The Best Fragrance This Year!
Red Sand strikes me as the Best Of the Orient!
Marc has managed to create a truly characterful oriental that should appeal to both beginners and veterans. To me, it is also genuinely remarkable how well the balance between strong projection and everyday wearability is being achieved these days. The fragrance never projects like a monster, but it is also not so close to the skin that nobody notices you. For me, the longevity is around 12 hours, after which it can still be detected, but not to any significant extent.
You get a really beautiful saffron paired with rose. In the drydown, I mainly get amberwood, vanilla and Omani frankincense. The latter is not listed, but definitely contributes a great deal to the fragrance for me. Raspberry can only really be guessed at, but nevertheless seems to play its part in the base. Perhaps it is too high-pitched for me to understand… The fragrance is spicy, woody, dry and has that typical sparkle of an oriental.
If you want to imagine the fragrance as simply as possible, I would say: Turath by SoD, without the fruits, paired with Royal Incense by OL.
Genuinely the best niche release this year for me, despite what I consider to be the high output from all sides.
