Weird lemon, rice pudding combo

Vanilla Eclair opens with a creamy vanilla and an icy cold lemon sorbet in the opening. The lemon is almost like a candied lemon peel to me. It throws me off because I feel it doesn’t quite go together. Im eating lovely winter warm, cosy, creamy rice pudding with a glass of summery homemade lemonade. I really like the lemon note, but find it confusing with the rest of the scent. It does fade into the background, and the scent evolves into a vanilla rice pudding, but the coconut, cinnamon and spices are super faint to me. I find the scent overall quite weak. I wish the notes (minus the lemon) were much stronger. Not full bottle worthy for me.

First Impression w/out knowing Notes

I had the chance to smell this at the Scentxplore convention and sprayed it on my skin, so consider this more of a first impression than a full review. Without checking the notes beforehand, my initial take was that it smelled like a luxurious Mexican vanilla bean ice cream served in a freshly made, still-warm wafer cone—truly enjoyed it! Now that I’ve seen the official notes, I can definitely see how they align with my initial impression.

Macarons with Milk ..

The first thing that immediately came to my mind is macarons. The scent smells exactly like the small colorful French macarons to me. Sweet, a bit synthetic with a hint of coconut. I have realized that coconut is an absolute nemesis for me. I love coconut cake, coconut macaroons, etc., but I simply cannot stand the coconut note in perfume. For me, almost every perfume with a coconut note has something artificial, plastic-like about it.. With a lot of imagination, I can smell the rice note that is hidden behind a pile of macarons.

In the drydown, I mainly smell a form of condensed milk. It must be the buttermilk note. The scent is generally very lactonic.. For me, the fragrance has little to do with vanilla. It is a milky gourmand with a lot of synthetics.

A Gourmand/Signature Scent

Vanilla Eclat is a beautiful gourmand that works wonderfully as a signature scent, as it is fluffy, lightly sweet, so not overly sweet, it's more like a pinch.
At first, I really get a very nice basmati rice note, blended with coconut cream.
Buttermilk (which does not smell sour) and the beautiful caramel quickly join in.
The woody notes are only present to a limited extent.
It is fluffy yet somewhat creamy.
I find that Vanilla Eclat can be worn effortlessly throughout the year.
It is suitable as a signature scent because it is not too sweet and intrusive, but still maintains a certain lightness and ease throughout the entire fragrance development.
A truly beautiful scent.
