Reminds me of Dwight Manfredi.
“Dwight,” that’s the first thought I have. A wonderful aura from the scent of fresh bergamot loves the fir and blends into a truly incredibly special fragrance that I probably won’t smell in this combination again. And then at the end, the coffee with cedar makes this scent masculine, strong, dominant, and present. Unfortunately, this masterpiece of a perfume is now hard to find and limited. I find it a bit sad that there can't be more such wonderful, unique scents.

Scent development: First comes the fir, then the bergamot. Together they are a pair, and then the brother with his girlfriend coffee and cedar comes! For the first time, I can perceive all the scent nuances, and I definitely appreciate it because I love this masterpiece. And I would, if possible, wear this scent every day because it is so damn unique!

Bottle: Such a beautiful bottle, really! I simply love it, typically Mugler, special and unique. What I find a bit unfortunate is that the star in Mugler Fantasm (by the way, a mega beautiful Christmas scent) is not as clear and crystalline as in the old Mugler, because I think it looks the most beautiful that way!

Conclusion: A beautiful perfume that I miss in the market, and I wish it would come back, which unfortunately will never happen. I have fallen in love with this scent and am therefore even sadder that it was something limited and unique. Such a shame. The current perfume world, like the combination here with fir and bergamot, cannot give me that back, especially at the end with the wonderful woody note and a hint of coffee. No, I’ll say it as it is: It is something very special!

Unfortunately just a limited edition
Here’s another review of A*Men Ultimate, which is unfortunately no longer available. You might find it at significantly higher prices on various platforms. The A*Men line is quite a thing in itself. Many great flankers have come and gone, even though some of them were extremely popular: A*Men Pure Malt A*Men Pure Tonka A*Men Pure Havane A*Men Ultra Zest and a few more. This brand hasn’t really paid much attention to sales figures. This Ultimate didn’t gain much fame and was quite affordable in the past. I bought it about 4-5 years ago and wore it extremely often on mild summer days; it’s definitely a great year-round fragrance. In recent years it has faded a bit into oblivion, but now in spring, I will surely spray it on again from time to time.

I find the bottles of the A*Men line extremely iconic and pretty. They are quite cool with this plastic cover where the star remains open. The spray button is quite soft, and everything works flawlessly. This fragrance comes in a nice blue tone, which visually is really uplifting and fits the scent well. It is delicious, cheerful, and simply carefree.
The fragrance notes are kept quite small with just 4 notes. It’s doubtful whether it’s really just these four, as there are definitely sweet-creamy notes added. The DNA has nothing to do with the original A*Men DNA like many flankers in this line. It leans more towards Joop Wow, but is significantly more uncomplicated and fresher. Bergamot provides this great freshness in the opening, which, however, is overshadowed by balsam fir and wonderful cedarwood. The balsam fir here is really pleasant and brings a great sense of calm and relaxed vibes that are also nice on sunny days. The cedar note is quite pleasant and integrates well. This cappuccino note, or here listed as caffe mocha, comes combined with sweet-creamy notes that are very soft and not overwhelming even in warmer temperatures. This combination of coffee and sweet-creamy notes slightly reminds me of an ice cream parlor. It’s uplifting and simply smells seductive. I also think it’s great that this fragrance is quite unique and doesn’t smell like every second designer fragrance. It was a great release, and fortunately, my bottle is still very well filled.
Performance is quite good like almost all A*Men fragrances, lasting about 8 hours with good sillage in the first 2-3 hours.

It’s a pity that the A*Men line comes and goes. Apart from the original, you have to consider all of these in the line as limited and ensure backups early if you want to wear them long-term. Let’s see what else comes from this brand/line in the future.

Best Flanker
This A Men is the best flanker in this line.

It is much less piercing, much more linear and rounded than the classic A Men.
Initially, there are slight shower gel vibes from the balsamic notes which quickly blend into the pepper and coffee.
I detect a similarity to Alien by Mugler; Cashmeran is definitely present.
On the skin, a hint of A Men mixed with Alien remains.

