Cozy Sunday vibes, I could use more of that in my everyday life! A scent that is comforting, creamy, silky-sweet.
I remember when Corakirsch brought the fragrance release to my attention; somehow everyone seemed to be on the hunt for THE milky-creamy scent, if they hadn't already discovered it in "Blanche Bête - Eau de Peau | Liquides Imaginaires".
A week before Christmas, I was sitting at the hairdresser's on Saturday morning, waiting for the color to set, and I ordered it blindly!
How untypical of me, but one knew how quickly it would be sold out again at Navitus.
Then it was: long wait.
I already have "Venom of Love | Navitus Parfums" (for me a lovely sweet-oriental cherry) and recently got "Baklava Royale | Navitus Parfums", which I expected NOTHING from and had the worst fears that it could be an oriental honey bomb, which thankfully did not come true.
Now "Lost In A Dream | Navitus Parfums" arrived; here too, I had no expectations left, as it had long been harshly criticized on Fragrantica with the accusation that it smelled too much like
Milk, which I do not know, and where are the promised pastry notes???
About the scent:
The sweet mandarin fades very quickly and I strongly smell "Replica - By the Fireplace | Maison Margiela" without that intense autumn smokiness, but I perceive cinnamon chestnut with marshmallow sweetness;
the bright spicy-sweet creaminess of
This Is Her!.
The scent consistency becomes more liquid like the Cleopatra bath from tetesept, but less sweet, warmer, and spicier due to the cinnamon.
I can guess what is meant by the croissant accord, but it lacks the crispy buttery quality that defines this pastry; the café-croissant-snacking vibes that many expected (me too) are absent, as the scent is not gourmand for me. Maybe it’s more like a brioche roll dipped in milk coffee, "pastry-like", without being truly edible.
No one would sit next to you and say: "Oh, you smell like pastry and coffee!" Still, it develops sweet-creamy, really quite laconic, though not overly so, even though the Cleopatra bath milk vibes lean in that direction.
I find "Blanche Bête - Eau de Peau | Liquides Imaginaires" to be similarly creamy, but I am glad that "Lost In A Dream | Navitus Parfums" does NOT have that strict "dirty muff" and baby bottom vibes that I unfortunately perceived on some days with "Blanche Bête - Eau de Peau | Liquides Imaginaires".
I can understand that many are disappointed, as these vivid accords in fragrance pyramids create (false) expectations, like croissant, ice cream, banana bread, almond cream, etc.
The environment does not really perceive specific scent notes or accords anyway; often, when I wore something sweet, people around commented with "Hmmm, vanilla!", even though the fragrance might list chocolate, cotton candy notes, marshmallow, or similar.
For me, the scent did not fail, even though I was prepared for the worst. I used to like
This Is Her! and "Replica - By the Fireplace | Maison Margiela" was too smoky for me in the long run, even though it is well made, I also like milk baths :)
Therefore, I find it very pleasant to wear!
