Statement-Duft der auffallen will

Expectation Management
Kuhstall
Longevity is underground
Smells animalistic

It almost seems to me that Mr. Gebauer has overestimated his followers.

After several mainstream-compatible releases that sold primarily due to their brutal longevity and projection brought about by massive use of ambroxan, a fragrance with normal performance now appears on the influenced perfume market. The realistic 4-6 hours with pleasant sillage are, of course, very disappointing for the 24-hour beast mode following, who navigate from "Top 10 Longest Lasting Fragrances" to "Top 10 Panty Droppers" and discuss the latest Erba Pura, Orange Flamingo, or Air Tiger releases on the playground or at university, saying "I could still smell it after three showers."

If longevity is the most important selling point, and this trend seems to be advancing among young men aged 15-25, Marc Gebauer must ask himself whether he has ultimately spoiled his loyal following.

Now let’s make one thing clear: the performance of Arabian Cherry is completely normal. Yes. You heard that right. NORMAL. I spray this fragrance on and get it transported into my nose in regular waves. It lasts about 4-6 hours. That is not "groundless" but simply, some newer perfume enthusiasts may be surprised, normal. You may not like that, then feel free to grab Carbonnel's next ambro bombs and be happy when the room smells like your floral fragrances three days later. This is real life.

And the Kuhstall? Oh dear! When you buy an oud fragrance and then wonder why it contains oud, it amuses me. This fragrance is very subtle in terms of oud intensity. In no world is this fragrance animalistic. But here we are again with Erba Pura and Orange Flamingo. If you only know sweet fruity and floral fragrances or smooth designer releases pushed by Douglas and think that oud smells like "Oud Wood (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford," you might want to familiarize yourself with the product before writing such unfounded comments here. After all, I wouldn’t buy a Latte Pistachio if I hate pistachios. What irony. The fragrance can’t help it if you don’t know these notes.

For me, the fragrance is primarily a pleasant rose/oud scent with, admittedly, a somewhat synthetic cherry note that spreads very sweetly in the opening but quickly makes way for the rose/oud combination. Oud comes across beautifully woody-intense. Not animalistic or stinky or even cheesy. Ultimately, the whole combination is based on a sandalwood-musk base that allows the fragrance to dry down creamy. I really like it. Super pleasant to wear!

I can understand if one finds the fragrance too synthetic and wishes for a more natural cherry. But to downgrade the fragrance because of its oud or label the longevity as "groundless" I find amusing. Grow up!

Put the Cherry on Top for Me
Recently at an art exhibition: A cluster forms in front of the paintings. A multilayered gradient of colors dripped on from north to south in all the colors of the rainbow alongside a lot of gold leaf and even more black. Opinions clash, heated discussions ignite, and I leave home feeling sad and disturbed.

There, a sample of the new Marc Gebauer awaits me. And what does this artist want to tell me? I examine the packaging, I weigh the bottle in my hands, read the name, spray two pumps on my skin, and I know ...

The box is gleaming red, and the square bottle typical of Marc Gebauer is equally radiant red. On it sits a silver-white cherry with a subtle ornament, providing the eye with a sense of stability and calm. Beautiful. You can display it on the shelf without any annoying antlers or other nonsense getting in the way. Praise be to the master for ensuring that the box is only slightly larger than the bottle and that the 100ml is not delivered in shoeboxes like with other brands.

The scent also leaves no doubt about the name of the artwork. A sufficiently well-known saffron-rose-oud accord envelops you, closely accompanied by a bright red, slightly synthetic cherry, which screams sweetly as loudly as one would expect on any cocktail or birthday cake. The cherry creates a heavy sweetness, accompanied by a few raspberries, but the fruity impression fades relatively quickly. Soon, saffron and a rose that screams uncomfortably for me take over, followed by dark, heavy woods. It doesn't take long before you get the impression that a relatively nearby stable isn't always cleaned out regularly and accurately. Not really unpleasant, but the sweet, creamy amber notes can't really compete with it.

As the name suggests, it is meant to be an Arabic-inspired fragrance, and yes, it breathes that with every pore. You have the spices, the woods, the flowers, the fruity sweetness. Added to that is a certain opulence and strength, so that you can still be sufficiently perceived and detected even in a packed shisha bar among your beasts (since when is "Besties" the plural of "Bestie"?). We don't need to discuss nuances here. It's all about the overall package. So, anyone suffering from ADHD might find relief and help with this scent.

Unfortunately, I find it hard to speak personally about longevity and sillage. Because just as quickly as the flaps in the exhaust of my BMW M4 open when I hit the gas pedal, my nose shuts down after the two sprays. But even if I don't perceive Arabian Cherry on myself anymore, my Floating Peach Blossom is still firmly convinced half a day later, two rooms away, that I shouldn't have sprayed the entire sample at once.

Marc Gebauer does not pursue lofty artistic goals with his fragrances, as here, especially since he has skillfully and purposefully had his ideas and visions implemented by another nose. No, he doesn't want to leave behind a self-contained oeuvre with an ever-lasting insight and validity for posterity. He is too much of a businessman for that. Currently, oriental fragrances are selling like freshly chopped kebabs, and if a gleaming red cherry is placed on top, then you can easily charge a few more euros. It's that simple. You wish, he delivers.

By the way, next year the Cape Gooseberry is the fruit of the year ... we shall see!

Diapers with Cherry Aroma
Unfortunately, it smells like diapers from a child with lactose poop mixed with a few sour cherries or the lollipops bought from the kiosk as a child. Very animalistic. The sillage is also really weak for such a heavy fragrance. Very disappointing. The notes do not reflect the actual scent. The bottle looks very nice. Overall, a letdown.

High potential, catastrophic execution
*Preliminary*:
I just spoke with the Gebauer branch in Düsseldorf, the perfume is as it is and does NOT need to mature. Quote: “When I buy a perfume, I get it for myself and not so that someone else can smell it.” What a silly statement, you only smell your perfumes for a short time and then you become nose-blind, the employee's nose seems to work differently than that of all other people!

Review:
Unfortunately, I already know that all the Gebauer supporters with their fan glasses will inflate the overall rating. Here you have an honest review from a Gebauer “fan” without fan glasses.

The scent itself is really well done: A sweet-bitter cherry note stands out, harmoniously rounded off by soft musk and a subtly used oud. Elegant, not too intrusive - actually a perfume with great potential.

But what good is the most beautiful scent if you can hardly perceive it? The sillage is unfortunately a total failure. Despite five sprays on the same spot, the scent remains so close to the skin that you can't even perceive it from a distance of 5-10 cm.

Especially brazen in this context is the price: Over €270 for a performance that has to hide behind some drugstore perfumes. It’s almost more worthwhile to grab a DM scent - at least there you know what you’re getting.

This is particularly disappointing, as Marc Gebauer was originally celebrated for strong performance - both sillage and longevity. That was exactly what convinced many buyers. But since the last three releases, it has only gone downhill.

For me, “Arabian Cherry” was definitely the last perfume I ordered in the pre-sale. Such a shame for the beautiful scent experience - but without noticeable presence, it is no longer a full-fledged perfume for me.

Kirsch liqueur + western synth oud à la Oud Wood on musky/mossy base. Clearly not for beginners as we are told, luckily I practice Shoshin.

Walking through a cow barn and stepping on 2-3 cherries. I didn't expect that. The cow barn note lingers, I'm very disappointed.

As much as I love Marc, this smells like vomit with a bit of musk and cherry.
I like oud, but I don't understand how people can rave about this.

Nope Marc, that was not it. Miserable longevity. Smells like Lost Cherry with oud. The worst creation.
