiful interplay of creamy Ylang Ylang and powdery Iris.
A really good, older YR scent.
