Wet earth and dry woods
Sandalwood, oud, musk, and ambergris... four of the most precious ingredients in perfumery. This is an interesting example of using these four not just as a base, but to construct a fragrance itself.
In the opening traces of bitter wormwood from the absinth and pristine white floral jasmine sambac can be felt. Almost immediately however the scent settles into the heart/base, a juxtaposition of dry white wood, and petrichor, leather, and diesel rich oud. It's both very versatile and very masculine.
The sandalwood isn't the creamy variety like mysore but rather more sharp and dry. The ouds give it a jungly wet-soil greenness. The musk, ambergris, and aged vanilla tincture highlight the edges and give the base a warm welcoming feel.
Despite the high extrait concentration it doesn't sit as oily on skin as other works from the house like tonkin dream. The projection is good for a natural fragrance and the longevity is excellent. It leaves you craving more with every wear.
