THE Zoo(logist) signature
I love koalas! After the pandas, these are by far my favourite bears and also generally among the animals high up in my sympathy charts. Can I do just as much with the accompanying scent of zoologist? Oh yes!

"Koala" hits the theme perfectly, has (however/luckily?) zero animalistic undertones, is a breath between toothpaste, leafy leaves and relaxing tea. A vetiver dream with creamy eucalyptus vibes. An incredibly wearable and "simple" fragrance - and in the best sense of the word. Easy to wear, easy to like, easy to identify. What Spyros Drosopoulos has conjured up here is not an experiment, but a complete success. At least for my taste. But I think I'm the first one here to discover these "favourite scent spheres" - so watch out, it might also look a bit too tame and underchallenging. Especially if you've already had some of the other animals in this zoo under your nose. "Koala" on the other hand is full of understatement and elegance. A scent for every office, every day, every occasion, every weather. Almost any kind of person. Fluffy, bulbous, minty. A relaxed salesman you can buy anything from.

Flacon: can I actually leave out by now, or?
Sillage: discreet... especially for a zoologist
Durability: one of the shorter cuttings of the brand - 6-7 hours

Conclusion: for some boring and generic - for me the most portable, accessible and signature-worthy zoologist I have been allowed to test so far. "Koala" is a jackpot, a cuddly green eucalyptus tea with addictive potential. Only the last third can not quite maintain the excellent level. Otherwise: unconditionally worth buying!

Go to where the koala bear grows
Shock, shock, heart in my pants, oh no, oh no: I ordered the complete Zoologist Sample Set instead of single samples, because that was the only option where you could get the koala sample. And now it's not even there or what?! Oh yes, there it is. Oops. And of course there is a handwritten greeting again
I am quite sure that koala does not contain any pepper at all, but I smell it anyway in the very first moment. It's the frankincense. It makes the smell hot for my nose. The essential oils of mint and eucalyptus with the flowery background are beautiful. Small side note: Here in the pyramid there is honey and menthol, but on the inside of the sample letter it says "Menthol Honey Gumdrop".

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for mint notes in perfumes to create a detergent association in my case. When I smell concentrated on my wrist, I recognize the individual ingredients, but the scent blows into my nose as a cloud, I think of friends who have detergent as a family scent - which is certainly simply due to the detergent.

Let's come back to incense again: It is clearly too clear for me here. Eucalyptus mint flower alone would have been nice Now it is my bad luck that I simply do not like incense at all and only tolerate it in tiny doses. Nevertheless I would have liked to have a green-etheric one under a koala scent, which at the same time radiates the lightness of life: Hanging around and munching eucalyptus, mating maybe every 2 to 3 years, but only when the female calls*, otherwise no obligations.

What a day in the life of a real koala bear is like
*To determine the time of mating is a female thing with the koalas. At the earliest when the offspring of the previous year is independent, but often only every two to three years. (planet-wissen.de)

A cuddly greenling in the eucalyptus sea
Already at the time of its announcement I was extremely enthusiastic and curious about this extraordinary fragrance. Sure, it comes from Zoologist, what else should it be, if not extraordinary?

He then flew in specially from Canada. Otherwise I cannot explain to myself that he was already with me two days after order. That was in June, when almost everything else remained on the ground anyway. In the package there are also a few trial sizes and a handwritten note including the name of the person Yes, that's how customer loyalty works.

Sprayed on, caught a train, fell in love.

Everything just right and from nothing too much.
Just right fresh, but not typical deodorant.
Just right eucalyptus without being medical.
Just right sweet and woody without being boring.
Just the right amount of dressing to become undressed.
At the same time just right erotic, without screaming red light.
Yet absolutely suitable for everyday use without being offensive.
Exactly the feel-good location, without taking up entire rooms at once.
Hello, ultimate all-rounder for warm days and evenings.

I had already grown very fond of the koala and as THE summer scent of 2020 for me, a date came with a very negative outcome. And we all know how it is with scents and memory...

But today I felt like seeing him again. And I was surprised to find out that my koala had somehow had no heart note before. I didn't notice that, because all the ingredients were there. Only in the intensity I didn't know until then, what was suddenly there now.
So I knew the opening and closing very well and he is what I had been looking for for almost seven years. I only knew the interlude intimately.
I practically only knew the moment when the koala itself was no longer hanging in the trees but only the warm wind of the Australian summer let a very pleasant and calming breeze glide around my scantily dressed body.

But this morning the koala jumped into my arms as well. It brings the full portion of spices and incense with it, apparently still has leaves in its mouth and at the same time it likes to hold on to something.
I don't know if the intensity of the heart note has changed with the ambient temperature... In any case, this composition changes everything that is known almost completely for a few hours. Something flowery appears quite timidly, the eucalyptus is more resinous at the beginning, not balsamic as later. The incense is almost pungent in combination with the spices, not as later warming enveloping. And the tea, like the rose geranium and vetiver, is simply more intense.

I almost have the feeling that I am too incapable of reading scent pyramids or even smelling them.
I don't know. Now I will definitely get to know my koala bear again.

Oh, yeah. Durability in spite of the silage from an arm length at the beginning to a good body proximity later on, but still a good eight hours.
A scent that is hard to get and can be placed in the more complex ranks of zoologists

Outback trip
Not only is the koala probably one of the cutest animals of all, but the scent pyramid of the new Zoologist creation made me sit up and take notice.
It is even said that your own hands smell of eucalyptus when you scratch the fluffy fur of one of these cute little animals.

So far so good
Arriving in the koala habitat the journey starts with eucalyptus and menthol in the prelude, underlaid with a strange, somewhat acidic note. Unfortunately I miss the honey here. I think this would have made the top note much better After looking around among the eucalyptus trees and seeing one or two of the little bears in the treetops, we are now enjoying the full force of a peppery note of incense.
While the pepper slowly fades away, a slight hint of rosebush is noticeable at the edge of the habitat.
To continue watching the animals in a relaxed atmosphere we sit down under the trees and unpack the black tea we brought with us. Unfortunately the aroma is hardly noticeable due to the clouds of the dominant incense.
Apparently the tart, masculine-looking incense also has a somewhat deterrent effect on the koalas. None of the animals want to approach us, although it was promised that these are particularly tame specimens that like to be close to humans.
Finally the animals say goodbye completely and we remain a little disappointed between the clouds of smoke.

a Chuck Tingle eucalyptus
Koala from Zoologist is an aromatic-green-soapy incense-balsamic black tea-geranium sandalwood cologne with eucalyptus and pine. It’s dapper somehow, but the ironic dapper of a 25-year-old in 2013 with a handlebar mustache and a pork pie hat. It’s the refreshing, relaxing scent of a spa, but these dapper, ironic hipsters run the entire spa. And I don’t even know if I want to call it irony or absurdity or even farcical, but after a while, it doubles back on itself, and it’s almost painfully earnest, it’s got a genuine “love is real and I was pounded in the butt by my sentient spa experience” Chuck Tingle title vibe. I don’t know what that means. I’m all over the place for what is probably a very approachable and wearable perfume. That’s kind of wild, that I have no problem describing the weirdies, but the normies are the ones that give me pause. Anyway, I think this is both a sincere and sardonic eucalyptus scent. That’s my final word on it.

Minty green tea with a drop of honey - elegant, classy, smooth. Poor performance, otherwise this would've been an instant buy.

After a pronounced spicy/smoky green opening, this fresh, yet dusty earthy-spicy Fougère, settles to a gentle earthy-woody base. Masculine.
