On silent soles
Actually, I just wanted to write a statement, but due to the only feedback under this fragrance so far, I want to leave some more love here!

I have tested all the fragrances of the brand for several days. Right from the start, I was excited about the special twists that are added to each central ingredient. First, I reached for Parisian Musc and Radical Rose, certain that I would like them - which I did. While I like Bois d'ébène and Encens Suave just as insanely, not on me, but sniffing the vial or my husband. So when I tried to pick a favorite for myself, after a moment's thought my husband said "Santal Austral", which at first made me let out a "waaaas?" drifting into high glissando. I like sandalwood - but it irritated me. His answer (he has a good nose, let me tell you): "This one has something special, it suits you better! So I paid more attention to it, thought about it, and sure enough, I can't think of any that smells like it either. And that's probably why I was first drawn to the scents that gave me instant memories, while this one waited quietly and patiently for me.

About the scent: of all the scents from the brand, this one is the quietest on my skin. The sandalwood takes center stage, sitting by the fireplace with a book from start to finish. The almond milk and tonka bean bring sweetness for the cool season. The iris brings in a delicate contrast, a smile. The benzoin gives a nice base. In the course, everything is perceptible, and I can't incorporate which season specifically makes it bloom - because due to the restraint, it always goes. The wearer decides then with his/her/its preferences; however, potential is given around the year.

This fragrance will soon enter my collection. When I sniff it, I feel at home, a smile flits across my face

Signature for fall/winter
I absolutely don't understand how you can rate the sillage and durability with a 7.
This thing is absolute beast fashion! Friends, acquaintances and family can smell the cloud when I spend the day with them for over 14 hours. So I can already contradict these points.
But now to the fragrance :)
Starts very woody and somewhat powdery and becomes softer and softer over time. The iris gives just the right dose of powderiness.
Siam benzoin provides that certain vanilla touch that I get with this fragrance.
The almond milk comes out more and more, so that in the drydown I have the image in my head of sandalwood floating in a bath of vanilla milk.
The star of the show is the sandalwood and all the other notes are supporters for a perfect overall picture.
I wear the fragrance super often (in fall and winter) and find it simply cozy and feel incredibly comfortable with it !
Feels like a warm blanket. Absolute love for the fragrance!

An Australian relative
An Australian relative of the sandalwood tree presents itself here pleasantly light woody - not too intrusive - well wearable by the admixture of almond-milky notes. Even if the fragrance notes of sandalwood differ somewhat from its Indian relatives, the lineage and scent direction is unmistakable. The whole composition is very naturally tuned and spreads a sensual ambience. In the course of the fragrance, it becomes increasingly creamy, without losing its bright woody DNA.

I had dismissed the fragrance too quickly as a "pencil scent" after the first engagements. However, after wearing it daily at work and to sporting activities, I am more inclined to it than disinclined. He is certainly one of the nischigsten fragrances from the Matiere Premiere line-up, but just for the coming autumn and winter time he will get his wearing time.

Let's go to the forest - the chainsaw and enough provisions including a pack of almond milk packed!

Creamy sandalwood signature-worthy scent
This year for my birthday I wanted to get a versatile scent that I could use opposite to my beloved Bleu de Chanel EDP, especially in colder months. Nothing wrong with BdC, it's just that since I approached the world of artistic perfumery I wanted to wear something more unique and that could match more my personality in order, for me, to get recognized with it.

I was mainly interested in a woody sandalwood fragrance, because I love this note and I am not too much into fougere or amber fragrance.
I live in a small town in Tuscany, but after I visited some locale perfumeries I couldn't find something that really convinced me: many sandalwood I tried (Tam Dao, Mojave Ghost, Santal du Pacifique) were too dry, too floral or just something I didn't feel mine. So, I decided to go to Florence to try some offers from brands that I didn't find in my town: I entered a shop to try Santal Calling by Ex Nihilo, and the super nice salesman suggested me to sample it with Santal Austral by Matiere Première on the skin and on paper. Because they seems pretty similar, I took a week to smell them again and to think about what fragrance I'd prefer the most before making the purchase, and in the end I went with Santal Austral.

First, what I loved about this creation by Matiere Première was his opening: not overly sweet, enveloping and soft enough, I can smell iris and almond milk a lot throughout up to the first five minutes after I spray.
However, the main selling point to me was the drydown, in which this creamy sandalwood blends really well with tonka bean: the result is an impressive, warm white wood scent that feels really relaxing and cozy.

The performance is better than I expected on me: very good longevity (up to 12+ hours, I could smell it after a whole day at work) and decent sillage (I received a compliment after almost 4 hours of 5 sprays on the back and side of the neck, chest area and wrists). I find this perfume versatile (even though I'd only wear this on not too hot evenings in summer) and unisex, even though the Iris here tends to lean more masculine in my opinion.

Santal Austral is a signature worthy scent by a very interesting house, and I am looking forward to wear it a lot from now on.

Creamy goodness with Tonka
Like it says on the bottle, we talk here about Australian Sandalood which gives a very nice, inoffensive and creamy aspect to the composition.

It reminds me a bit of Sily Woods from Goldfield and Banks and to be honest they are both extremely high quality and natural smelling. The beautiful sandalwood note which Santal 33 has is not to be found here, maybe it is mixed so well with the other ingredients and it does not pop up like in Le Labo.

Sweet, romantic, shy and close to the skin sandalwood is not the summary which I would like for my perfume and unfortunately Santal Austral is matching the profile exactly. I like Silky Woods more, with its stronger projection and character.

But of course, smelling the Matiere Premiere from a paper will not offer the full spectrum of the scent as spraying it on the skin will .. so this review will be edited, in case things change.

Beautiful creamy milky sandalwood with astonishing blending. Tonka is supporting the woodiness well in here. Need a large bottle asap

The most sensual milky sandalwood with spices and an almondy feeling. Simple, yet charming. Longevity is great on skin, projection is low.
