This is simply stunning. Light, Airy and wonderful. Dragonfly does portray their environment and their world. It opens with light watery musk, fresh air in a garden filled with flowers after a shower. As the fragrance develops it becomes more powdery with and earthy blend of Musk, Rice, Papyrus and hints of Sandalwood. This is simply a gorgeous fragrance. Art in a bottle. The Perfumer really did capture the life cycle and the environment of a Dragonfly wonderfully.

Referencing a show that no one will remember in a few years

Dragonfly from Zoologist is a scent that apparently I’ve been sampling for so long I’m left with only fumes. But I'm not sure that I need a full bottle. I don’t own many scents like this…which is not to say it’s incredibly unique, because I’m not sure that’s the case. It’s a sort of gentle, watery floral musk with cherry blossom and peony and sweet, powdery heliotrope. While it’s nice, it’s quite pretty even, I’d definitely put it in the aquatic category… and I don’t love aquatics. Even one as wearable as this. I guess that’s what I mean when I say that I don’t have many like it. I’m sure there are lots of things that smell similar, I just couldn’t tell you what they are because I don’t wear or typically even sample them! I’ve read that dragonflies thrive in fresh, clean water and I think there is something of that purity that comes across in this scent. Purity is such a fraught term and so I hesitate to even use it, but that is the first word that comes to mind, and honestly, now that I have said that, you know who I can imagine wearing this scent? The brave and ridiculously sweet Laura Lee from Yellowjackets. This scent is perfect for this character.

Airy floral green

The lightest scent I’ve tried yet from the house. Very ephemeral and sparkly opening, and gets greener and sweeter as it dries. I get a touch of pond water with green algae to offset all the pretty florals, making it slightly more interesting, though still feminine. Fine, but unremarkable to my nose.

tl;dr good but not enough for a full bottle

im gonna preface this by saying that i have a hard time telling exactly what im smelling sometimes, and also i dont know what to expect from specific notes (like i could not tell you if i smell heliotrope or not bc idfk what heliotrope smells like). ALSO i did get a decant tester from luckyscent for this, as opposed to an official tester.

wet on skin - EXTREMELY wet very powdery florals. but more powdery in the sense that it has that spicy zing in your nose. feels very full in your lungs. the smell is very wet garden, not in a wet soil way but in a "flowers are exploding with pollen and the pollen is sticking to every wet surface" way.
drying - not much changed! i asked my partner their thoughts and they said it smells very "sporty". to me it smells like a "mature woman", florals that i feel you have to acquire a taste for. i think you could wear this to the gym or a fancy museum or just to work.
dry - i am starting to smell the amber i think. and aldehydes?? definitely some sandalwood, but i can still smell some sort of purple floral in there.

i don't really get any rice out of this at all, and that's not a note im typically blind to. i get more of that musk and amber on the dry down, i would say if there is a rice note in here it's more like a rice powder to compliment the florals. i wanna say this perfume is "well blended" tho im a. not a perfume expert and b. fucking awful at explaining how things smell. i only have a small tester but i applied a (fairly) liberal amount to my wrists and the sillage feels very personal. longevity was poor for me, it only lasted a few hours to the point where i have to really huff my own wrist in order to smell it at all.

Spring in a bottle

Dragonfly has a nice mix of floral, aquatic and green. To me it smells less sweet and powdery than I was expecting and a lot more grassy green instead - which I like. Watery, airy and lush. I feel like this could have been called Firefly as well, as it smells outdoorsy and like playing outside while the sun sets. The rice note provides a pleasant softness and the projection is surprisingly good for a delicate little dragonfly. I think it works well on sunny Spring days as well as during April showers.

Unfortunately my nose picks up something harsh/synthetic (like hairspray) in the dry down that prevents everything from coming together the way I would like to, but I still enjoy this fragrance.