If you like A Men, this is a great summer fragrance.

Reinterpretation or Missed Theme?
The original scent of this long lineage - the original A*Men - is a topic of debate - and rightly so. Few fragrances polarize like A*Men. One of my other passions is testing Scottish single malts. The Laphroaig distillery on the Isle of Islay produces a whisky that smells and tastes of tar, seaweed, bonfire, peat, and phenol, and has coined the slogan "You love it or you hate it." This could not better summarize the divided opinions about the rubber-tar-sentimental monstrosity A*Men. One thing is for sure: I admire the audacity of the fragrance and its absolutely outstanding uniqueness, but I could not wear this powerhouse myself.
Since the launch of the original scent in 1996, an endless number of flankers have been released, each dedicated to a specific fragrance note and merging it with the scent DNA of the patriarch. Some of the flankers managed to keep the rude base DNA in check and, thanks to their respective ingredients, even turned into a wonderfully composed fragrance. So far, each of these flankers has retained a small genetic portion of the original - some were brilliant (Pure Malt, Pure Coffee, Pure Havanne), some good (Pure Tonka), while others were a weak performance (Kryptomint). With the last in this series, I also see the end of a meaningful reinterpretation of the first. Kryptomint tried to bring some freshness to a heavy, cloying scent through mint. The end result could not convince either olfactorily or in performance.

However, as I am a big fan, especially of Pure Malt, I wanted to test this new release from 2019 as soon as possible and therefore ordered a bottle online, as it was not yet available in any perfumery. The color of the bottle, as well as the listed fragrance notes, gave me hope, as I am a big coffee lover.
The bottle and packaging are brilliantly designed. Despite the already somewhat deficient spray head, I like the rubberized bottles that feel great in the hand. The uniformity of the entire line also looks very nice on the fragrance shelf. So far, the color has always revealed something about the scent and was appropriately chosen.
However, here neither the title nor the color fits the chosen aromas.
In what way does the ultimate man stand out through Café Mocha? And why is the bottle smurf blue?
Now to the scent itself: for the first time in the series of all the flankers, I can no longer detect the unique A*Men DNA. The fragrance is independent and for me is not a flanker of this series. While it is also a gourmand through and through, it lacks the patchouli heaviness that was characteristic of all the others, even if only in the background.
Can the scent at least convince, aside from the failed naming and bottle choice? Unfortunately, I must also decline here. Instead of Café Mocha, I get wafts of a brew that was available at the coffee machine during university days: Irish Coffee. While I despised this devil's elixir as much as the holy water, one of my best friends enjoyed a cup of the syrupy-sweet "hot drink" during breaks between lectures, which has nothing to do with good coffee. The balsam fir makes the scent somewhat sticky-creamy. Bergamot is wishful thinking! The fragrance starts off sticky sweet and continues just the same. Little change, little complexity, no depth. It does not reach the power of the original, let alone that of Pure Malt or Pure Havanne. After 6-7 hours, it was gone.
I would have loved to use it as my autumn and winter scent for 2019, as I was already looking for coffee fragrances. Now it will be replaced by Mancera's Aoud Café. The first fragrance that at least for a short time authentically smells like real coffee.
In summary, this Ultimate Men is for me, after Kryptomint, not only a misstep, but Mugler's perfumers seem to have strayed from the right path. Return to the original idea or stop beating the marketing horse to death! This one is not for the ultimate man (the title seems to be borrowed from JPG anyway), but rather the ultimate fail.

The coffe note is nice, but it's too woody. Bit of an old man smell in my opinion

I really love this fragrance. Nostalgia in a bottle. Sweet 2000s/2010s memories playing as a kid.

Love this scent. Very subtle and calming scent, versatile and mass appealing. It just lacks in perfomance, not too long lasting.

A rather fresh, yet creamy sweet-synthetic Spring fragrance, supported by a gentle spicy green-woody base. Nice mocaccino-balsam fir combo!

A cup of fruit sugar with a splash of coffee and a hint of cream, please.
And pour it directly into my Smurf mug.
Thanks!
