This is what spicy oud shoud be!!
Spice and oud has went together for a long long time, dating back to the old arabic times when oud was mixed with local spices and resins, this is what i imagine a clash of two worlds would be. Oud has been everywhere from the middle east to china, and this is the clash between those two, the culture, the feeling, the spice and herbs, and most importantly, the scents. Now in the base this is one of ensars two main notes, oud or sandalwood, this is the oud all the way (hence the name?) It shows what Mr Ensar was thinking when someone named fruity and spicy oud together. I wore this for two days, on the first day people complained about the harshness in the morning, later that day someone asked if i had switched scents? The next day people didnt complain, and this shows what ensar can create, a scent that changes and you learn over time.
So what about this scent, lets break it down. It opens up strong, blasts of oud and woody notes, having that very resinous oudy feeling that often comes from ensar. Its strong but not fecal or weird, its smooth and beautiful, and did i say resinous? More than that? Spice. Spice from two parts of the world, China and the middle east. The black pepper and resins from the Arab world flows in and mixes with tea from China, mixing together into a smooth blend of herbs and spices, one reminicent of many differnt teas, teas that have everyting from pepper and resins mixed into the blend but never the less doesnt disappoint.
Now what is to tell about the heart of this scent? When it dries down it shows a nice floral face. Rose and white florals mixing with the tea and spice to show its more pleasent face. Its never the less still woody, but it shows another face, one that isnt so raw and dark, a nice and bright face of florals and spice. Its not only floral but also fruity as i stated, the notes say grape and pear, but the grape isnt anywhere to smell, but i do get a nice pear, not the normal fruity synethic pear, but a greener and lighter one, yet again apealing the the light nature of this scents heart. But what it goes for its a spot of light in the dark, but its now close to the bottom of the scent.
Now we are at the base, the musky oudy base of this, ensar has a tend to dry down musky, and this isnt an execption. Its darker from what we just saw, its rawer, its more sensual then ever. It shows musky faces, drawing its attention to what the scent used to be, the florals are gone, the spicy tea is there, the oud is there, and it blends beautfully.
Now what do i imagine with this scent? What do i picture? I see a cup of tea, the cup being made of agarwood, the tea being blended with spices, flowers in the background, everything coming together warm, a nice composition.
Overall a very nice scent, smooth and warm, i love it!
