From orange to purple iris: a comparison between orange and purple flamingo.
Starting with strong iris notes, a fresh, floral scent of all Accento Overdose and fresh laundry - the Purple Flamingo knocks you right off your feet. Like this. Period.
So really, you notice this intensity/ this POWER straight away. The clearly noticeable iris unites the entire base with (slightly) woody notes, musk and a lot of "powderiness" to create a harmonious overall picture.

Orange Flamingo, on the other hand, impresses with its fresh and clean notes, which begin directly with an explosion of oranges. The combination of jasmine and lily of the valley dominate together with (slightly) woody accords before the fragrance transitions into a musk-based drydown. In contrast to the powdery Purple Flamingo, however, the Orange Flamingo is fresh and soapy clean with a characteristic "fresh wash" character.

For me/my nose, the Purple Flamingo is more intense/noble than its predecessor...
This is most likely due to the iris, which dominates the fragrance for a few minutes, similar to Irisss by Xerjoff. So if you know that fragrance, you'll know roughly what direction it's going in here...

Despite its highly concentrated formulation, the fragrance is still pleasant and envelops you all day long with its soothing freshie vibe.
The longevity leaves nothing to be desired and the projection is extremely strong, filling the room.
I would even say Beastmode.
!! BUT that is definitely the case with BOTH fragrances !!!
Even on skin types where fragrances don't last long, the longevity of Purple Flamingo is particularly impressive. Once applied in the morning, it stays with you into the evening or even for several days afterwards.
The extremely strong sillage and long-lasting durability also make this an ideal choice - for anyone looking for long-lasting fragrances.

No matter the occasion or time of day - both fragrances are perfect all-rounders.
In my opinion, more for spring and summer, as the heart notes of iris, rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and violet exude a harmonious sensuality that is simply made for these seasons.

On the whole, Purple Flamingo is a luxurious and higher quality alternative to the fresher Orange Flamingo. If you are looking for a long-lasting & intense fragrance, Purple Flamingo will be just right. The fragrance is an absolute must-have, especially for lovers of iris and orange notes as well as powdery freshness. But of course also for collectors due to its exclusivity.

If you are NOT into iris, you should definitely test the fragrance beforehand or go straight for the normal Orange Flamingo! Please note: With a price of €279.00, the purple one is €79.00 more expensive than its predecessor due to its exclusivity and high-quality ingredients. So if you are not from near Düsseldorf or cannot test it in the store - I would definitely recommend ordering a bottle from the Souk.

In the end, you can simply say that Christian Carbonnel has done another great job here and created a fragrance that can be worn 100% by both women and men.

The mature flamingo
There were two releases these days that made me particularly curious, even though I knew full well that I am neither the target group nor do I have any intention of buying them. One fragrance is Perseus by PdM, the other Purple Flamingo, which, as you know, is only available in the Marc Gebauer store in Düsseldorf, which is centrally located in the perfumery Bermuda triangle of the most beautiful city on the Rhine ;-)

But let's quickly get to the point: Purple Flamingo surprises me in that it doesn't play it safe or young or youthful, but rather comes across as a more grown-up, mature version of Orange Flamingo. Both work quite intensively with floral nuances alongside the orangy-citrus theme. Purple Flamingo in particular has a lot of powdery iris and some violet. Jasmine and rose as well as lily of the valley are still rather restrained here, but present. There is also a fine, soapy base and minimal green and woody accents.

Purple Flamingo almost gives the impression that the floral soaps of the great-grandmother have been poured together into an extrait de parfum to create something new and yet classic. This is not meant in a derogatory way, but in my opinion rather against the trend of oversweet shower gel fragrances and therefore daring and welcome. This step is certainly more courageous than the release of Perseus, which I will discuss in more detail in another review. Otherwise, it would be like comparing apples with pears or oranges with iris.

I like this flamingo, which embodies maturity, calm and security and is based on classic values. Nevertheless, I would not consider buying it ... and certainly not at this price. Nevertheless: respect!

The hype - The price - The fragrance
The hype:
The fragrance is currently only sold in the in-house store and is not available online.
This naturally causes a stir and arouses curiosity.
Expectations are high, as it is supposed to be the successor or even an improved 2.0 version of the well-known and popular Orange Flamingo.
All this arouses desires and thus calls everyone on the plan who smells good business.

The price:
The question for me is whether the fragrance is worth the proud price.
Of course, everyone has to answer that for themselves. Unfortunately, it's not for me, but that also applies to its predecessor.

The fragrance:
So yes - it smells good (to my nose). But you have to like iris.
For me, the fragrance starts with a slightly tart iris note, which I find unpleasant and unrounded. From then on, however, the fragrance gradually improves. Softer, rounder and more gently powdery. Some warmth is added, but the fragrance is and remains rather unsweet. As it progresses, the iris becomes milder and more subtle. The fragrance transforms more and more into the original Orange Flamingo, but retains its iris-like quality in the background.

Conclusion:
A really beautiful fragrance - at least if you like iris. BUT by no means absolutely unique or novel. So unfortunately not worth the price and the hype for me.

Hype Train Level 10
Let me try to describe my thoughts:

Due to the hype, fragrance DNA, durability and price-performance ratio of Orange Flamingo, one naturally expects the next big step or to come to Apple language: "One more thing".

Of course, I also took my cue from this and expected this step.

Arrived at the Düsseldorf boutique, tested the fragrance, led by the euphoria and the hype, bought the fragrance. The fragrance Purple Flamingo is currently only "boutique-exclusive". Only time will tell when it will be available online.

Back to the fragrance: After walking around Düsseldorf all day and arriving at the hotel in the evening, I could still feel the fragrance on my skin. Durability and sillage worthy of a flamingo.

Unlike Orange Flamingo, the iris note is very dominant in Purple. A very, very beautiful "clean fragrance". There is only a slight hint of orange to be smelled here, but not as dominant as in its predecessor.

Now we come to my key point "predecessor". Many (including myself) now assume that it is a "successor" to Orange Flamingo, which it can/should be in its typical way (DNA). Of course, people are now unfortunately also biased by Orange Flamingo. If I may just briefly remind you of my first paragraph of the review.

If you look at this fragrance on its own, you have to honestly admit that this is yet another masterpiece of craftsmanship from Carbonnel. Of course, iris is one of the most expensive fragrance components in the world. If you venture deeper into the fragrance cosmos, everyone can understand how this price of almost 300€ comes about. I, on the other hand, wonder why it doesn't cost over €300? If you compare it with other well-known fragrances that play with iris in such an explosive way, the price of under €300 is very reasonable. And don't forget, here again it's 100ml.

I also imagine the following scenario here: What if Purple had come out before Orange ?

Let's come to my final conclusion:
The fragrance is typical Marc Gebauer (Carbonnel), once again a very good release.
Long-lasting, beastmode, an all-day pleasant fragrance for every situation.
This DNA will not offend anywhere. A nice "fresh laundry" fragrance.
Should you get it for the price if you already have Orange Flamingo ? A very clear "no" from me.
You're not missing anything spectacular here.
As a fragrance enthusiast, should you buy this fragrance ? A very clear "yes".
Flamingo as DNA with a beautiful iris.

The overpriced and inferior Orange Flamingo
I find the Purple Flamingo quite difficult to categorize, as the iris makes the whole fragrance completely indefinable. In the base, however, it is the Orange Flamingo with a strong iris note that runs through the whole fragrance and makes it smell extraordinary. In my opinion, I don't think it's a success and it's a shame that it's more expensive than Orange Flamingo.
