Deer musk flavoured tea
Who will be the main character? Mongolian Deer Musk, of course.
Sitting under a tree on an early autumn day, a deer is quenching its thirst with a delicious drink.
A fermented black tea (puerh), sweetened slightly by honey and spiced with cinnamon.
Dense, rich, very full-bodied.
Some earthy, chocolaty undertones are perceptible during the lifetime of the perfume and the deer musk also provides a marked "sweaty" aurea.
The drydown is full of musk and woody oud.
It is very inviting, provocative and sensual.
It demands attention with its aroma that expands in the air but is not at all annoying.

Bottle number 14.

Earthy musky spicy goodness
(Review for the new, slightly reformulated version with SQ attar)

The fragrance opens with a rich, chocolatey burst of cinnamon and carob.
(Carob is a sweet and earthy fruit resembling cocoa beans, which is sometimes used as a sweetener or cacao alternative in Mediterranean and Balkan cuisine. It was one of my grandmother's favorite baking spices.)
As the initial spicy and sweet blast softens, the scent starts transitioning back and forth between distinct yet overlapping phases: honey-sweetened earthy puerh tea, creamy ylang-ylang, and layers of various ouds. Alongside everything there is an ever present, ever growing amazing natural deer musk note.
Hours later, settling into a blend of oud, musk, and sandalwood, the fragrance becomes less sweet and more animalic, though never overwhelmingly so.
Overall, this is a wonderfully cozy and warm musky spicy earthy fragrance, perfect for colder days.

The animal was transformed.
It's best not to smell this fragrance for the first 30 seconds, as it gives off a medicinal scent and the worst aspect of sandalwood - its saltiness.
Later, a beautiful, clean animal appears, its fur freshly washed and dried, and you lean in close to its forehead to smell this cute creature.
This is the first animalistic fragrance for me that so well conveys the smell of animal fur, most likely a deer or some other zoo animal. Then, perhaps it was just my imagination, but it seemed as if the fur of another animal appeared, maybe a dog, or maybe I just smelled Ensar too much.
And here begins the real seduction of the fragrance. Cinnamon plus a subtle, airy, non-urinal honey in tandem adorn this smooth wool, and even an inexperienced nose will want to smell this fragrance again and again, as the combination is very unusual.
Perhaps we are now in the yurt of a Mongolian hunter, furnished with animal skins, where the owner extracts fresh honey from the combs with a special device, while his hospitable wife makes you green tea with herbs and this fresh honey. There is also a certain vibe in the scent, as if you were at a fishing spot. It is not strong, but for me it is definitely there. If there is a documentary about Mongolia, you should only watch it while wearing this scent.

