The smell of a vacation in Italy
This perfume takes you on an amazing summer vacation.

This is one of the best neroli and orange blossom perfumes in the category for me.

Amazing scent, longevity is completely sufficient for a summer perfume and it also boasts good SILLAGE.
I received compliments on this perfume.

Before I purchased the Neroli Oranger, I had the Neroli Portofino Eau de Parfum which is relatively similar in terms of smell, but its performance is much less good - so I sold the Tom Ford and bought the Neroli Oranger instead and I am really happy with the move I made.

Overall, this is an amazing perfume and I highly recommend buying it for neroli lovers.

8.5/10.

That one uplifting friend that will never let you go
Love fresh summer scents, but bored of Neroli Portofino and your Aqua di Parmas? Here's your next perfume for life!

In short: simply a-ma-zing creamy fresh and dry neroli that lasts unexpectedly long on skin. To some it might lean too much toward fabric softener, to others this is pure summer bliss. Personally, I couldn't keep my nose off the damned thing.

When I was younger, we had this TV commercial for a laundry detergent where a helicopter pulled out a gigantic blindingly white sheet of cotton fabric from a massive washing machine in the middle of the sun-kissed Swiss Alps mountains. This is exactly how I think that commercial should smell. The neroli flowers are so natural and bright here that it reminds me walking through the gardens of Moroccan or Turkish fortress gardens in spring, when all the orange trees are in full bloom. If that doesn't make you happy, I don't know what will.

Néroli Oranger says hello with a tiny dab of citrus notes, without them getting dominant. Then a lot, and I mean a lot(!) of the most natural creamy, bright and fresh neroli I've ever smelled, on a bed of subdued dry chalky undertones to hold it all together. Some jasmin-like notes will peep through after a little while, and it will receive a smidge of floral musky funk once the fragrance dies down. It's like happy cuddles in a bottle.

On the whole though, it's a very linear fragrance. Which is a good thing, trust me! It's no complex beast, but that actually makes it more elegant. The freshness holds up throughout the day and 8 hours later there's still neroli in the air. Even in the morning I could still smell it on my skin almost unchanged, which is quite unique for my dryer skin type that normally soaks up perfumes like a sponge. It sticks to you like one of those water proof band-aids.

the sillage is way more pronounced than most cologne-like scents and seems to pierce the air with determination, without becoming obtrusive. It's more of a gentle but confident caress and takes an impressive amount of time before returning to a life much closer to the skin. Especially for a fragrance this light.

I've tested this for a while now, and am I going to buy this? Yes! Should you? yes!!

Took me by surprise
Neroli Oranger opens with a burst of orange blossom, the scent is both sweet and fresh. Developing on the skin, the fragrance lives up to its name, which is a very realistic neroli scent with orange blossom. The ylang-ylang sweetens this floral fragrance and makes it perfect for the upcoming Springtime.

Just as almost any Matiere Premiere perfume, Neroli Oranger is very linear and doesn't reveal any secrets or surprises after oxidation. Though I do not like florals, unless they are woven into a gourmand or woody fragrance, I can appreciate the quality of the floral notes. They smell clean, real and fresh, as if walking down a neroli and orange blossom orchard.

Neroli Oranger leaves me at a loss for words as did all the other linear Matiere Premiere fragrances. The simplicity of the fragrances can be put into a few sentences without leaving anything out. You truly get what you see, which I really appreciate in fragrances, but if I have to be completely honest, I need that niche kick. An element that knocks the fragrance off its balance. Gives it an edge. A spice. A feeling of mystery.

Soapy, citrusy and fresh becomes ylang-ylang forward
Realized I had forgotten a Matière Première decant in my stash while reviewing what I'd be smelling this week. Decided to go for it as someone on a Facebook fragrance group is doing a group purchase for Matière Première where the bottles cost less than retail price. I was curious to see if this one might warrant a purchase.

I'll save you reading this whole review by saying this outright: it won't be making it into my collection. There's nothing wrong with it, but there are so many neroli / orange blossom fragrances out there and this one doesn't really do anything to stand out. It starts very fresh, citrusy and soapy. It almost made me think of dish soap. After a while, I get the ylang-ylang, with this deep, green aspect, some sweetness and some carnal qualities. It's also pretty creamy. The thing is... Ylang-ylang starts overwhelming the other notes and I'm left with this flower up until the end. I do like the scent, but I'm not sure ylang-ylang falls into the category of flowers I want to wear (especially) when it's so predominent. The performance is also lacking as it became a skin-scent after 10-15 minutes.

All in all it's not bad, but it's not above average. With so many fragrances out there that could make it in my collection (I have limited space for full bottles), this one just won't be making it.

A simple yet outstanding orange blossom fragrance with excellent longevity
Neroli Oranger is an elegant, lovely orange blossom fragrance that revels in its simplicity. Matiere Premiere fragrances are anchored on one natural ingredient used in high doses, the Tunisian orange blossom absolute in this case. I have been on the lookout for a clean orange blossom fragrance without distractions like turmeric, ginger and woody notes. Neroli Oranger is the exact fit for my needs. I had tested this a few times in stores and later using a travel size decant before I bought a full bottle. All perfumes from Matiere Premiere are the creations of its founder Aurélien Guichard.

The perfumer is not exaggerating when he says that this perfume is “a work around the purity of orange blossom”. It is essentially high-quality orange blossom absolute with ancillary notes to enhance its unique facets. In addition to orange blossom absolute, Neroli Oranger also uses neroli, musk, ylang-ylang and bergamot. All these notes are similar to orange blossom in personality, allowing the perfumer to create a homogenous blend without any abrupt transitions or jagged edges. This fragrance is a single unified experience without any significant progression.

Its performance is what caught my attention initially, particularly its unusual longevity. On my skin, Neroli Oranger lasts longer than neroli and citric perfumes from Guerlain, Essential Parfums, and Hermes. Matiere Premiere focuses on producing perfume with good sillage and performance, so this result is not surprising. Neroli Oranger will work great in office settings as it doesn’t call attention to itself, while providing long-lasting freshness.

I recommend Neroli Oranger if you are looking for a clean citric floral perfume with no distractions. The goal of the perfumer is to focus on the attributes of orange blossom, and not to add extra color with ancillary accords. Guichard achieves this goal effortlessly. Because of its simple formula, it requires repeated testing before purchase. For many people, it may appear to be an uninteresting orange blossom. For me, it is a beautiful and versatile all-purpose fragrance, particularly useful during travel. You can get a 100 ml bottle around $165 from US discounters.

Delicate orange blossom with citric freshness. Linear but pleasant. A more uplifting sibling of Le Labo's Fleur d'Oranger

A delightful, short-lived feeling of purified citrus freshness that wins our hearts, but unfortunately disappoints in the dry down.

A white floral forward fragrance, with plenty of neroli to go around. Development is a bit linear. A bit powdery to me as well.

Fresh, soapy and citrusy start that soon morphs into a deep, carnal ylang-ylang with some green aspect from the neroli. Nothing unusual.

Opens like bubble-blowing liquid. Might be 0 citruses here, mostly smells of florals with a hint of petitgrain. Clean laundry vibe, summer.

Not my cup of Neroli, I think there are better alternatives. It starts nice and natural with orange and neroli, but will fly away as fast.

Smells just like any other neroli fragrance with the addition of tiny amounts of creamy ylang ylang

Very nice neroli cologne. Perfect for summer days. Simple and chic. Although it's great I do prefer Eau de Magnolia by FM.

Same as Neroli Portofino with much stronger presence but prominent white florals make it lean more feminine though
