Honeydew on a sea of flowers in the green valley of the spring fairies
Tinkerbell has a new favorite scent: Hummingbird! Created by my favorite fragrance artist Shelley Waddington, who otherwise produces the fabulous, fairytale-like EnVoyage fragrances, this dream of a flower perfume is one of the most commercial from the zoologist series of Victor Wong.
I love it!
At first, a delicate, but only slightly sweet breath rose to my nose, underlined by green, fresh-flowered notes. This develops in the further course of the fragrance in a creamier, green direction, in order to become increasingly flowery-velvetwoody. I can see/smell similarities with Jardins de Bagatelle, the only green Guerlain fragrance I've ever used for a long time, but JdB is less pleasing-cuddly. This makes Hummingbird superior to it.
The delicate nectar and the millions of flowerbuds form a cloud of bliss, which accompanies and inspires me for a long time.
A veritable poem! Very wearable and durable. A mainstreamer among the Zoologist creations, which nevertheless stands out positively from the mass of the flowery fragrances by its delicacy.

Amazing fragrance, but not the most wearable (for me)
Wow, what a fragrance (and bottle!). I haven’t smelled many of the other Zoologist fragrances, but I’ve read countless reviews and seen the notes on the others, but I can make an educated guess and say that Hummingbird is one of the more “safe” options this house has to offer. It’s a complex, SWEET, floral fragrance with lots of fruitiness and honey (the natural, pollen-y type). The opening is a bit polarizing, but it does dry down to a beautiful sweet bouquet with some added woodiness and creaminess. It’s a stunner but in general, it’s not an easy scent and I disagree with the sentiment that this could be a “dumb reach” for someone (especially someone who is newer to niche scents and the artistry of Zoologist.)

To me, this is a daytime + outdoor fragrance and/or a fragrance that needs a lot of room to spread out in order to be fully appreciated. It’s magical in the spring / summer, especially with some wind and sun. It’s not one to overspray as it’s a very potent scent. It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea and will smell better or worse on others. I think smells okay on my skin, and it’s not my first choice when I want to wear something fruity and floral (based on what I have in my collection already).

As much as I think this scent is amazing, a full bottle would totally be neglected if I were to keep one, so I’m saving 10 ml for myself to have and treasure, and sell the rest to a more worthy wearer / owner. Definitely one to test ON SKIN first.

Sweet fruity floral
Very youthful and pretty, almost saccharine in nature. The fruit is the standout here—I get mostly apple and cherry—followed by fine florals like honeysuckle, rose, and ylang. Gets smoother, soapier, and creamier as it dries down. My wife, typically a floral fan, thought it was a tad too sweet and juvenile for her. Pretty in pink, but not quite our style. Regardless, a very wearable and mass-appealing fragrance.

a lush garden with a dollop of cream
this was such a crazy experience to smell bc wow is this a GARDEN of flowers!!! I’m not a huge lover of florals so this isn’t my favorite but I can appreciate artistry when it’s done it’s due diligence and this is beautiful! this opens with fresh fruits, you get the apple, you get the plum, etc they’re very transparent here individually, but they create a nice, smooth, fruity medley. The florals are so fresh and airy and natural here, and you can pick up every single one it’s so interesting. It really makes your nose confused but in a good way! The honey and whip cream make these florals almost edible, smoothly sweet on the nose and creamy. The woods and the oakmoss add a baseline here, the soil in which this garden lays. This is literally a hummingbird flying through acres of fresh flowers surrounded but fruit trees and fresh soil.

Pleasantly Surprised by Hummingbird
When I got this sample in the mail, I took one sniff and immediately popped the lid back on in revulsion. It was so sickeningly sweet to my nose. Notes of honey and nectar were all I could detect and I could not imagine anyone actually wanting to wear this. Surely, this will attract bees, I thought! I stuck my sample in a small cosmetic drawer and avoided opening it again.

Several months later and I am organizing my vanity. I found this sample again and decided at the very least I should put it on my skin sand give a proper review before tossing it in the trash. I'm so glad that I did!

I was expecting to have to scrub this off immediately but, to my surprise, the overpowering sweetness dries down very quickly. After it dries a bit, you are left with a stunning fruity-floral bouquet.

This fragrance is so complex and well-blended. It is sweet and fruity but does not smell synthetic to my nose at all. It also manages to smell a bit clean and shampoo-like without being overly soapy or powdery at all.

I was expecting this to be overpowering in terms of sillage but I actually think this is quite reasonable. You could get away with wearing this to the office every day without giving headaches to those around you. I will say, this fragrance is extremely feminine and reads a bit "young" to me (speaking as a woman in her 30s). I think this would be a good perfume for a college aged woman.

Now that I have given it a proper test, I see why this one came with so many rave reviews. It is very special. Fun and unique!

I get why people say it's too much. It is *so* sweet and sappy and honey-like. It's spring turning into summer, it smells like youth, moving

Strong honeysuckle with fruity notes in the background. I get a lot of cherry and plum from this. You have to like sweet to like this.

To quote Hozier, “You’re too sweet for me.”

Seriously, though, it’s so strong it’s offensive and headache-inducing.

Every single fruit and every single flower with the volume turned up to 11. Pretty, but very potent.

There is so much going on here, it's a honeyed fruity floral bomb. The lilac sticks out most to me. It's very pretty and has good longevity.

This is honeysuckle with many supporting characters. I keep thinking of white cherries with sweet cream and sugared flowers. Very strong!

This is something very classic/old fashioned about this. Floral & powdery. If there's any fruit it's the tree in flower before it fruits

A sweet, creamy cherry amber with hints of florals. It's perfectly pleasant, but just not mind-blowing for me.
