Oh dear

Got to love free samples! I particularly enjoy the unusual ones. Obscure brands, strange application formats, ones without any reviews online. Well, this one matches all of the above. Ojar is a UAE based house and this perfume comes in a roll-on vial. I had no idea what to expect.

And, to be fair, this turned out quite an interesting experience. It starts off as a spicy rose with woody notes and it has an odd but pleasing iodine-like ambergris taste to it. Slowly the woods make place for a more ambery sensation, while this peculiar rose remains. The whole feels smooth, glowing and clearly of proper quality.

So basically this sample triggered my interest for this house, perhaps even for the whole middle-eastern perfume oil genre. Oh dear, what have I gotten myself into?

Blood Orange Marmalade in a Shoe... Blood Orange Marmalade in a Flash!

"Red Redemption" by Ojar is a luxurious and fruity rose blend that finds the nearly perfect balance between playfulness and nobility!

The comparisons to Baccarat Rouge are inevitable, but "Red Redemption" (as a perfume oil) still stands strong on its own. A rosy adventure, more pink than red. Velvet castle and horse. Very gentle thorns. Slightly sugary-cocktail-like hints. Very light and jammy to wear. Pepper bubbles and hisses. High-quality vanilla rounds it off. The rose never leaves you. Pink and bold, without ever being radioactive. Let alone synthetic. More feminine. Bright, zesty, sandy. It also reminds me of a niche and clearer version of Cartier's "Declaration d'un Soir". I really like it.

Bottle: beautiful color combination
Sillage: denser and closer to the body than one might think...
Longevity: very long, very enduring, very reliable (9 hours)

Conclusion: oily, rosy, and juicy prospects... Painfully delicious!

The more elegant sister of Rouge 540

A super sensual scent with Rouge 540 character. I fell in love with it in a small perfumery in Sicily in Taormina. It smells luxurious, opulent, yet is more understated and modest than Baccarat Rouge 540. It has rose in the heart note, which comes across very softly, but is always detectable on the skin over time. Accompanying it is a pleasantly warm vanilla note and a slightly fruity-sparkling hint from the blood orange. A masterpiece, especially as a perfume oil, to further intensify the luxurious character.
