Earthy with mushrooms and cumin
Overall Sloth is pretty good. What I found interesting is the way it evolved as it dried down and beyond, although there weren't any sudden sharp turns. It does open kinda sharp and green. Then different notes would appear in the foreground for a while and then retreat a bit. Initially the chamomile and what I presume is the acai. Then in no particular order, cumin, jasmine, hay and mushrooms. Perhaps others as well, but my nose isn't that experienced.

Once it settled down (over an hour), it had an earthy/damp soil sorta smell, definitely got mushrooms. There was also another component that seemed to oscillate between fruity and floral. Nose to skin, there was a definite cumin accord but didn't detect that in the air. I really liked it, but if you have a problem with cumin, be careful. Because of the earthy damp smell, mushrooms and cumin, Sloth strikes me more masculine. Longevity was good. Was still going strong after 9 hours but projection and sillage were moderate.

In summary, for me, it's an OK. It didn't really wow. I was expecting fumes that were more powerful and with a more commanding presence, especially since it's Zoologist and a Lomros creation.

Very slothy
Weird…so so weird…but so so charming. This is such a fun take on a Sloth as inspiration and I feel it nails it. It’s distinctly funky in a wet animals fur in a humid jungle sort of way. The mushroom is vividly noticeable as well, that bouncy earthiness springing up in the opening, along with dry hays, herbal chamomile, and a very tart acai berry. The beeswax here pulls animalic, pissy even, but somehow you keep coming back to smell more even with all the funk present. I get virtually no sweetness despite the tonka and vanilla, but I think it would take away from the composition if I did. This dries down to a humid mushroom and oakmoss scent, with remnants of dry hays and waxy animalics.

A nap in a teacup under chamomile clouds
Sloth instantly reminds me of a soothing herbal sleepy tea. Chamomile, lavender, and a touch of anise. To me, it’s a smooth, gentle bedtime scent. The profile fits its name perfectly: soft, slow, and peaceful. Nothing sharp here, everything is mellow, lightly sweet, and calming.

I don’t get much jungle or green notes; instead, it smells dry and almost dusty to me, like a handful of cut tea leaves from a teabag. The warm hay and chamomile are what stand out most for me and when it dries down it's like the creaminess from the vanilla adds a splash of milk to the tea.

It’s not a scent with lots of twists and turns. The sloth just stays happily curled up in its tree, not doing much, just vibing in a cozy little bubble. For me Sloth is too similar to The smell of the weather turning by Lush (which I already own a full bottle of) to commit to a full bottle of it, but it’s beautifully done and lovely to wear for winding down and relaxing.

Synthetic
Piss note is insane when it's still wet on your skin. Reminds me of my grandma's cat infested basement. But then hay evens it out really quickly. You get moss pretty soon too - and I think it stays for the majority of the fragrance. Definitely develops slow and steady throughout the day. For some terrible reason it reminds me of a zurchers, party city, or thrift store. This weird nostalgic and musty tone. Spices kick in a little later and it starts to add this 'smokey' appeal to the hay/musk.

Unlike a lot of the reviews here I don't feel like I'm in a dense damp forest. Feels incredibly synthetic compared to a rainforest. Mulch? might be the best word to umbrella term the whole scent. Like you're walking through Home Depot's outdoor plant section. I'm for sure impressed by it but definitely not something I see myself wearing. Buy a sample if you get the chance.

That drydown though.
There's something Christmas-y about Sloth. it's the combination of wood and spices that bring out a "cake with honeyed tea by the Christmas tree" association for me. Or like pine trees and mulled wine.

I don't think I can pull it off but I greatly appreciate what it is and I think if you can rock this, you'll love it. It's sweet but not overly. It's comforting and approachable as well. If you've tried King Cobra by Zoologist, they are similar in that they both have a similar onslaught of spice. Also by the same perfumer, Prin Lomros.

I will say I like the drydown much more than the first hour or so. This is my favourite Prin creation for the house though: he's done Bat 2020, Rhino 2020, King Cobra, and Sloth. They all share his boldness but this one stands apart from the others as being slightly more gentle.

I will say, I don't know how this was marketed but I feel like this might actually be a fougère? Initially it is aggressively spicy but it dries down very green, somewhat sweet, and creamy. Honestly it's one of my favourite drydowns from the house.

Masculine leaning, multifaceted. Earthy, rough, leathery and lightly animalic, but there's also aromatic tea and oakmoss. Great neo-fougere.

Slot is rotten fruits and damp earth drifting through moss, chamomile and mushrooms. A warm jungle filled with herbal and spicy scents.

A rather heavy, yet slowly shifting Mid season fragrance (from fruity/floral to spicy/floral), on a very complex, yet soft green-earthy base

Spiced chamomile tea. Overripe fruit. Earthy myrrh and frankinsence. It's a funky/cozy/warm cup of tea in the autumn. Absolutely beautiful.

Almost mentholated honeyed lavender damp forest dirt. Slightly animalic incense vanilla fungi. All rather wearable and fougere-esque cozy.

Earthy lavender beeswax. I'm getting a menthol (oakmoss?) vibe. But let this testify to how complex of a fragrance this is. #sophistication
