Sensual, Carnal, Scandaleuse, Vertigineuse, and Criminelle
Michael Kors, So Nude Costume National, Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, Gucci Bloom, Elie Saab, CH Good Girl, and La Dame Blanche Le Cercle des Parfumeurs Createurs ... What do all these perfumes have in common? They are not clones of each other, obviously not, but they present a magical note that was unknown to me until I met Dior Hypnotic Poison. Yes, my love for tuberose is a recent thing, because that white flower is not so common in men's perfumes, Bvlgary Man in Black has it, but it is not dominant, indeed it is buried behind other spicier and woodier hints. Now I can detect tuberose at first sight. Wow, there are many female perfumes focused on tuberose. A lot. And Yves Rocher Plein Soleil is one of those, seriously. Undercut by notes of ylang-ylang and sandalwood, it’s simultaneously bright and sultry, floral and earthy-green, like burying your face in a freshly-cut spring bouquet. It’s pervasive and narcotic, but never cloying, a floral scent for people who typically dislike floral scents. Because I love tuberose my review is going to be slanted.

The fragrance opens with obscure and spicy notes of cardamom surrounded by the delicacy of citrus blossom, which is only too creamy. Then, as time past by, the scent did not dissipate of dry down to a more subdued, delectable blend of this unique combination.

Indeed, a floral heart of ylang-ylang and tuberose suddenly appears, enchanting for its elegance and sensuality. It is a carnal, creamy and fleshy floral note which can present mentholated facets, supported by the cardamom. It is sweet, creamy, rich, powerful, fruity, slightly animal. Yes, you get tuberose upfront. It's not loud, at least I don't think so, this is much softer and less of diva tuberose. You get tuberose petals, but not big heavy ones. They've dialed it down quite a bit. Certainly, its sheer as you can make it with still smelling it. It's not every day that you smell a woody tuberose fragrance. Plein Soleil is less focused on the white floral aspects, and more zoned into the creamy and sheer qualities of this popular flower.

A warm base of sandalwood gives depth to the scent. Up close and during the opening hour or so, this is all white florals, pushing Plein Soleil into the feminine for me. However, in the air and the deeper it goes into the drydown it's a very fresh, clean laundry musk with sweet woody notes that I don't mind wearing at all.

Longevity is above average, I can catch it on my hand and sleeve the day after. Projection is just okay throughout but quite persistent even after quite a few hours on my skin. The longevity surprised me. Suited for the middle seasons, more a daily than a nightly scent. It was love at first scent. I adored the intoxicatingly striking notes of intermingled flowered and spice. It is unique and beautiful.

Tropical holiday.
That scent is one of my faves in Yves Rocher brand. Really. Exactly. Also my fave in these bottles right now. We dont have Garden Party here yet. I have a bottle. I think not the best longevity and sillage but good feminine effect. Tuberose, ylang ylang, cardamom, sandalwood. These came together and did good job. Age? Suitable for a lot people. Terracotta Guerlain? Not similar. Eau de soleil blanc tom ford? No not similar there is no coconut, vanilla, bitter orange smell in Plein Soleil.

Not that impressionable...
Being in a rush this morning, I quickly sprayed on Plein Soleil. It's been on my to-try list for awhile and the sunny weather seemed very fitting.

On paper, Plein Soleil had a fresh citrus opening, but with a sweet subtle fig fruit note. Something unfamiliar gave the fragrance a depth that is quite nice.

On skin, the same citrus is at the opening, but the sweetness is much more prominent. Something about it is almost Amor Amor Cacharel-y, but not as pungent or as sweet. On that note, I find this fragrance reminding me of late teenage years and the fragrances I used to wear back then. That being including Amor Amor *flashbacks from high school appear*.
Plein Soleil is quite... Plain. A little too simple for me. And I must say that the notes stated are a complete surprise to me!
I would have never guessed cardamom or sandalwood. Those notes being so familiar and characteristic, it's quite unbelievable that they are there... However, tuberose, on me, is definitely the main note and I don't get much else after dry down. To my surprise, no citrus is in the composition at all, according to Fragrantica.
I hate to use the word, but Plein Soleil is very generic. An inoffensive fragrance that anyone can make as a blind buy and find an occasion for, if you like tuberose, that is. It reminds me of so many fast fashion brand fragrances (think early Zara and some H&M). Pleased to have tried it, but forgettable.

Calabrian Feelings
My mother-in-law's friend is Swiss, and she has created an idyllic holiday retreat in Calabria because it is too cold for her in Switzerland.
Now that's what I call initiative!

She is a hands-on older lady who hit right into my taste center with her charming holiday resort.

Crooked little houses, located right by the sea and in a lush garden.

As I fell asleep, the waves rocked me into peaceful dreams - mixed with the enchanting floral scents from the colorful garden.

In the morning, one stumbled out the door, directly onto the beach, which was always deserted, as Calabria seemed to me still not fully developed for tourism.

The few other guests - all Italians - dispersed in the generous expanse.

On the horizon, one could spot Sicily - always my favorite detour by ferry.

When one is to imagine their feel-good place in stressful times, the beautifully dreamy Centro Svizzero appears before my eyes.

And so relaxing is the scent Plein Solei - which for me does not take place in the "blazing" sun, but in the quiet garden, where I loved to linger in the shade of the lush flowering bushes - sometimes with a book, sometimes completely without any distraction.

Ylang and tuberose calmed my nose - brightened by white flowers.
Spicy aromas wafted over from Mama Lilly's herb garden.

And there, I could indeed doze off during the day.

This welcome tranquility is also conveyed by Plein Solei - dolce far niente in my shady little garden corner - under the Calabrian sun.

Intoxicating Floral Splendor of the South Seas
Plein Soleil is the first fragrance from the many new scents by Yves Rocher that were released around the same time in 2019.
While I don't find all of them to be that great, this one quickly won me over.
It is said to resemble Eau de Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford, but unfortunately, I can't judge that since I don't know that particular fragrance. Maybe it's better that way sometimes.
At least you don't have overly high or false expectations.

Plein Soleil is quite a floral powerhouse, lush and floral, perhaps a bit floriental as well.
The abundant tuberose immediately takes the lead. The sweet, lush blooms of ylang-ylang are also quite present. I've appreciated the scent of ylang-ylang since the nineties.
Additionally, there's sandalwood, which adds even more warmth.
The fragrance is very floral, warm, lush, and has the woody softness of sandalwood.
It would have fit perfectly in the nineties when fragrances like Samsara or Mahora were in vogue. I still like that kind of scent.

The sillage is quite noticeable, so it's advisable to apply it sparingly. The longevity is also quite good.
The bottle is simple and cylindrical with a plain adhesive label-like the entire line. The bottles from Yves Rocher used to be more beautiful! But uniformity in bottles seems to be in fashion right now. Personally, I prefer individual bottles. I don't think it's great that only 30 or 100ml bottles are offered. A 50ml bottle as a middle option would have been wonderful.
But regardless, the fragrance Plein Soleil is certainly well done and I like it very much.

Floral, creamy, and quite sweet. Rather subtle projection, medium longevity, reminds me of sweet sunscreen. Fine for the price.

Caribbean in turquoise kitsch, coconut fluff hangs in the palms. White noise. Steel drums or tinnitus? Alarm ringing. Sweetest dawn gray.

The lightly spicy tuberose is totally fine for the price and just shy of a higher rating, but the base is a bit too generic.

a brief opening of dreamy sunscreen is replaced by cloyingly sweet tuberose-ylang ylang overkill. Plein Soleil=sunstroke risk
