Only the Name Remained
Now I have the third fragrance called Chèvrefeuille and, as expected, it is also a scent that only resembles my old fragrance of the same name from the 70s in small ways. Fortunately, I still have an unopened bottle of the original scent that is more than half full. Of course, times have changed, and I have changed as well. I no longer wear many of the old fragrances. However, the original scent had such a strong presence without being intrusive that its successors have a tough time. I disposed of the second version of the name after a short time because, despite proper storage, it went off and smelled bad after a while.

But let's move on to the modern era. I tested it in the store some time ago and I liked it very much. However, I am slowly starting to suspect that the sample bottles contain a different concentration than the bottles that come by mail. The scent for me consists simply of honeysuckle and nothing more. It starts with that, continues with that, and disappears with that. A fragrance that is present and then becomes thin. It is fresh for me and a good scent for midsummer, as it makes you smell fresh and well-groomed. There are no other fragrance notes present. But since I have honeysuckle in my garden, I think this scent has only the name in common with the fragrance from nature and nothing else. I generally like fresh scents and Chèvrefeuille has always been a direction that appealed to me and still does. After about 15 minutes... wow... while the YR fragrances usually become thin within minutes... this scent disappeared into thin air. A faint hint still to sniff after an hour. But that was it. Suitable for midsummer, but please without high expectations. For the rest of the time, it is only conditionally suitable for me, as I find the scent too weak.

a good piece of advice
Blauemaus recommended to me in her response to my last honeysuckle comment to simply try the latest fragrance from Yves Rocher on this topic.
Unplanned, I found myself near my Yves Rocher shop today and, of course, had to immediately stick my curious nose (and the rest too) in there.
By now, it is known that I sometimes show up in the shop not only with prior notice but also like "Jack in the Box" and cause quite a stir!
So today, I had some spritzes of "Chèvrefeuille" (Eau Fraîche) applied directly to my sun-warmed skin. I took the risk, as I didn't want to be in close proximity to strangers either on the S-Bahn or later on my bench under a tree right by the Wannsee.
But this floral being cannot be misused as a deterrent.
Fortunately, it seems not to be a lure either!

Blauemaus writes that this fragrance is very close to the original from the seventies, which has a whole "fan community" mourning it here.
And it really is: however, a little nostalgia can still be part of it - the "Old" is still a tad more endearing in my memory.

Here, all foreign scent notes have been left out: this "Chèvrefeuille" is truly honeysuckle pure!
Sweet and heavy, creamy, almost a little soapy, with a hint of bitterness = wonderfully unspoiled!
And surprisingly long-lasting!
Before eleven o'clock, I had this rich sample sprayed on me, and even now, despite having washed/showered multiple times since, there is still a fine floral hint present - I am quietly amazed!
Hmm! How "delicately pampering"!

Earlier, I just received information from the Yves Rocher online shop that all fragrances from this new series are currently on sale. Blauemaus has obviously knocked on open doors here.
As it looks, I will bring home a bottle of this wonderful floral scent on my next shop visit; it simply makes sense.
Maybe this way, I can still manage to capture the charm of that time in a fragrant way.

Thank you, Ms. Maus!

The new version is soap-clean, radiantly fresh, and sweet. Unfortunately, it lacks the subtle magic of the old version quite a bit.

so much freshness, sparkling white laundry!
Who’s supposed to iron all of this?

Honeysuckle usually consists of a mix of flowers, so it can vary: here it's more robust, woody, not too narcotic: good!

The old DNA is still there, but at the base, the new version is a bit sweeter and softer. The longevity has been reduced to Cologne.

It smells soooo good like freshly washed laundry! Much softer/rounder than the one in this tall bottle, more like the very old version.

A walled park with honeysuckle vines in the middle of the city during the sweltering summer heat. Chypre coolness, herbal & sweet, freshly washed. Amazing!

I can only agree with Frau Maus: softer and more floral than anything that has come out in the meantime, and great for 30° (tested myself)!

Absolutely, it's still great YR, S&H a bit weak, but still the best in this line and a clear recommendation to buy!

Chypre, earthy, green, and sweet at the same time. A wonderfully straightforward, unembellished scent with character. And a touch of nostalgia!

I really love these "clean scents" in spring/summer. I hadn't known this one until now. It totally fits my style!
