Tonkin Dream V2 House of Heartistry 2024

With fragrances that have a part I, II, III, etc, I find it most interesting to write about what makes the editions unique. I've already written a separate review on Tonkin Dream for those interested.

While some remade fragrances occur years after the original, Tonkin Dream V2 came out fairly quickly in response to the huge influx of demand for V1. Eric has said that this and Tonkin Rose are two of his most requested fragrances from new enthusiasts.

Frankly, I think this short turn around is the ONLY way this fragrance could exist. The concept of creating a traditional perfume structure of top/mid/base notes with only dense ouds and musk blended is incredible and highlights the perfumer's intimate knowledge of his material. However, it's also why Tonkin Dream can never be recreated again.

V2 benefits from including many of the same oud oils, and shares much of its profile with the original. The blending of musks and ouds in both versions gives me this feeling of relaxation like my brain is getting a massage.

The waxy fruity floral opening of the beginning is toned down slightly but instead feels coated in dense sugary warmth.

The extra musk and slightly different ouds gives V2 an overall darker and heavier feel, but this goes a long way in further boosting the projection compared to the original. Both have excellent longevity as one might expect from a bottle containing 4+ grams of oud oils.

Honestly, even with a gun to my head I'd be hard pressed to pick which version is my favorite.

"Now this is just a massive blend of ouds and tonkin musk, nothing that i would think was really sweet, but this was very sweet to my nose, its dark and heavy but in a sweet light? This is really interesting and yet another great work by Eric, so let's describe this shortly. It opens up raw, oud blast and everything, then it gets sweet almost instantly, it develops into this beautiful musky scent that lays on my skin, Eric fails to disappoint" This is my old review, but i now have even more to say about this. Now this is the second version of Tonkin Heart, Eric has added more tonkin musk and more oud, and the color of the scent is just so amazing, ive talked about a lot of this in my review of the first scent but the pure bliss you get from these materials in the house of heartistry way is amazing, i love oud and musk, sadly real tonkin musk is very very hard to get your hands on, so im happy that eric was able to do that and get to use some real exclusive materials. Now lets get into what this scent really is

The scent opens up strong and rich of ouds, very much oud, a clean and pure oud that lays upon a cover of musk that blends together perfectly, you get a feeling of something you never experienced before, i talked in my old review that the first one was the scent of not being able to do everything in a lifetime, but i say, this is that but added more dreams, your dreams are heavier and more impactful. You wish for more than before, you need to get it all out in a scent, and this is that. Not more to say about the opening except that its oddly sweey which i didnt expect, as the title may say, but its a form of christmas sweetness that you just enjoy with pure bliss, from everything i can say this scent in the opening is sweet, musky and oudy.

When the scent blends down on your skin the feeling of berries shows, i said red berries in my first review but these are purple berries, these berries mixed with ouds show pureness in a way you cant deny, a really amazing way to get the message of berries and musk, in the dream you once had, you had a dream of being pure, this wants to be even more pure, it seeks something it cant have, and the way it does makes you feel like it was just a dream.

As a conclution this scent is musky, very sweet musk with a lot of added oud in it, it has a berry feeling to it, purple berries, a lot of amazing things within this scent!

very good oud forest scent simple and clear creamy musk on wood loves animalistic smoky vanilla as a room catcher cocoa and little incense citrus very woody
dry leafy only a hint of cinnamon smoky spicy dark earthy scent is extremely balsamic and creamy oud proudly in the foreground shows its high notes of fresh chips, it becomes charcoal smoky bitter in the base embraced by fur musk and vanilla.
scent is very oily and after an hour everything calms down again and slowly fades away the carrier material is too quick, it would need to be adjusted again for my feeling
Crassna vanilla fans will surely enjoy it.