Absolutely stellar
Prefacing this with the clarification that this review is in reference to the 2025 release, and I have not tried the yellow plaque release, or in other words, the fragrance above.
I would also like to just set the stage for this fragrance—this scent has quickly climbed it’s way into the top 5, if not top 3, scents in my collection, blowing past many to most musk scents I have tried. On paper, the notes in this composition don’t seem like they should harmonize. But let me tell you, this fragrance is packed full with robust depth and symbiotic harmonization. To quote Adam Coburn of the EO team, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” This absolutely applies here. He calls it “seamless” and a “living presence.” Again, perfectly verbalized description for this fragrance. This fragrance is a refined presence of sharp tea, slightly raunchy musk, spiced herbal assets, and a peculiar tart, cooling herbal overhue. These are my main pickups, with an honorable mention going to the oud—that oud being rayong in variety. I don’t find myself wanting to write this review in the classic structure of going over the opening, mid, and base, just simply because this perfume doesn’t behave that way. The blending here is masterful, you can expirience every note in their own essence while they act together to make something truly distinct from their own essence at the same time. The honey here is quite intriguing but also engaging. It’s not sweet on its own, but (I assume) in tandem with the musk, the best fixative, it becomes sweet, but only in the same way the musk is sweet as well. Might I add as an important note here, there is an entire attar in here made by sultan qaboos. I suspect this is why this fragrance has a surplus of depth and harmonization in notes that don’t seem like they would fuze into an expirience this wonderful. Recalling to what I said earlier, there is a peculiar herbal cooling to this scent. I wouldn’t call it a kinamic cooling tone, but something different. Cooling in the sense that herbal teas are cooling and fresh mint or plants of the such are cooling. The subtle cooling that clove has and whatnot. This mixes with the already herbal characteristic of Mongolian musk and the musk growl that the subconscious, primal side of us all love to make a wonderful combo. I think this cooling character is a huge player in why this comes out to be such an addicting scent for me. Now to address the musk directly. This musk is utterly gorgeous. It feels so mature and exhibits exactly what I want in a musk, but also what it can do to other notes in a fragrance as a fixative. It’s slightly sweet, super dense, slightly tart and peppery, and the right amount of musk raunch/funk that sets it apart. Just enough to not scare you away, but also just enough to entice you and keep you wanting more. But I think what this musk does best from behind the backdrop is influence the rest of the composition into a sweeter, elevated sum. It leaves a hint, a piece of evidence on every note in this composition. It’s imprint is in the sweet soil that this scent-sculpture is built upon. Moving on, now that I look at the notes and think about it, I recognize the sq sandalwood in the backdrop of this fragrance, providing a subtle spiced, wooded, oily facet in the deep muscle of the wear, even if I didn’t explicitly notice it at first. I believe the oud behaves the same way here, acting as a resinous woody backdrop rather than a main player of the scent. To close this up, or rather to not close this up, there are many hidden facets of this scent that I would have a hard time doing them justice or even explaining how they contribute to the bigger picture of Mongolian Musk as a whole. Expirience this for yourself. Don’t let this one be “the one that got away.” No one does musk like Ensar Oud, and it shows.

A Warm Night in the Shadow of the Musk Moon
The purple full moon hangs low
a lukewarm night begins the wind blows red dust over sleeping buffalo babies
and dares a final dance with the windmill then everything is still. A man with a cowboy hat pulled low over his face sits on a sandalwood log and rolls a sharp cigarette He limps to the cooler his leather coat dragging over the barren ground he takes a cold Dr. Pepper cola and goes to sleep in the barn where he pulls out a small piece of fruit bread that he could still hide from the little ones he lays down on cinnamon-scented sandalwood and dozes off for a few hours the next morning he gathers the calves and trots with them towards the horizon
into the vast wilderness far from civilization and mainstream in search of a new day and new challenges.
----------------------------------------------
What a beautiful start musk at its finest strong, cozy, dirty are rather big ram babies and they have been rolling around in the mud all day which has already dried on their fur it could also
be a riding animal like a donkey with very dusty fur or a petting zoo at the circus
really strict animalic as if a calf stood next to you and suckled on your little finger the oud is also strong woody dark leather and animal fur remain in the foreground tobacco smoke black pepper and hay accompany the musk which pulls the strings from beginning to end.
and again and again Dr. Pepper vibes does it come from the bark?
Oud goes a little into reserve and sandalwood takes over the last third it is soft warm smooth and is brushed with strong cinnamon a kind of fruit bread and a hint of exoticism. The scent lies in the wilderness for me it is not a jungle rather the wild west barren steppe
lots of hoofed animals and no human soul in sight.
What a great experience and so much musk
Excellent for relaxing
but I wouldn’t go out with it
that would surely cause trouble at the bakery.
Thank you Floyd for the testing opportunity :)

Genuinely one of the best musk perfumes i’ve ever smelled, beautifully crafted and really well blended scent.

Maybe not the best EO objectively, but it's a favorite for me. Not overstuffed, every note is important. Almost edible honey-spiced musk+oud

It's even wearable for me. Animalic musk with honey sweetness and a hint of ylang and a woody base. What does Pu-Erh tea actually smell like?
