A tricky one to wrap my head (or nose) around…
If you follow any frag influencers, then you know that this scent is AI The Great’s junior project with Betrand D. as the master perfumer. Her first release was all about bananas (LOVE THIS ONE), her second was all about pears & apples (didn’t care for this at all), and her third release was *supposed* to be all about roses… or so I thought?
I’ll be very honest and say this fragrance was not what I was expecting or hoping for when AI described this as a fruity-floral-gourmand with rose as the star. From first sniff and wear, it felt as if the perfume pyramid had been flipped upside down, where I immediately get slapped with a SWEET white chocolate and lots of wood. I also get lot of the juicy berries, but it feels muddled by the base notes. As the scent develops, the florals finally come into the picture, blooming gently and shyly. The florals I get most are the rose and the honeysuckle, but they are so overpowered by the other notes. I will say the scent kind of grows on you more as you sniff it, but I’m not sure how much sniffing and wearing it’ll take for me to truthfully say I love this. It’s also very unique and complex, which I can appreciate.
I’m sad because the bottle is soooo beautiful, but this definitely is NOT a rose scent for lovers and haters of the note. It’s a sweet, woody fragrance with an essence of florals way in the background. The performance is fairly good with this one, but I am definitely on the fence about keeping it in my collection. May or may not be worth sniffing depending on your luck with this house.
